Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for March 28th to April 9th 2016

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of March 28th 2016 and 1 – Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Venus entering Aries, followed by Mercury entering Taurus, and the Aries New Moon.

March 28th is 1 – Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn with the themes of of growth and sustenance, journeying in new directions, photosynthesis, protectors of the home and family, sharing with others,... peace, harmony, and order, strength in being flexible, the crusader or champion, and the World Tree energy that connects heaven and earth. Quetzalcoatl the god-king Feathered Serpent was prophesied to return in the year 1 Reed. Quetzalcoatl is credited for replacing human sacrifice with flowers, songs and meditation. The reed connects light energy with earth energy in an integration of multidimensional existence. This trecena is a time to be grateful for family and home. So share your most precious home, your open and loving heart.

Since we begin a new Gregorian month during this trecena, I thought I'd discuss the metaphysics of the upcoming month. April is the fourth month and with the digits for 2016, when added together we get 13, then we add 1 + 3 to tell us that this is a thirteen/four month in numerology. Basic numerology reduces numbers to one through nine, so when we think about that arc the 4 represents a time which brings integration of the creative energy from March, as we experience April's events and complete what was begun over the past three months. The four month is about organization, and planning as we move towards the peak of the cycle during the five month of May. The thirteen/four combination is represented by the Death/Emperor tarot cards which is about our releasing the unnecessary and obstacles to moving forward on our paths to ultimately empower others through our example of selfless and enlightened leadership. The Death card in the Tarot could be described by this quote from Mahatma Gandhi "Birth and death are not two different states, but they are different aspects of the same state." The Death Tarot card is also the Scorpio card in Aleister Crowley's Thoth deck, and in April both the scorpionic traditional ruler; Mars, and modern ruler; Pluto turn retrograde a day apart from each other. Mercury also turns retrograde, which will have us reviewing information before the final ascent, so we can move to the next level of manifestation. John Heider describes the Emperor energetic in the Tao of Leadership "Enlightened leadership is service, not selfishness. The leader grows more and lasts longer by placing the well-being of all, above the well-being of self alone." So this April we are engaged in letting go of baggage and completing tasks so our load is lighter, and leading by example to empower others through service, as we plan and organize to reach May's summit representing breakthrough, freedom and change as the five month in numerology.

Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn, on the 28th all the planets appear to be moving forward from our vantage point on Earth, except Jupiter and Saturn which appear to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are the review the past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being played out. Jupiter was the king of the gods, and the planet is about good fortune, opportunities, faith, religion, beliefs and expansion. Jupiter is in Virgo and Virgo is about organization, health, and service. Mostly what I find with Jupiter retrograde, as with any retrograde cycle there is a review of the past, and with Jupiter what gets reviewed are missed opportunities. Retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius delays success until perseverance and patience are learned. Sagittarius themes are travel, education, adventure, expanding our horizons, and planning for upcoming experiences. Saturn brings the details to the grand overview of Sagittarius. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands we take responsibility to review our beliefs while in Sagittarius.

Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
March 28th 2016 is 1 – Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: unity experienced through maintaining the home in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Sagittarius Moon merging with Mars, supported by the Sun, and challenged by Neptune. The day’s emotional energy shifts from experiencing irritable moods and critical communications, to later feeling a sense of inner harmony which is mirrored in the outside world, and finally daydreams and fantasies feeling more important than reality.

The 29th is 2 – Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: duality experienced through enjoying nature, while Mercury trine Saturn in the fire signs of Aries, and Sagittarius. Saturn supporting Mercury which may bring our thoughts to more serious concerns. This brings concentration and attention to details. This is careful energy to be methodical and painstaking. This is good for organizing your environment or your life from a conservative and practical perspective. Counsel from an elder is favored under this influence or you may just want to be alone in your thoughts. Also on the 29th the Moon in Sagittarius finds support from Mercury and Uranus, is challenged by Jupiter and Venus, and merges with Saturn, which moves from feeling in touch with our emotions and expressing them to others, to benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, followed by wanting to be alone in our thoughts and feelings, and later having the impulse to engage in activities that make us feel more alive, and finally pleasant energy for being with the others we want to know better.

