This is the "Care and feeding
of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of February 5th 2016 and 1
– Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile in the Mayan
Tzolkin calendar, with the Aquarius New Moon, the
Chinese New Year of the Red Fire Monkey, Mercury entering Aquarius, and Venus also
entering Aquarius.
February 5th is 1
– Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile with the themes of beginnings,
Mother Earth, protection and trust, nurturing, primordial energy, new
opportunities and information, instincts, primal creativity, water-lily,
abundance, the essence of nature, beauty, receptivity and growth. Much like
other indigenous people who believed that the Earth was carried on the back of
a turtle, the Maya believed that our planet was carried on the back of a
crocodile who would nurture and protect all life forms. They believed that from
this primal force humans received messages and feelings about our connection to
Mother Earth. This thirteen day period would be excellent to spend time in
nature and listen to the subtle messages from Gaia. With One crocodile, we
begin a 260 day Tzolkin round which ends with 13 – Ahau on October 21st 2016.
This being the 1 - Crocodile trecena: unity through nurturing new beginnings
and the beginning of a new Tzolkin round, I thought I would talk about the
Tzolkin Calendar. Which Ian Lungold referred to as the personal calendar of the
Maya. The Tzolkin is a 260 day calendar made of 13 galactic tones numbered 1 to
13 and 20 sacred sun signs. The combination of these two intensions were so
important to the Maya, that their Day Sign was their first name, because it set
their life's intension. For instance my Day Sign is 13 - Imix or Crocodile
which is about moving to the next level through nurturing new beginnings.
That's what I'm here to do. I ascend in consciousness through nurturing others
to have new experiences. If you're interested, Mayan Majix is a great resource
for all things Tzolkin, including my favorite the "Mayan Calendar and
Conversion Codex." This diagram shows the 20 sacred sun signs.
Each sign is colored to show its relationship to the four directions and four
elements. We begin with Crocodile which is red representing east, fire, and birthing. Next is Wind in
white connected to North, air, and the mind. Then Night is blue
representing the west, water and endings, and Seed in
yellow is aligned with the south, earth and the body. As we move around the
wheel the pattern stays consistent, red, white, blue, yellow, red and so on. I
find it interesting that each trecena ends with the same direction it starts
with so the groupings of 13 days follow the same pattern 1 - Crocodile is red,
followed by 1 - Jaguar white, followed by 1 - Deer blue, and 1 - Sun yellow.
If you follow your personal Tzolkin you may know that every 65 days we
experience "burner days" relative to our Day Sign. For instance I am
13 - Crocodile so I experience more intense growth opportunities on the days
leading up to and including 13 - Crocodile, 13-Transformation, 13-Monkey, and
13-Wisdom, which likewise follows the pattern of red, white, blue, and
yellow. The colored halos around the day signs and the squares that
connect them are to demonstrate the five burner sets.
