Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for April 10th to April 22nd 2016

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of April 10th 2016 and 1 – Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Mars turning retrograde, followed by Pluto turning retrograde, the Sun entering Taurus, and the Scorpio Full Moon.

April 10th is 1 – Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation carries the themes of death and rebirth, forgiveness, surrender, guidance of women through pregnancy, new beginnings through the release of what no longer serves us, psychic abilities and self actualization. The transformation day sign speaks of a choice to follow our heart's intuition and the wisdom of our ancestors, nature and Mother Earth or the path of ego and the dialogue of our chattering mind. I believe we all chose to incarnate during this time of intense transformation, so it is important that we flow with the cosmic changes. That's the reason for sharing these reports, so that you'll have the information to prepare for difficult time periods but also to savor the times when the energy is allowing an ease in the opening/expansion of consciousness. The readings I provide, dial that in for you on a much deeper personal level, but these reports have good overall information for navigating these uncertain times. There may be growing pains associated with transformation but I believe it is resistance to these evolutionary shifts that creates suffering.

Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation, on the 10th all the planets appear to be moving forward from our vantage point on Earth, except Jupiter and Saturn which appear to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are the review the past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being played out. Jupiter was the king of the gods, and the planet is about good fortune, opportunities, faith, religion, beliefs and expansion. Jupiter is in Virgo and Virgo is about organization, health, and service. Mostly what I find with Jupiter retrograde, as with any retrograde cycle there is a review of the past, and with Jupiter what gets reviewed are missed opportunities. Retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius delays success until perseverance and patience are learned. Sagittarius themes are travel, education, adventure, expanding our horizons, and planning for upcoming experiences. Saturn brings the details to the grand overview of Sagittarius. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands we take responsibility to review our beliefs while in Sagittarius.

The big change for this Transformation trecena is that Mars turns retrograde on April 17th, followed by Pluto on April 18th. As I said last report, April is the fourth month and with the digits for 2016, when added together we get 13, then we add 1 + 3 to tell us that this is a thirteen/four month in numerology. The thirteen/four combination is represented by the Death/Emperor tarot cards which is about our releasing the unnecessary and obstacles to moving forward on our paths to ultimately empower others through our example of selfless and enlightened leadership. The Death Tarot card is also the Scorpio card in the Thoth deck, and in April both the traditional ruler Mars, and the modern ruler Pluto, turn retrograde a day apart from each other. And to add to the synchronicity they are turning retrograde during the Cimi or transformation trecena, which of course has many of the same characteristics of Scorpio, Death, Mars, and Pluto.

Mars appears to move in reverse on the 17th. Of course planets don't really move backward. It's more like when you are in a car, passing a slower car, that car appears to move backwards relative to distant landmarks on the horizon. So during the end of March and the beginning of April, Mars appears to slow down, stop and begin to move in reverse, which is called retrograde by astrologers. When a planet appears stopped or stationed, it is said to be at the peak of its power. During this report period Mars, representing drive and aggression, is in Sagittarius. Mars will retrograde back into Scorpio, the sign of its traditional rulership on May 27th. Saturn is currently retrograde in Sagittarius, but last year it retrograded from 4 degrees 55 minutes Sagittarius to 28 degrees 17 minutes Scorpio, this year Mars retrogrades from 8 degrees 53 minutes Sagittarius to 23 degrees 3 minutes Scorpio, so the Mars retrograde encapsulates last year’s Saturn retrograde, which is likely to revisit events and experiences that were limited and stuck during the time of the past year's Saturn retrograde, with more aggression and action as Mars retraces its steps. The dates of the corresponding Saturn retrograde where from March 14th to August 2nd 2015. If you keep a journal or records you might want to  review what was going on in your life at that time for anything that seemed at an impasse or obstructed, and has yet to be realized, as Mars brings energy for action particularly between May 12th and June 2nd, when retrograde Mars exactly retraces last year’s Saturn retrograde.