March 30th is 3 Men "men" or Eagle: taking action through seeing from a higher perspective, while Mercury squares Pluto which may have folks can be obsessing about some thought or idea, so it's important in conversations to be open to others' view points and not be forceful in getting others to agree with our beliefs. This may be a time where we experience one thought that dominates the day and leaves little room for anything else. This energy can easily provoke arguments over things that won't seem important in a few days. If you use this energy to explore your inner world, it can bring light to something that was hidden in the depths of our psyches. Great energy for studying subjects that deal with covert or hidden aspects, such as psychology, magic, or the occult, as well as meditation or yoga, to unveil other possibilities of human potential. Also on the 30th Venus merges with Chiron in Pisces which brings us deeper awareness of being vulnerable is relationships, which in turn makes us aware of past wounds related to love and money, with the ultimate goal to heal what has been exposed. Also on the 30th the Moon in Sagittarius makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Capricorn, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences.

The 31st is 4 Cib "keeb" or Wisdom: stability through introspection, meditation and forgiveness, while Mercury conjunct Uranus which continues the interaction between planets and their higher octave planet. Here we have Mercury mind and Uranus higher mind, which can be very exciting as our personal awareness is expanded into the larger consciousness of the Universal Mind. It's very fast energy in thinking and communications which could lead to quantum leaps of faith or on the other side people getting overwhelmed by all the new information. People may also be more prone to accidents as they are moving too fast to be cautious. Also on the 31st the last quarter Capricorn Moon harmonizes with Neptune, is challenged by the Sun, finds support from Jupiter, and merges with Pluto, which shifts from being very sensitive to the moods of others, followed by encountering challenges to our daily routines, then people having a pleasant sense of wellbeing, and finally we have more intense moods rising to the surface from deep in our psyches.

April 1st is 5 – Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: empowerment through gratitude for Mother Earth, while the Moon in Capricorn is challenged by Uranus and Mercury, and harmonizes with Venus, which moves from folks acting hasty and jumping to conclusions that may not be correct, to later folks being critical in their communications particularly with the people they have intimate relationships with, and finally having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones.

The 2nd is 6 Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint: being in the flow through being introspective, while the Aquarius Moon is stimulated be Mars and the Sun which changes from having the desire to work independently from others, to later feeling balance between our inner and outer worlds.

April 3rd is 7 Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm: reflection through recognizing the gifts in adversity, while the Moon in Aquarius harmonizes with Saturn, Uranus, and Mercury, which shifts from wanting to be alone in our thoughts and feelings, to later having pleasant yet restless energy that desires emotional excitement, and finally being very social and having lots of conversations.

The 4th is 8 – Ahau "ah-how" or Sun: balance through honoring the wisdom and memory of our ancestors, with the Pisces Moon is challenged by Mars and merges with Neptune which moves from people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes, to later feelings of empathy for those around us, including the possibility of clairvoyance and telepathic experiences for those of us who are sensitive by nature.

April 5th is 9 – Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile: patience experienced through nurturing new beginnings, while Venus enters Aries continuing to bring energy to burst forward on a new path, this time it's about our relationships, bringing new hope or a new lease on life, but also conflicts over individual needs and the needs of the relationship as Venus is in its detriment in the sign opposite Libra, which Venus rules. Also on the 5th Mercury enters Taurus which due to turning retrograde on April 28th lasts almost ten weeks in Taurus until Mercury goes into Gemini June 12th. In Taurus Mercury slows down communication and stabilizes thinking to be more practical and constructive. Also on the 5th the Sun trines Saturn which emphasizes great opportunities related to our environment and examining our lives and the structures we build upon. We may be reviewing habits, home situations, work, and anything else we consider important to find practical solutions. This transit is good for doing work that requires planning, discipline and self control, from which there is the opportunity to derive great satisfaction from doing such work. It's also good for overall organization and making plans to order your affairs and arrange them accordingly, due to this energetic being very thorough and meticulous, from which our efforts will achieve lasting results. You may want to undertake an intellectual discipline or technique that requires attention to detail and concentration during this time period. Also on the 5th the Moon opposes Jupiter, is challenged by Saturn, and harmonizes with Pluto, which changes from having feelings of generosity, followed by people feeling lonely or isolated, and finally having deep emotions finding their way to the surface and felt on a profound level.