February 8th begins the Chinese new year of the Red
Fire Monkey. Actually the Chinese have two
beginnings. The first day of the Red Fire Monkey is February 4th 2016, and the
Chinese New Year’s day is the 8th. So in January we wrapped up the year of the
Green Wood Sheep. Monkey contains Metal and Water, according to Chinese Five
Elements Horoscopes. Metal is associated with gold and Water with wisdom and
danger. We have more financial events in the year of the Monkey. Monkey is
described as intelligent, naughty, vigilant, and wily. Financial success in
Monkey years comes from investments that are cleaver and outsmart the
competition. The Metal element is also associated with Wind, which implies that
events can change very quickly, so it’s important to carefully consider all
changes regarding career, finance, and relationships whether professional or
personal during a Monkey year. People born in Monkey years are witty, smart and
have magnetic personalities. The element for this Monkey year is Fire and the
color is Red. Fire is associated with passion, intensity, visible light,
burning, soap, bleach, rust, oil, clay, flowers and fruit, and the soul. Fire
Monkeys are the most aggressive Monkeys and gravitate towards leadership roles
and competition. The sheep year brought financial difficulties and conservative
strategies when dealing with investments of peoples' own resources. The Monkey
is more likely to take risks, which may or may not be successful, based on
being able to trick others. Fire influences reckless behavior which may not
work out to the monkey’s advantage. Fire Monkeys seek to be in control and can
become overbearing. Once the Red Monkey reaches the top, he is more likely
display people skills and nurture those under his authority who need his
support. Fire Monkeys are flamboyant and charming, and have large social
circles.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Imix
"e-meesh" or Crocodile,
on the 5th all the planets appear to be moving forward from our vantage point
on Earth, except Jupiter which appear to move
retrograde or in reverse motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are
the review the past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being
played out. Jupiter was the king of the gods,
and the planet is about good fortune, opportunities, faith, religion, beliefs
and expansion. Jupiter is in Virgo and Virgo is about organization, health, and
service. Mostly what I find with Jupiter retrograde, as with any retrograde
cycle there is a review of the past, and with Jupiter what gets reviewed are
missed opportunities.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
February 5th 2016 is 1
– Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile: unity
experienced through nurturing new beginnings in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Venus conjunct Pluto, when we merge the energy of romantic love with the energy of
death and rebirth, we get contacted by ex-lovers or we contact them. Typically
if the relationship had problems before, thus becoming ex-lovers, re-connecting
to a past romantic interest does not yield a sustainable relationship. So unless
there is a significant reason for expecting different results, I encourage
folks to fight the urge to merge with the ex. Regardless this does intensify
love experiences. Some feel insecure in their relationship which can lead to
feeling possessive or jealous. Venus transits are relatively quick so be
careful not to do or say something that cannot be corrected. Also on the 5th the
Capricorn Moon harmonizing with Neptune
brings greater sensitivity to others' emotions with possible psychic
impressions for those who are open.
The 6th is 2 – Ik "eek" or
Wind: duality experienced through communication, with the Sun sextile Uranus, which makes the day more interesting, from our encounters with
others being more illuminating, to enlightened experiences while moving through
our normal routine. This stimulates our curiosity and imaginations. Folks are
quick witted and conversations are lively, but they also may be less tolerant
of any restrictions. Under this influence it's more important to be true to
your authentic individual self, than meeting other people's expectations. Also on the 6th, Mercury trine Jupiter,
which is great energy for making plans for the
future from an overview perspective. This transit does influence us to take the
easy way out and avoid difficult intellectual and mental problems. Mercury
supported by Jupiter is good for business dealings and signing contracts, as we
find our minds are sharper to see opportunities that normally are overlooked.
This is optimistic and promotes positive thinking and studying subjects that
deal with high level thought such as law, philosophy, religion. Jupiter’s
influence on Mercury brings open mindedness and positive communication to reach
a greater understanding. Also on the 6th, Venus squares
Uranus, which has folks seeking excitement in
their love relationships, this can include picking a fight to experience a
different aspect of interacting. The beginning of February is intense as we
have the planet of love, but also money in Capricorn being challenged by the
"Winds of Change". Because Uranus is involved this is unpredictable
but also can be drastic with Pluto in concert. Themes of this energetic might
be an unexpected stock market drop, a change in spending due to scarcity, or a
currency change in oil markets where the dollar had been the preferred
measurement of value. On a personal level, folks are looking for something
exciting, out of the ordinary, and so if your relationship has become dull or
predictable this is the time to inject it with a new experience, rather than
have it erupt into a fight about "how we never do anything
interesting..." Basically the less flexibility in a relationship during
this transit, the more damaging this alignment is likely to be. Also on the 6th the
Moon in Capricorn merges with Pluto, Venus, and Mercury, is challenged by
Uranus, stimulated by Mars, and supported by Jupiter. The day’s emotional
energy begins with having more intense
moods rising to the surface from deep in our psyches, with feeling cheerful,
warm, gregarious, and wanting to go out and socialize, followed by people are
likely to act hasty and jump to conclusions, then brings the desire to work
independently from others, later positive energy for integrating our thoughts
and moods, and finally people having a pleasant sense of well-being.