Mars began the 1st stage of offering us a course correction on 2/18/16 when it first crossed the point in the zodiac where it will eventually begin moving forward again at 23 Scorpio, from then to 4/17/16, we are gathering information and energy related to an upcoming change of course. On the 17th Mars begins the 2nd stage which lasts until 6/29/16, where the retrograde movement has us going back over the details from the 1st stage, as we have experiences that give us an indication of what needs to change in our lives. As an aside, sexual relationships that begin during a Mars retrograde cycle may be less than satisfying. Mars turns direct on 6/29 and begins the 3rd stage which lasts until 8/23 which is the time to implement the course correction that we will become aware of through this process. To understand how you will personally be impacted, look at the area governed by the house of your astrological chart that contains the arc between 23 Scorpio and 9 degrees Sagittarius. Mythological Mars, is the Roman counterpart to Aries, the Greek god of war, bloodshed, and violence. Homer portrayed him as moody and unreliable, and representing the chaos of war, whereas Athena was the goddess of military strategy and skill. Mars seems to be more of a berserker than a soldier. Retrograde Mars in Sagittarius has us reviewing our drives related to our beliefs, and in Scorpio the ethics of our actions are reviewed.

Pluto turns retrograde on the 18th. When Pluto, the planet of transformation through a death and rebirth cycle, turns retrograde, which is about reviewing the past, it begins a time of releasing anything from the past that is a burden to our new path. We can choose to let go or we can have it ripped from our hands, we have a choice about how we want to react, but Pluto will take our baggage regardless of our attachment, if it doesn't have a purpose in our rebirth. What I find interesting about the astrology of April is Pluto in Capricorn slows to a stop and begins its reverse or retrograde motion on the 18th. As I said before, planets are said to be at the peak of their power when they are stopped. Pluto represents death, completion, and in Capricorn, the breakdown of structures, to bring about transformation. Pluto moved into Capricorn in 2008 which was the point when the overly optimistic investments of Pluto in Sagittarius started to crash. Pluto in Capricorn is determined in exposing the darkness, destroying the old order, so that we can rise up like the Phoenix from the ashes to soar again. Pluto will be in Capricorn until 2024, and early in its transit through a sign there is a breakdown phase, where something that no longer serves us is dismantled to create space for something new. Capricorn is about large structures which includes banks, governments, corporations, and religions. This is a time of a cosmic course correction for the entire planet. We cannot continue to harm Mother Earth for the economic gain of a few. Pluto is about power and empowerment which I believe is about our spiritual evolution from being conditioned to live in fear of not getting our needs met, like too many rats in a maze, to realizing there is enough for all, we don't need to fight each other. We have been sold, and at a high price I might add, the concept of "manufactured lack". It is the resistance to Pluto's lesson of letting go of the past, that brings tragedy and pain.

Capricorn is about building and achievement and as an earth sign it's rooted in the material world. The goat climbing the highest mountains is its symbol. Pluto rules the underworld so look for events from underground such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and giant sink holes, and events involving tunnels or subways, and infrastructures in general, but also battles for underground resources, such as oil and fracking. Here in Maine we are battling the Nestle corporation as their subsidiary Poland Springs is taking legal action against the locals over water rights, as they drain the aquifer for profit, while people's wells are going dry. Capricorn is also about the elderly and in the U.S. we have a political battle over social security, which was paid for by people's payroll deductions and has nothing to do with the national debt, but because our government borrowed from social security and has no way to pay it back, they want to dismantle this life line for our seniors.

Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
April 10th 2016 is 1 – Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation: unity experienced through releasing what no longer serves us in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Gemini Moon harmonizes with Venus, is opposed by Mars, and challenged by Neptune which brings emotional energy that shifts from wanting to be with friends and the people we love, to later influencing people to be more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives, and finally daydreams and fantasies feeling more important than reality.

The 11th is 2 – Manik "man-eek" or Deer: duality experienced through being of service to others, as the Moon in Gemini is challenged by Jupiter, opposed by Saturn, and harmonizes with Uranus and the Sun, which moves from benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, to later feeling lonely and isolated, followed by pleasant yet restless energy that desires emotional excitement, and finally feelings of inner and outer equanimity.

