Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for March 31st to April 12th 2014

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of March 31st 2014 for 1 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Venus moving into Pisces, and Mercury moving into Aries.
March 31st 2014 for 1 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent which carries the themes of unity, flexibility, fluidity, movement, creation of time, kundalini, bringer of rain, the sky serpents, blood lightning, passion, the life force that flows through everything, the energy connecting our primal root electricity to our spiritual expression and the transcendence of duality, "Samadhi". Serpents are important in many different cultures from kundalini of the Hindi chakra system and blood lightning in the Mayan tradition to the Greek serpent eating it own tail, represents life, death and rebirth. Often associated with Gnosticism, it represents eternity. In China the snake is replaced with Dragon eating its own tail. In Aboriginal Australia the Rainbow Serpent is the guardian of life, fertility, water and other precious resources. And of course the Mayan god Quetzalcoatl, is the feathered or plumed serpent, the god of wind, the giver of breath and also the creator deity, when he descended into the land of the dead to gather up precious bone which he sprinkled with his own blood to create humans. This thirteen day period is an important time to connect with spirit, to have faith in your journey, experience gratitude in the moment, and let love guide your actions.

April is the fourth month and with the digits for 2014, when added together we get 11, then we add 1 + 1 to tell us that this is an eleven/two month in numerology, which brings a spiritual quality to the month. Basic numerology reduces numbers to one through nine, so when we think about that arc the 2 represents a time which brings increased contact with new people, relationships, and cooperative connections, but also highlights the need for balance. The eleven/two combination is represented by the Lust/High Priestess tarot cards which is about being in our strength and in our bodies while experiencing our intuition, independence, self-trust, and self-resourcefulness. Richard Moss wrote in How Shall I Live: "To me, wholeness is the key to aliveness. It is more than just a physical vitality, it is radiance, coming from being at one with yourself and your experience. Life then flows through you and radiates from you" which is a nice description of the Strength/Lust energetic. The High Priestess could be described from this quote from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, "For the self is a sea boundless and measureless." So April is a month to be in our bodies and radiance, that in turn empowers our sense of self, while we cultivate new connections with others.  April also brings us our first Eclipses of 2014. The time between the Total Lunar Eclipse of April 15th and the Annular Solar Eclipse on the 29th we are experiencing circumstances that step up the action, with a sense that if we don't launch ourselves in new directions we may be left behind. We begin the month with the Sun and Uranus in Aries, joined by Mercury on the 7th, which creates tension with Mars in Libra, Jupiter in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn as the energy builds toward the Cardinal Grand Cross which peaks between the 20th and the 23rd.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent, on the 31st all the planets appear to move forward from our vantage point on Earth except Mars and Saturn, which appear to move retrograde or in reverse motion.  Mars turned retrograde on March 1st will turn direct May 19th. During this report period Mars, representing drive and aggression, is in Libra. Mars is in its detriment in Libra because it is opposite Aries, the sign of Martian rulership, and is traditionally considered to have difficulty operating positively in Libra. Because of its retrograde cycle Mars will spend 8 months in the sign of the scales. Typically Mars spends two months in a sign so this placement for most of the year is uncomfortable and monotonous. Mars agitates and in Libra it's about relationships and can lead to social anger. This may cause us to see an increase in passive aggression. Mars is about drive and wanting to take action, but in Libra it's likely to be the drive to make someone else take action. Mars has been in Libra for several months and I've already seen folks competing for love. They are willing to fight for a partner. People are becoming aggressive in their quest for romantic love. Mars is also about sexuality, so retrograde Mars periods are contraindicated for beginning a satisfying sexual relationship. As much as Mars is unhappy in Libra, it's also very unhappy retrograde. This is a really difficult time to access our drive and aggressive energy. Saturn turned retrograde on March 2nd and turns direct on July 20th. Themes of Saturn in Scorpio are loss, depression, failure, fear, the shadow, betrayal, the stuff that goes deep. Superficial just won't cut it with Saturn in Scorpio. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands we take responsibility to review the scorpionic themes such as motives, ethics, and intensions. If we have not been clear on these subjects, we are likely to feel our burden is heavier than the load we had previously agreed to carry.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena. March 31st 2014 for 1 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent: unity experienced through being flexible, with the Moon in Aries opposed by Mars and in harmony with Venus which moves from people to be more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives to later having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones. April 1st is 2 - Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation: duality experienced through releasing what no longer serves us, with the Sun square Jupiter which can be very useful for moving ahead with something you desire as long as you avoid excess and remain disciplined. Many will feel the urge to take on more than they can handle or have the resources to accomplish. Being overly optimistic and exuberant, we need to be careful of being extravagant, so this is best approached with restraint. This can also create difficulties with others, because many will express its influence as arrogant self righteousness. Since you're aware of this possibility you might want to approach those folks by looking for common ground and compassion for their point of view. The next few days the Sun will interact with the Cardinal T-Square which might feel ominous as we start to build toward the Grand Cross which will peak from the 20th to the 23rd. Also on the 1st the Taurus Moon harmonizes with Neptune and Jupiter which moves from being very sensitive to the moods of others, to later feeling in the flow and having a sense of wholeness. April 2nd is 3 - Manik "man-eek" or Deer: taking action through being of service to others, while Mercury trine Saturn may bring our thoughts to more serious concerns. This brings concentration and attention to details, with a practical focus and disciplined thinking. This transit favors heavy mental contemplating that requires a sharper mind and higher standards for quality. Work done on the 2nd will be more methodical and painstaking. This is good for organization, through looking at the details, although the overall perspective may be less available. More of seeing the trees than the forest. With Saturn involved with Mercury the day favors seeking counsel from an older person who has experienced the situations you are currently contemplating. Also on the 2nd the Moon in Taurus finds support from