Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for April 26th to May 8th 2014

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of April 26th 2014 for 1 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Taurus New Moon and Solar Eclipse, Venus moves into Aries, followed by Mercurymoving into Gemini.

April 26th 2014 for 1 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey carries the themes of new beginnings, good fortune, innocent curiosity leading to artistic expression, mischief similar to "Coyote spirit" and trickster gods in many native traditions, generosity, the "Jack of All Trades", weaving the threads of time, craftsmanship, and wisdom keeping. 1 - Monkey is the 131st day in the 260 day Tzolkin calendar marking the beginning of the second half of the round. The calendar starts with Crocodile as the primal nurturing energy for beginnings and the second half begins with Monkey as the artisan who creates something new. These are arbitrary points as many different Mayan groups celebrate different days to begin the Tzolkin round and ultimately it is just that, round like a circle having no beginning or end. The 1- Monkey trecena is a good thirteen day period to be generous with your creativity, wisdom, curiosity, and time to help others explore new beginnings and in doing so discovering something new in yourself.

We begin May during the Chuen "shoe-in" trecena. May is the fifth month and with the digits for 2014, when added together we get 12, then we add 1 + 2 to tell us that this is an twelve/three month in numerology. Basic numerology reduces numbers to one through nine, so when we think about that arc the 3 represents a time which brings creativity and a chance to let go of some of the intensity of the past two months. The twelve/three combination is represented by the Hanged Man/Empress tarot cards which is about our willingness to turn ourselves upside down to see from a new perspective through nurturing others and ourselves. Alan Cohen expressed the energy of the hanged man in "The world would have you agree with its dismal dream of limitation. But the light would have you soar like the eagle of your sacred visions." The Empress could be described from this quote from "The Road Less Traveled" by Scott Peck, "Love is the will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth." So May is a month to change our perspective to find freedom from limitation, through nurturing ourselves and others and expressing our creativity, love, happiness, and optimism, after coming through the fire of April. The three energetic is positive and encourages us to move forward feeling less encumbered than we felt a month ago. Perhaps something was removed from our grasp in April, May provides an opportunities to fill our open hands. I think May will bring a return to some much needed optimism, and inspiration, as we find our path revised after going through April's chaos and upheaval.

Before I get into the daily energy for 1 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey, on the 26th all the planets appear to move forward from our vantage point on Earth except Mars, Saturn, and Pluto which appear to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Mars which turned retrograde on March 1st will turn direct May 19th. During the first part of the month Mars, representing drive and aggression, is in Libra and appears to move backward from our perspective here on Earth. Mars is in its detriment in Libra because it is opposite Aries, the sign of Martian rulership, and is traditionally considered to have difficulty operating positively in Libra. Because of its retrograde cycle Mars will spend 8 months in the sign of the scales. Typically Mars spends two months in a sign so this placement for most of the year is uncomfortable and monotonous. Mars agitates and in Libra it's about relationships and can lead to social anger. This may cause us to see an increase in passive aggression. Mars is about drive and wanting to take action, but in Libra it's likely to be the drive to make someone else take action. Mars has been in Libra for several months and I've already seen folks competing for love. They are willing to fight for a partner. People are becoming aggressive in their quest for romantic love. Mars is also about sexuality, so retrograde Mars periods are contraindicated for beginning a satisfying sexual relationship. As much as Mars is unhappy in Libra, it's also very unhappy retrograde. This is a really difficult time to access our drive and aggressive energy. Saturn turned retrograde on March 2nd and turns direct on July 20th. Themes of Saturn in Scorpio are loss, depression, failure, fear, the shadow, betrayal, the stuff that goes deep. Superficial just won't cut it with Saturn in Scorpio. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands we take responsibility to review the scorpionic themes such as motives, ethics, and intensions. If we have not been clear on these subjects we are likely to feel our burden is heavier than the load we had previously agreed to carry. Pluto represents death, completion, and in Capricorn, the breakdown of structures, to bring about transformation. Pluto in Capricorn is determined in exposing the darkness, destroying the old order, so that we can rise up like the Phoenix from the ashes to soar again. Capricorn is about large structures which includes banks, governments, corporations, and religions. This is a time of a cosmic course correction for the entire planet. It is the resistance to Pluto's lesson of letting go of the past, that brings tragedy and pain. Capricorn is about building and achievement and as an earth sign it's rooted in the material world. The goat climbing the highest mountains is its symbol. Pluto rules the underworld so look for events from underground such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and giant sink holes, and events involving tunnels or subways, and infrastructures in general, but also battles for underground resources, such as oil and fracking. Capricorn is also about the elderly and in the U.S. we have a political battle over social security, which was paid for by people's payroll deductions and has nothing to do with the national debt, but because our government borrowed from social security and has no way to pay it back, they want to dismantle this life line for our seniors.

Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena. April 26th 2014 for 1 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: unity experienced through creating something new, while Mercury sextiles Neptune which positively stimulates imaginations and sensitivity to the world around us both physical and non physical through our intuition. This is not the best day for clarity or doing precision detailed work, instead turning our attention towards the spiritual aspects of life will be benefited. This could be a period of dreaminess where folks spend more time fantasizing. Withdrawal from life is not bad, and is often important for feeding the world within through inspiration, as the intangible reality is as important as the material world. This may be a time where we are more aware of what's going on in the minds of others, which may be difficult in keeping our intuitions organized. Clarity and detail are not favored at this time. Moon in Pisces makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Aries, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences. The 27th is 2 - Eb "eb" or Road: duality experienced through serving your community, with Sun sextile Neptune which lowers the demands of our egos allowing us to sense other people's energy and circumstances and makes us more willing to help out. This could be positive for fund raising for a charitable organization. This also encourages spiritual and mystical knowledge and experiences through spending time alone in a meditative state, particularly given that energy for physical activities will be lowered. Also on the 27th the Aries Moon is opposed by Mars, challenged by Pluto and Jupiter and merges with Uranus, which brings a day that shifts from people being more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives, to having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, and people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with moods changing quickly and unexpectedly, and finally having benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment. April 28th is 3 - Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: taking action through maintaining the home, while the Taurus Moon harmonizes with Neptune which greater sensitivity to others' emotions with possible psychic impressions for those who are open. The 29th is 4 - Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: stability through enjoying nature, with the Taurus New Moon and solar eclipse which has the moon merging with the Sun, and Mercury trine Pluto, sextile Jupiter, and opposed by Saturn. New moons are times of new beginnings and in Taurus is about shifting and changing the material world. With the solar eclipse we should focus on bringing practical matters into harmony with our new direction or purpose. New Moons bring the opportunity to set an intension for manifestation on the following full moon. Look to the house of your astrology chart that contains 8 degrees 52 minutes, almost 9 degrees Taurus to consider what area of your life is being activated by this new moon. For me that would be my eleventh house of friends, hopes and wishes, so I would set an intension related to using this energy. Moon trine Pluto brings out intense emotions and stimulates sensitivity. It also favors sexual relationships, but the lunation also merges with Mercury which has our rational mind being strongly influenced by our emotions. With this lunation sextile Jupiter, the day brings good feelings and congenial social interactions and the opposition from Saturn can bring feelings of lonely and isolated, so these two aspects tend to balance each other out. The new moon in Taurus is about security, practical concerns, money, land, real estate, and our physical bodies. So much of the energy indicates an increase in intensity and importance regarding the issues related to letting go of the old and stuck so that we can accept the new possibilities. Also on the 29th Mercury trine Pluto can bring concern about the deeper issues in life. This has people wanting to dig below the surface to uncover mysteries. On a personal level this can be excellent for inner work, so it might be a good day for some "alone time" to discover some of the deeper dimensions of your psyche. Communications may seem rather serious and profound. Thoughts will be more focused and gain insights about important developments. April 30th is 5 - Men "men" or Eagle: empowerment through seeing from a higher perspective, while Mercury sextiles Jupiter, which brings our attention to the larger issues in life. Many will find their minds wandering to thoughts about the future, as our hopes and wishes are more important under this influence. This is also good for thinking about the overall patterns in our lives. This is optimistic and brings a positive attitude. This is also good for business negotiations, contract discussions, and commercial transactions, as well as any dealing with the law. Travel also benefits so this would be good energy to start a trip. Also on the 30th the Moon in Taurus harmonizes with Venus which is about having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones. May 1st is 6 - Cib "keeb" or Wisdom: being in the flow through introspection, meditation and forgiveness, with Mercury sextile Chiron which may influence folks to express their wounding from the past and become aware of these past experiences to allow healing through talking through what is now conscious and ready to be released. Also on the 1st the Gemini Moon is challenged by Neptune, finds support from Mars and is stimulated by Uranus which shifts from bringing our dreams into the day's vibration, to feeling a little more confident than usual with the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner, and finally pleasant yet restless energy that desires emotional excitement. May 2nd is 7 - Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: reflection through gratitude for Mother Earth, whileMercury opposed by Saturn brings about serious thoughts concerning our relationship to the world. We will want to consider how we can meet our practical needs. This transit may have us feeling isolated as we are more inclined to look with a critical eye at our personal relationships. This is not the time to act on those thoughts because our thinking gets distorted by this transit. What we consider our troubles may seem significant but over time may diminish as this transit moves on. Our thoughts benefit from positive thinking to overcome the pessimistic energy. This may also have us thinking about separating from a loved one or saying goodbye to a relationship, but wait to act because Mercury opposed by Saturn can really distort our perspective. If you can control negative thinking, you can use this energy to plan changes as you will have a more critical eye for what is not working. This also brings discipline for heavy mental work, but remember to take breaks so your mood doesn't get pulled down in the process. Older people who you respect would be good to talk to if you need to get something of your chest. Also on the 2nd Venus enters Ariescontinuing to bring energy to burst forward on a new path, this time it's about our relationships, bringing new hope or a new lease on life. Also on the 2nd Moon in Gemini is void of course so avoiding major decisions or purchases on the 2nd, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences. The 3rd is 8 - Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint: balance through being introspective, with the Sun trine Pluto which brings very intense and powerful experiences which may illuminate our deepest psychology and darkest normally unseen mental realms. This is great transformational energy for investigation into what parts of our lives should be reformed. This transit illuminates our motives and is great for studying our inner workings. People are more likely to express themselves more forcefully which can make an impact on someone, but be careful of folks who use this energy for ruthless or selfish purposes. The best use of this energy is for your own personal growth and evolution. Also on the 8th the Cancer Moon is challenged by Venus and Mars, and finds support from Neptune which begins with pleasant energy for being with the others we want to know better, then later fantasies and daydreams distract us from accomplishing routine tasks, and finally people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes. May 4th is 9 - Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm: patience experienced through recognizing the gifts in adversity, while the Moon in Cancer is opposed by Pluto, harmonizes with the Sun, is challenged by Uranus, merges with Jupiter, and finds support from Saturn, which begins with deep emotions rising to the surface, then feeling balance between our inner and outer worlds, followed by people are likely to act hasty and jump to conclusions, later good feelings and generosity towards others, and finally having a sober realistic view of life. The 5th is 10 - Ahau "ah-how" or Sun: manifestation through honoring the wisdom and memory of our ancestors, while the moon in harmony with Mercury and finding support from Venus which moves from being very social and conversing with others to later enjoying pleasant feelings and social interactions. May 6th is 11 - Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile: resolution through nurturing new beginnings, with the Sun sextile Jupiter which is very positive for almost any activity. It brings a positive frame of mind that can be applied toward success. This "lucky" transit influences activities to work out as planned. Great energy to be with friends or work harmoniously in group situations as there is a strong energy to be included in something bigger then oneself. This is also good to reflect on our lives and goals, but it does caution against blindly assuming everything will work out perfectly, so we might want to review any plans for the future. With Jupiter involved it is easier to see the big picture. This also helps in relationships with people in authority as there is a desire to be "at one" with the sources of universal energy, and on the most mundane level that includes the desire to get along with those in power. Also on the 6th we have the First Quarter Moon in Leo being stimulated by Mars, finding support from Uranus, and challenged by the Sun which moves from the desire to work independently from others, to later having the impulse to engage in activities that make us feel more alive, and later we encounter challenges to our daily routines. The 7th is 12 - Ik "eek" or Wind: understanding through communication, while Mercury moves into Gemini which is beneficial because Mercury rules Gemini. This is very fast energy that will speed up communications and interest in a wider variety of topics for the rest of the month when Mercury moves into Cancer on the 29th where it will turn retrograde next month and return to Gemini on June 17th. While in Gemini Mercury brings spontaneity to socialization in life. Also on the 7th the Sun sextiles Chiron which illuminates wounds to allow healing, while the Leo Moon is challenged by Saturn which has people feeling lonely or isolated. May 8th is 13 - Akbal "awk-bol" or Night: movement to the next stage through contemplating the stars, while the Virgo Moon is challenged by Mercury and opposed by Neptune which shifts from folks being critical in their communications particularly with the people they have intimate relationships with, to later feeling sensitive emotionally but confused regarding the accuracy of what's being felt.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Monkey trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