February
7th is 3 – Akbal "awk-bol" or Night: taking action through
contemplating the stars, while the Sun squares
Mars which is a day when we are more conscious of
ourselves and our motivations. This could be a day where we observe serious ego
conflicts between people. Folks will be looking for vulnerabilities in others,
flaws in arguments, any errors which can be challenged, or any other chink in
the armor of the other. This is a high energy transit, perhaps too high if
we're not careful. So watch for signs of people becoming irritable or
impatient, especially when things don't go exactly as planned. Probably it's
best to avoid being assertive unless it's absolutely called for. This is also a
time where people are projecting their irritability and aggression on others
without realizing that it's originating within themselves. A day to be
particularly careful of conflict with authority, even if their claims are
legitimate, we are likely to encounter a hostile reaction during this transit.
It would be good to vent this energy into some type of physical activity that
will give your aggressions a satisfactory outlet. Without an outward expression
this type of energy can lead to illness or accidents, or if projected will
attract angry and difficult people. Also on the 7th,
Venus sextiles Mars, which favors love relationships and the formation
of friendships. This brings balance between being self assertive and the desire
to relate to others. In romantic or sexual relationships this comes about
through a "give and take" process and in friendships we encourage
others to be their selves by being authentic ourselves. This also brings action
(Mars) to creative projects (Venus). Over all it is a drive to beautify. A
great day to be with others at a party, or a night "out on the town"
with the energy for lively interactions, particularly with the opposite sex. This
is also good for investments in something new and unique. Also on the 7th the
Aquarius Moon makes no angles which is
good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and
experiences.
The 8th is 4
– Kan "con" or Seed or Lizard: stability
through planting seeds and making new connections, with we have the Aquarius New Moon, which
harmonizes with Saturn and Uranus, is challenged by Mars, and merges with the
Sun. Aquarius illuminates social justice, impartiality, freedom, individuality,
and innovation. Traditionally ruled by Saturn, with the modern ruler being
Uranus, this is an interesting New Moon with both modern and traditional ruling
planets in sextile to the lunation. This new moon Saturn aspect represents
wanting to be alone in our thoughts and feelings, and having realistic
expectations through being calm and reflective, at a time of new beginnings,
balanced with pleasant yet restless feelings craving emotional excitement to do
something outside the daily routine in aspect to Uranus, and challenged by Mars
can have people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes. Mars
in Scorpio square the New Moon can bring out fierce behavior, so this fresh
start could have a volatile quality to it. Uranus supports taking the
initiative and making deep changes, think transformation. New Moons bring the opportunity to set an intension for
manifestation on the following full moon. Look to the house of your astrology
chart that contains 19 degrees 16 minutes of Aquarius to consider what area of
your life is being activated by this new moon. For me that would be my ninth
house of long distance travel, and higher education, so I would set an
intension related to using this energy. This New Moon is particularly potent
for make big changes through taking a leap of faith leading us deeper into
2016, as the Chinese Year of the Red Fire Monkey begins with this new moon. Also on the 8th,
Venus sextile Chiron helps to soften the process of healing wounds while
gaining wisdom from our relationships.
February 9th is 5 – Chicchan
"chee-chan" or Serpent: empowerment through being flexible, with
Mars trine Chiron is supportive for taking action to heal wounds, especially
those related to sex and aggression. Also on the 9th the Pisces Moon merges
with Neptune which brings feelings
of empathy for those around us, including the possibility of clairvoyance and
telepathic experiences for those of us who are sensitive by nature.