Pluto, harmonizes with Mercury, and opposes Saturn, which begins with intense emotions and stimulating sensitivity, which also favors sexual relationships, then later being very social and conservative, and finally feeling lonely and isolated. The 3rd is 4 - Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit: stability through being grateful for abundant relationships, with the Sun square Pluto which begins a tense time period when the Sun activates the Cardinal Grand Cross with Pluto, Uranus, and Jupiter. These planets are moving toward exactitude as the Aries Sun dances with each one in the first week of April. A square between the Sun and Pluto brings powerful forces that test us from within and without. These tests may lead us to make radical changes in some area of our life that is not working very well. This can be very beneficial for letting go of the old patterns or behaviors that come up for examination at this time. Holding on to what is not working will just make life more difficult. This transit also indicates that persons in authority may demand that we account for our actions or even ourselves. Some people will abuse the power they are wielding under this influence. Also this indicates a breakdown of situations and machinery. No matter what your experience something will make you aware that it needs fixing, and my advice is to fix it whether it's a machine, a relationship, a behavior, or pattern that no longer works. Also on the 3rd the moon is challenged by Venus and Neptune, which shifts from having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones, to later daydreams and fantasies feeling more important than reality. April 4th is 5 - Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: empowerment through appreciating creation, with the Gemini Moon in harmony with Uranus and the Sun, and finding support from Mars, which begins with pleasant yet restless energy that desires emotional excitement, then later feeling balance between our inner and outer worlds, and finally brings the energy for asserting ourselves in a positive manner and standing our ground if necessary. The 5th is 6 - Oc "awk" or Dog: being in the flow through enjoying family and friends, while Venus moves into Pisces which brings more awareness to the intuitive unseen realms inspiring spiritual and psychic experiences, but also brings the fog of illusion regarding love, romance, socializing and money. Also on the 5th the moon is challenged by Mercury and finds support from Venus, which moves from folks being critical in their communications particularly with the people they have intimate relationships with, to later enjoying social interactions with others. April 6th is 7 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: reflection through creating something new, with the Cancer Moon finding support from Neptune, merging with Jupiter, challenged by Uranus and opposed by Pluto, which begins with fantasies and daydreams distracting us from accomplishing routine tasks, then later good feelings and generosity towards others, and finally people are likely to act hasty and jump to conclusions, with deep emotions rising to the surface. The 7th is 8 - Eb "eb" or Road : balance through serving your community, with Mercury moving into Aries which brings our minds and communications into the realm of new beginnings, restlessness, impulsivity, impatience, the self and courage. In Aries Mercury gains strength imparting aggressiveness in thinking and dialog, and also brilliance to the intelligence. Expect people to become more outspoken and witty, but also impatient and self serving until it moves into Taurus on the 23rd. Also on the 7th the First Quarter Moon in Cancer is challenged by the Sun and Mars, and finds support from Saturn, which begins with challenges to following a daily routine, then shifts to people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes, and finally having a more sober realistic view of life. April 8th is 9 - Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: patience experienced through maintaining the home, with the Sun opposed Mars bringing a day to watch the tendency to be assertive based on your ego. This can be a time of culminations when projects and activities reach fruition. This can also be disruptive when the ego is operating unconsciously and leads to people blindly asserting themselves which in turn is met with opposition and resistance. Folks may be more irritable and aggressive under this influence, with confrontation seeming more likely. If you are interested in deepening your self-awareness, look what aspects of your internal and external environment are sparking any irritation or anger for what attitudes they hold in your current thinking. Once you've unpacked that baggage you might find that what is making you mad is of little importance. A lack of recognition of these undercurrents can lead to suppression which can cause illness or self-destructive behavior. Also on the 8th the Leo Moon finds support from Mercury which is about being more in touch with our feelings and able to share them with others. The 9th is 10 - Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: manifestation through enjoying nature, with the Moon in Leo supported by Uranus and the Sun, and in harmony with Mars, which moves from having the impulse to engage in activities that make us feel more alive, to having the desire to work independently from others, and finally having a sense of harmony within ourselves and supports any type of group activity and relationships with the opposite sex. April 10th is 11 - Men "men" or Eagle: resolution through seeing from a higher perspective, with the Moon in Leo challenged by Saturn which may have people feeling lonely or isolated. The 11th is 12 - Cib "keeb" or Wisdom: understanding through introspection, meditation and forgiveness, while Venus conjunct Neptune brings yet another wave of spiritual inspiration to surf in April. Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, unconditional love merges with romantic love. I have these two in a tight conjunction in my natal chart, which I've realized has influenced me to never stop loving any of my past partners regardless of how the relation ended. For me this aspect is life long, but it will influence all of us for a few days. The peak of this experience is about spirituality through love, compassion, and selflessness. The sense of a union of souls with another, or on the other side disappointment with a loved one for not meeting our expectations even the unrealistic ones. Daydreaming is common under this transit which may be a needed escape from reality, just remain aware of your surroundings. This does not favor practical thoughts, so you should probably delay decisions or actions that require good judgment particularly related to relationships or money. One of the best uses of this energy is creative or artistic work making the ideal real. Also on the 11th the Virgo Moon is opposed by Venus and Neptune, harmonizes with Jupiter, and finds support from Pluto, which moves from pleasant energy for enjoying sensual experiences and rich food with a caution against overindulgence, then feeling sensitive emotionally but confused regarding the accuracy of what's being felt, to later feeling in the flow and having a sense of wholeness, and finally feeling on a deeper more intense level under the influence of Pluto. April 12th is 13 - Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: movement to the next stage through gratitude for Mother Earth, with the Moon in Virgo in harmony with Saturn which brings realistic expectations through being calm and reflective.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Serpent trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
