Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for August 21st to September 2nd 2014

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of August 21st 2014 for 1 - Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Sun moving into Virgo, the Virgo New Moon, and Mercury moving into Libra.
August 21st 2014 for 1 - Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit carries the themes of abundance, playfulness, fertility, growth, ripeness, physical pleasure and spiritual inspiration, artistry, creation, joy and humor. One Star is also known as One Rabbit or One Venus. The glyph for Star is the planet Venus which is associated with death and rebirth as Venus disappears as the evening star and then reappears as the morning star. Venus is the Morning Star after the inferior conjunction (I.C.) when it is in front of the Sun and cannot be seen due to its close proximity to the Sun which lasts about 8 days and before the superior conjunction (S.C.) when Venus transits behind the Sun and is not visible for about 50 days. Venus is the Evening Star after the S.C. and before the I.C. Both the Morning star and Evening star phases lasts approximately 260 days and of course 260 days is exactly the length of a Tzolkin round and 1 - Star is the final trecena of the 260 day round, so the next "Care and Feeding" will celebrate a new round with 1 - Imix or Crocodile on September 3rd. I think it's interesting that modern Mayanologists have emphasized the Venus transit across the face of the sun in relation to Mayan cosmology, but the Dresden Codex which details precise knowledge of Venus' full cycle, makes no mention of the transit. This makes me wonder if this is a modern projection onto the Maya, because although the Venus transit which occurs twice every 243 years, during the I.C. is remarkable when viewed from the Earth, it is certainly a lesser energetic force compared to the S.C. when Venus is hidden behind the Sun and traveling in the same direction. After all, we westerners love pyrotechnics, but might have missed the boat regarding the actual energetic as it relates to the spiritual realm.
This thirteen day period would be a time to be grateful for any abundance or harvest in our lives whether it be food or spiritual insight.
Since we begin a new Gregorian month during this trecena, I thought I'd discuss the metaphysics of the upcoming month. September is the ninth month and with the digits for 2014, when added together we get 16, then we add 1 + 6 to tell us that this is a sixteen/seven month in numerology. Basic numerology reduces numbers to one through nine, so when we think about that arc the seven represents a time of digging into events and situations to get a deeper perspective with stronger focus on values, motives, and ethics. Which are also themes of the sign Scorpio, which has several influences with Saturn in the sign all month, Mars in the Scorpio until the 13th, and Mercury entering on the 27th, and the modern ruler of Scorpio; Pluto turning direct on the 22nd. The sixteen/seven combination is represented by the Tower and the Chariot in the Tarot cards, which is about letting go of everything that is contrary to our authentic nature as it is destroyed or jettisoned, through finding our stillness even as we are in motion. This quote from William Law represents the Tower archetype, "I feel within me a consuming fire of heavenly love which has burned up in my soul everything contrary to itself and transformed me inwardly into its own nature." This offering from Emerson is helpful in understanding the Chariot, "Motion or change and identity or rest are the first and second secrets or nature: Motion and Rest. The whole code of her laws may be written on the thumbnail" So September represents that the dramatic shift as July brought us new options, and August brought us further down the path regarding the situations that lead to a new life, we begin a time of evolution that leads to the solar and lunar eclipses in October, and Mercury retrogrades from Scorpio back into Libra, to review the information and actions that occurred while Mars spent 8 months in the sign of the scales. With the completion of this numerological cycle in November.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1 - Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit trecena, on the 21st all the planets appear to be moving forward from our vantage point on Earth except Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto which appear to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Chiron retrograde in Pisces is about releasing stuck emotional energy, so that we can return to the natural flow of life. Uranus in Aries is seeking to shake our very foundation through the unexpected rebellion of the individual. Obviously this is a difficult time of upheaval, destruction, death, unexpected change, natural disasters, violence and war. Retrograde Uranus in Aries will have people wanting to hurry the process of getting free. To push the river of revolution whether it be personal or governmental. I think that this is the time of detaching (Uranus) to act as an unobstructed individual (Aries). Being an outer planet, Uranus creates events that we "respond" to. The inner planets effect us personally as individuals, but the outer planets change the landscape which effects us as a collective and as individuals within humanity. Which reminds me of this Krishnamurti quote "The only hope for humankind is in the transformation of the individual." Uranus creates challenges according to the sign it's in, so we may feel like we keep getting lessons in a theme over and over again. Uranus being the modern ruling planet of Aquarius, means that fairness is one of the topics, and often these events may seem unfairly set against us. Neptune in its own sign of Pisces is seeking transcendence through spiritual experiences. This will be a time to use spiritual practices to keep us grounded as we expand our intuition and consciousness. This will be important energy to nurture as we are in the middle of four years of the challenging Uranus Pluto squares that have been affecting us as a collective and as individuals. Pluto represents death, completion, and in Capricorn, the breakdown of structures, to bring about transformation. Pluto in Capricorn is determined in exposing the darkness, destroying the old order, so that we can rise up like the Phoenix from the ashes to soar again. Capricorn is about large structures which includes banks, governments, corporations, and religions. This is a time of a cosmic course correction for the entire planet.

Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
August 21st 2014 for 1 - Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit: unity experienced through being grateful for abundant relationships in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Mercury trine Pluto which can bring concern about the deeper issues in life. This has people wanting to dig below the surface to uncover mysteries. On a personal level this can be excellent for inner work, so it might be a good day for some "alone time" to discover some of the deeper dimensions of your psyche. Communications may seem rather serious and profound. Thoughts will be more focused and gain insights about important developments. Also on the 21st, the Cancer Moon harmonizes with Mercury, is opposed by Pluto, finds support from Mars and Saturn, and is challenged by Uranus which begins with being very social and having lots of conversations, then brings deep emotions rising to the surface, later brings the energy for asserting ourselves in a positive manner and standing our ground if necessary, then people are likely to act hasty and jump to conclusions, and finally settles into a more sober and realistic view of life. The 22nd is 2 - Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: duality experienced through appreciating creation, with Moon in Cancer makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Leo at 4:40 pm EDT, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences. August 23rd is 3 - Oc "awk" or Dog: taking action through enjoying family and friends, while the Sun moves into Virgo which begins our transition to the next season finishing up Summer in the north and Winter in the south. This is much more modest, practical, reserved energy than the Leo energy of the past month. We are more interested in the mundane details and getting organized. Traditionally Virgo is ruled by Mercury, but I agree with Barbara Hand Clow that Chiron, the wounded healer, is the modern ruler of the sign associated with health. This should bring a shift to more focus on organization, self improvement, criticism, and service. Speaking of the wounded healer, Mars trines Chiron also on the 23rd, which brings courage and action to release the past and allow healing. Also on the 23rd the Leo Moon merges with Jupiter and Venus which shifts from good feelings and generosity towards others, to later the Moon merging with Venus feels cheerful, warm, gregarious, and wanting to go out and socialize. The 24th is 4 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: stability through creating something new, with Mercury opposed by Chiron can bring a greater focus in our thinking regarding issues that require release to promote healing and can take us more deeply into our past wounds to allow more organized insights that seek resolution. We may feel uncomfortable and unsettled as old emotions come to the surface in our conscious minds so they can be healed. Also on the 24th the Moon in Leo finds support from Uranus, and is challenged by Mars and Saturn. The day begins with having the impulse to engage in activities that make us feel more alive, then shifts to people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes, and later people feeling lonely or isolated. August 25th is 5 - Eb "eb" or Road : empowerment through serving your community, while we have the Virgo New Moon opposing Neptune and Chiron, and merging with the Sun. This brings energy to get organized as Summer is finishing up in the Northern Hemisphere and Winter in the south. This energetic is about health, work and service. With this lunation opposing Neptune brings feeling sensitive emotionally but confused regarding the accuracy of what's being felt. In opposition to Chiron, criticism will feel more wounding, so we may want to hold off a day or so if you feel the need to correct someone. New moons are times of new beginnings and in Virgo is about discernment, organization, and discrimination. This may be a time to create a new plan, or organize your closets or computer, or clean up your house.  New Moons bring the opportunity to set an intension for manifestation on the following full moon. Look to the house of your astrology chart that contains 2 degrees Virgo to consider what area of your life is being activated by this new moon. For me that would be my fourth house of the home and inner world, so I would set an intension related to using this energy, such cleaning or doing home repairs or some type of inner work on myself on that day. That would fulfill the Virgo New Moon's desire for organization and refinement through the fourth house's role of inner world and the home. The new moon chart includes Mars conjunct Saturn so this new direction has a strong calling for taking action with responsibility. Some will find that this call must be answered as they have a personal and immediate part to play. For those of you following your Human Design strategy and authority, S and