April 12th is 3 Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit or Venus: taking action through being grateful for abundant relationships, while Mercury sextiles Neptune which positively stimulates imaginations and sensitivity to the world around us, both physical and non physical through our intuition. This is not the best day for clarity or doing precision detailed work, instead turning our attention towards the spiritual aspects of life will be benefited. This could be a period of dreaminess where folks spend more time fantasizing. Withdrawal from life is not bad, and is often important for feeding the world within through inspiration, as the intangible reality is as important as the material world. This may be a time where we are more aware of what's going on in the minds of others, which may be difficult in keeping our intuitions organized. Clarity and detail are not favored at this time. Also on the 12th Venus trine Mars, which can have a variety of effects, most of which are favorable. This brings the energy to be assertive without offending others as folks appreciate directness. This brings a nice balance between your need to be an individual with personal wants and needs, and your need to relate with others. Whenever there is contact between Venus and Mars there is the likelihood of an aroused sex drive. People are more likely to be charming and agreeable. It brings the concern that a partner is enjoying the relationship as well, which fulfills an important requirement of a successful sexual connection. A relationship begun at this time has a good chance of lasting, but even if it is a short term liaison, they are usually satisfying and without bitterness at the time of parting. Also on the 12th the Cancer Moon is challenged Venus, and supported by Neptune, which changes from pleasant energy for being with the others we want to know better, to later our innermost subconscious fantasies and daydreams confusing reality, which may not be great for accomplishing much work.

The 13th is 4 Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: stability through appreciating creation, with the first quarter Moon in Cancer in harmony with Mercury and Jupiter, opposed by Pluto, and challenged by Uranus and the Sun, which shits from people feeling chatty and having numerous conversations, to feeling in the flow and having a sense of wholeness, followed by deep emotions rising to the surface, to later folks acting hasty and jumping to conclusions that may not be correct, and finally brings challenges to following a daily routine.

April 14th is 5 – Oc "awk" or Dog: empowerment through enjoying family and friends, with Mercury trine Jupiter, which is great energy for making plans for the future from an overview perspective. This transit does influence us to take the easy way out and avoid difficult intellectual and mental problems. Mercury supported by Jupiter is good for business dealings and signing contracts, as we find our minds are sharper to see opportunities that normally are overlooked. This is optimistic and promotes positive thinking and studying subjects that deal with high level thought such as law, philosophy, religion. Also on the 14th the Moon in Cancer makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Leo, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences.

The 15th is 6 Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: being in the flow through creating something new, as the Leo Moon finds support from Mars, Venus, and Saturn, and is challenged by Mercury which moves from feeling a little more confident than usual with the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner, followed by enjoying pleasant feelings and social interactions, to later folks being critical in their communications particularly with the people they have intimate relationships with, and finally having a sober realistic view of life.

April 16th is 7 Eb "eb" or Road: reflection through serving your community, with the Moon in Leo supported by Uranus and the Sun which changes from having a desire for emotional excitement to engage in activities outside our daily routine, to later having a sense of harmony within ourselves and supports any type of group activity and relationships with the opposite sex.

The 17th is 8 – Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: balance through maintaining the home, with Mars turning retrograde highlighting our assertive and aggressive energy and beginning a time when more effort is required to achieve the same results. This begins a two and a half month period of reviewing what we are putting our energy and drive into. In Sagittarius retrograde Mars has us reviewing our actions related to our beliefs, and in Scorpio our ethical drives get reconsidered, in the sign of Mars’ traditional rulership. Also on the 17th Mercury trine Pluto, which can bring concern about the deeper issues in life. This has people wanting to dig below the surface to uncover mysteries. On a personal level this can be excellent for inner work, so it might be a good day for some "alone time" to discover some of the deeper dimensions of your psyche. Communications may seem rather serious and profound. Thoughts will be more focused and gain insights about important developments. Also on the 17th the Virgo Moon is challenged by Mars, opposed by Neptune, and merges with Jupiter, which shifts from people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes, followed by feeling sensitive emotionally but confused regarding the accuracy of what's being felt, and finally having good feelings and generosity towards others.