The
10th is
6 – Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation: being
in the flow through releasing what no longer serves us, while Venus trines Jupiter,
which is one of the best transits except for its short duration, as it brings
ease, grace, and pleasant social interactions. As with any Jupiter Venus
transit, this can bring laziness and self indulgent behavior. Most will
experience this as a needed break from the "daily grind". This is
great energy for social interactions, entertainment, and amusements. Romance
and financial interests are favored under this transit, along with traveling or
taking a vacation the begins at this time as it indicates that the journey will
be fun, enlightening, and rewarding. Due to the low energy of this transit,
this is not the best time to start any enterprise that requires a great deal of
energy. Also on the 10th the Moon in Pisces is challenged by Saturn, harmonizes
with Pluto, Venus, and Mercury, finds support from Mars, and is opposed by
Jupiter. This is another day of diverse lunar stimulation that shifts from people feeling lonely or isolated, to experiencing deep emotions on a profound level, followed by feeling a little more confident than usual with
the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner, then people having feelings of generosity, later wanting to be with friends and the people we
love,
and finally people feeling chatty and having numerous conversations.
February 11th is 7 – Manik "man-eek"
or Deer: reflection through being of service
to others, with Moon in Pisces making no
angles and is void of course until moving into Aries, which does not favor
major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this
latest round of energy and experiences.
The
12th is
8 Lamat
"la-maught" or Star or Rabbit: balance through being grateful for
abundant relationships, with the Aries Moon supported by Saturn, challenged by
Pluto and Venus, merging with Uranus, and in harmony with the Sun, which moves
from having a sober realistic
view of life, to having the compulsion to
act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run,
followed by people feeling impulsive
and acting rashly, with moods changing quickly and unexpectedly, then
later feeling balance between
our inner and outer worlds, and finally having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones.
February
13th is 9 – Muluc
"moo-luke" or Offering: patience experienced through appreciating
creation, while Mercury enters Aquarius, or returns to Aquarius after spending
one week in the water barer prior to turning retrograde, and backing into
Capricorn. Mercury moving into Aquarius shifts the focus of communications
and thinking to social consciousness, while being true to our individuality to
share our inventive ideas with groups and communities. Also on the 13th, Mars sextile
Jupiter, which is a positive transit. Jupiter brings opportunities for activities, and favors
beginning new enterprises, Jupiter may bring confidence in relation to Mars.
With this much Martian energy, exercise may be helpful to release the surge of
drive in a positive activity. This is positive for negotiations, with
objectives and goals clearer than usual, which enables intelligent dealings.
This is a time of personal growth by expanding the range of our experiences and
activities.
Also on the 13th the Moon being
challenged by Mercury and in harmony with Neptune changes from folks being
critical in their communications particularly with the people they have
intimate relationships with, to later being very sensitive to the moods of
others.
The
14th is
10 – Oc "awk" or Dog: manifestation through
enjoying family and friends, with the Taurus Moon supported by Pluto and
Jupiter, and opposed by Mars, which shifts from bringing out intense emotions and stimulating
sensitivity, which also favors sexual relationships,
followed by feelings of inner and outer
equanimity, and finally opposed
by Mars, which influences people to be more excitable and irritable which can
cause problems in our personal lives.
February 15th
is 11 – Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey:
resolution through creating something new, while the first quarter Moon is
challenged by the Sun, and supported by Venus and Mercury, which moves from having challenges to following a daily routine,
followed by enjoying pleasant
feelings and social interactions, and finally being more in touch with our feelings and able
to share them with others.
The
16th is 12 – Eb "eb" or Road: understanding
through serving your community, with Venus
enters Aquarius, which brings a more
intellectual and detached influence regarding love, romance, and socializing. Also
on the 16th the Gemini Moon is challenged by Neptune and Jupiter, opposed by
Saturn, and stimulated by Uranus, which shifts from bringing our dreams into the day's vibration, to later feeling lonely and isolated, followed by pleasant yet restless feelings craving emotional
excitement to do something outside the daily routine, and finally
bringing benevolent and generous
feelings for those in our immediate environment.
February 17th is 13
– Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: movement to
the next stage through maintaining the home, with the Moon in Gemini finding
support from the Sun which brings a sense of harmony within ourselves and supports any type of
group activity and relationships with the opposite sex.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Crocodile trecena,
take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a
sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment
through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is
a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the
performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe
the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a
human experience.