A will help tremendously in making the correct choice. This may be a time to complete something major. Another thing I find interesting about this new moon, is that on the during the Sagittarius Full Moon back on June 13th, we had the Venus-Saturn opposition at the moment of the full moon. Venus, Saturn, and Chiron are all at 17 degrees 44 minutes of their sign with Chiron in sextile to Venus and trine to Saturn. Saturn was retrograde during that full moon, and on this Virgo New Moon, Saturn now direct returns to the degree it held during the Sagittarius Full Moon, where it now conjuncts Mars and with both planets in a sextile Mercury. With Uranus in orb in Aries we have a yod or "finger of fate", when the sextile forms between two or more planets, who are at 150 degree angles to another planet, in the case Uranus, the planet of upheaval, rapid unexpected change, and revolution. This new moon has a volatile quality, but also is likely to bring events that lead to lasting change. June's Sagittarius Full Moon was a time that something needed revision, and the current Virgo New Moon has the energetic to return those energies to their rightful place, through events that might seem unexpected and revolutionary. Similar to the story of Robin Hood, where King Richard the Lion Heart returned in disguise from the crusades and finding his kingdom usurped, this new moon returns the rightful rulers to the throne. Also on the 25th Mercury sextiles Mars and Saturn. Mercury sextile Mars which brings a busy day with folks having more energy than usual for their own projects. This is a day where working for someone else's benefit does not inspire diligence but more likely resentment. If you can use the day to work on what's of interest to you, it will seem like a good use of all this energy. Since others are feeling the same way, plan on working independently of others. There is energy for convincing others of your point of view, but they also have the energy to convince you of their perspective. This might be a day to avoid people and conversations that could lead to arguments, because this has a competitive edge to it. We can be confident in our ideas and beliefs to initiate something that should be successful as long as we don't need others to bring it to fruition. Mercury sextile Saturn is great for constructive criticism that comes from being able to see what can be improved in our surrounding environment. We are very conscious of flaws, including our own, so we can use our critical eye to what should be changed to bring improvement. This can be very serious in its pursuit of betterment, make sure your honoring what is positive, so not to get overwhelmed by the many imperfections that are in view with this transit. Older people may serve as teachers and mentors at this time. This is nice energy for working carefully on any mental task from a place of concentration and precision, whereas activities that require a great scope of vision may be more difficult. This is about the details, rather than the overall pattern. Difficulty seeing the forest for the trees. Also on the 25th Venus trines Uranus which wants social experiences and romantic encounters to be outside the norm, unusual, and surprising. This is a great day to try something out of the ordinary. The daily routine will just not cut it under this influence. Folks are looking to do something stimulating in their social lives and relationships. A day when there may be unique encounters and love relationships that begin under this influence are exciting, electric, unstable and short, but have a strong potential to change our lives. This could also bring unconventional agreements in our relationship such as agreeing to change from an exclusive coupling to experimenting with having other lovers. Experiencing different types of entertainment is also favored by this transit, by enjoying music, art, or theater that is outside your normal choices. Also on the 25th Mars conjuncts Saturn which can be difficult to a day or so as people will be more frustrated and irritable. Not a day to launch a risky or daring endeavourer, because this energetic doesn't favor success. We have limitation (Saturn) to our vigor (Mars). This prefers following a well established routine. Older people may seem more irritating under this influence. Folks may feel anger that they cannot express and find themselves seething in silence. It would be better to channel that anger into to some type of hard work, and realize the perception is temporary. I think that we'll see the folks who have been on the fence during Mars in Libra, make an effort to move towards some goal. Mars and Saturn have a well deserved bad reputation and over the next few days they will square Venus. Venus in Leo and Mars and Saturn in Scorpio could have many results some less than pleasant. Harsh energy (Mars and Saturn) towards children (Leo) and particularly girls (Venus). Venus is also money, so there could be unseen