April 18th is 9 – Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: patience experienced through enjoying nature, with Pluto turning retrograde, which is about reviewing the past and will require releasing anything from the past that is a burden to our new path. Pluto is affecting many of us as it changes directions at 17 degrees of Capricorn to spend about six months appearing to move in reverse from our vantage point on Earth. This is a time of increasing intensity and force, when superficiality will not be enough. This will be particularly intense for people with personal planets at 17 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn. Also on the 18th Venus trine Saturn, which brings some reliability, stability and a clearer perspective on our relationships. People will recognize their loved one as human, and as long as we live up to our obligations, they will likely do the same. Venus is also about money so this may have folks being more conservative with their limited resources. Relationships begun under this transit tend to be stable and sobering, more practical than romantic. Also on the 18th the Moon in Virgo is challenged by Saturn, and supported by Pluto and Mercury which moves from people feeling lonely or isolated, to later feeling on a deeper more intense level, and finally feeling in touch with our emotions and expressing them to others.

The 19th is 10 – Men "men" or Eagle: manifestation through seeing from a higher perspective, while the Sun enters Taurus which illuminates purposeful determination and becoming efficient in practical matters for a month. This brings a grounded earth quality as many are working the soil in hopes of a harvest. This also may bring more of a focus on security, both emotionally and materially, along with having the resources needed to live comfortably. Also on the 19th Venus square Pluto, which intensifies our emotional experiences and expression. It also brings a few days that are more challenging for relationships, as it brings secrets out into the open. This is a time of being drawn into powerful love experiences that change our consciousness, at least for a time. This may bring changes to a relationship, that our only recourse is to surrender and accommodate the shift, which can be difficult because we crave stability in relationships, and at times like this relationships are anything but stable. Probably the best option is to hold loosely to those we love for a few days before and after the 19th. This could also be a time when we might hear from or contemplate contacting a former lover as Venus dances with Pluto. Also on the 19th the Moon in Virgo makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Libra, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences.

April 20th is 11 –  Cib "keeb" or Wisdom: resolution through introspection, meditation and forgiveness, while the Libra Moon harmonizes with Mars and Saturn, is challenged by Pluto, and opposed by Venus, which changes from having the desire to work independently from others, to later realistic expectations through being calm and reflective, followed by having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, and finally pleasant energy for enjoying sensual experiences and rich food with a caution against overindulgence.

The 21st is 12 – Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: understanding through gratitude for Mother Earth, while the Moon in Libra is opposed by Uranus which has folks feeling emotionally excitable and acting impulsive.

April 22nd is 13 – Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint: movement to the next stage through being introspective, with the Scorpio Full Moon at 2 degrees 31 minutes with the moon opposed by the Sun, finding support from Neptune, and in harmony with Jupiter. Neptune’s influence on the lunation brings up our innermost subconscious fantasies and daydreams confusing reality, which may not be great for accomplishing much work. With the lunation sextile Jupiter, the day brings good feelings and congenial social interactions. Full moons are a time of tension as the Sun in Taurus is about balancing practical and material concerns, with the emotional and spiritual realms in our life, represented by the Moon in Scorpio. Native Americans called this the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Full Egg Moon, and to costal tribes the Full Fish Moon, as fish swam upstream to spawn. It is also known as the Full Pink Moon with the sprouting of the earliest wild flowers. Also on the 22nd Venus conjuncts Uranus which brings a day that's full of surprises, and is wonderful for self expression in relationships, but we should be careful of unexpected disruptions in relationships if folks are feeling bored and that it's become routine. The energy merges the planet of money and love with the planet of the unexpected and independence, so the results could be shocking, but not necessarily bad. Someone who has been unable to free themselves from a horrible relationship may find the courage to leave. Someone may unexpectedly have a financial windfall or enter into an exciting new love connection, but we could also see the stock market or another financial system collapse. Basically with Uranus involved the results are unpredictable. Relationships begun under this type of transit are usually very exciting and unstable. Financial opportunities, likewise, could yield unexpected gains or losses.

So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Transformation trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