The 6th is 10 – Ik "eek" or Wind: manifestation through communication, while the Sun square Pluto, which begins a tense time period when the Sun activates the separating Uranus Pluto square. A square between the Sun and Pluto brings powerful forces that test us from within and without. These tests may lead us to make radical changes in some area of our life that is not working very well. This can be very beneficial for letting go of the old patterns or behaviors that come up for examination at this time. Holding on to what is not working will just make life more difficult. This transit also indicates that persons in authority may demand that we account for our actions or even ourselves. Some people will abuse the power they are wielding under this influence. Also this indicates a breakdown of situations and machinery. No matter what your experience something will make you aware that it needs fixing, and my advice is to fix it whether it's a machine, a relationship, a behavior, or pattern that no longer works. Also on the 6th the Aries Moon merges with Venus and is supported by Mars which shifts from feeling cheerful, warm, gregarious, and wanting to go out and socialize, to later feeling a little more confident than usual with the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner.

April 7th is 11 –  Akbal "awk-bol" or Night: resolution through contemplating the stars, while we have the Aries New Moon at 18 degrees 4 minutes, supported by Saturn, challenged by Pluto, and merging with the Sun and Uranus. The Moon trine Saturn brings a sober realistic view of life, while square Pluto has us having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, and conjunct Uranus could have people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with moods changing quickly and unexpectedly. New Moons bring the opportunity to set an intension for manifestation on the following full moon. Look to the house of your astrology chart that contains 18 degrees Aries to consider what area of your life is being activated by this new moon. For me that would be my eleventh house of hopes and dreams but also friends and groups, so I would set an intension related to using this energy for furthering dreams and friendships. If you were able to use the Pisces New Moon solar eclipse to let go of the past relationships, situations, and beliefs that no longer serve you, this New Moon in Aries is calling you to embrace your true self and move forward in new directions unencumbered.

The 8th is 12 – Kan "con" or Seed or Lizard: understanding through planting seeds and making new connections, while the Taurus Moon merges with Mercury and harmonizes with Neptune which moves from positive energy for integrating our thoughts and moods, to having a greater sensitivity to others' emotions with possible psychic impressions for those who are open.

April 9th is 13 – Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent: movement to the next stage through being flexible, with the Sun conjunct Uranus in the sign of Aries. This day will be full of surprises but also unexpected disruptions. This transit brings the energy that wants freedom from the daily routine to explore your inner self and explore activities that make you feel more alive. This can be a good day to get out of a rut or break a habit. Those folks who are identified with routine and uncomfortable with disruption to their preordained plans will struggle as this transit pushes us to depart from our entrenched expectations that ultimately can lead to a dreary, lifeless existence. Flexibility will greatly enhance your experience of the day, so this might be a day to plan to do something different. On a global and local as well as personal scale, this is the merging of illumination with rebellion in the sign of the individual, so we may see folks strike out against people, governments, and systems of oppression and other unbearable restrictions. The spectrum of this energetic is from liberation on one end, to impulsive and rash behavior on the other, with a greater potential for accidents. A day to avoid dangerous situations and activities, particularly if you are feeling anxious or overly excited. Also on the 9th the Moon in Taurus is supported by Jupiter and Pluto which shifts from people having a pleasant sense of wellbeing, to feeling on a deeper more intense level under the influence of Pluto.

So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Reed trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