limitation (Saturn) and aggression (Mars) related to money (Venus) that rises to the surface (Scorpio) that creates drama (Leo). The 26th is 6 - Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: being in the flow through maintaining the home, with Venus square Saturn which can be a day of having difficulty relating to others, feeling cool, reserved, isolated... Many will be reevaluating what they are getting out of their relationships as compared to what they are putting in. If you feel loneliness or depression on the 26th, just realize that this too shall pass. Also on the 26th the Virgo Moon finds support from Pluto, harmonizes with Saturn and Mars, and merges with Mercury. The day moves from experiencing deep emotions on a profound level, to wanting to be alone in our thoughts and feelings, then later brings the desire to work independently from others, and finally positive energy for integrating our thoughts and moods. August 27th is 7 - Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: reflection through enjoying nature, while Venus squares Mars which tends to arouse interest in the opposite sex that is physical and perhaps sexual in nature, but this energy can also lead to discord if there are hidden tensions in a relationship. Healthy relationships should not have difficulties during this transit, whose function is to test the pairing. It's basically about on one side engaging in what's pleasurable for you and your partner and on the other side where are the tensions that lead to disputes that comes from unexpressed sexuality. The amount of love energy will determine which way the dice will fall. This creates difficulty for couples trying to keep interactions nice and easy, while not expressing the drives that Mars is known for. Relationships begun under this transit tend to be based only on physical attraction. Also on the 27 the Moon in Virgo makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Libra at 5:54 pm EDT, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences. The 28th is 8 - Men "men" or Eagle: balance through seeing from a higher perspective, with the Libra Moon in harmony with Jupiter and challenged by Pluto which shifts from feeling in the flow and having a sense of wholeness, to later having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run. August 29th is 9 - Cib "keeb" or Wisdom: patience experienced through introspection, meditation and forgiveness, while the Sun opposes Neptune which brings considerable confusion and uncertainty, but it also confers a sensitivity to others and their needs, which can lead to new awareness. This is likely to be a day where people may just agree with others to avoid any type of confrontation. It's best to avoid playing the victim or martyr role, if you feel you can't assert yourself under this influence, its best to delay any disagreements until you've given yourself time to reflect on the issue. This is also a time to be aware that people may be being out right deceptive, making it a poor time to negotiate any contractual agreements. This transit is positive for experiencing more depth in spiritual connections with a partner, with the potential for union of souls.  Also on the 29th the Moon in Libra is opposed by Uranus, and in harmony with Venus which moves from folks being emotionally excitable and impulsive, to later having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones. The 30th is 10 - Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: manifestation through gratitude for Mother Earth, with the Scorpio Moon finding support from Neptune and harmonizing with the Sun, which shifts from fantasies and daydreams distracting us from accomplishing routine tasks, to later feeling balance between our inner and outer worlds. August 31st is 11 - Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint: resolution through being introspective, with the Moon in Scorpio challenged by Jupiter, harmonizing with Pluto, and merging with Saturn and Mars. The days emotional energy moves from benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, to experiencing deep emotions on a profound level, then later wanting to be alone in our thoughts and feelings, and finally experiencing irritable moods and critical communications. September 1st is 12 - Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm: understanding through recognizing the gifts in adversity, with the Scorpio Moon challenged by Venus and harmonizing with Mercury. The day begins with pleasant energy for being with the others we want to know better, and later lots of chatting with friends, neighbors, or coworkers. September 2nd is 13 - Ahau "ah-how" or Sun: movement to the next stage through honoring the wisdom and memory of our ancestors, while Mercury moves into Libra which will be a very short stay as it moves into Scorpio at the end the month. In Libra Mercury is about rational balanced thinking and communication. People will be more inclined to make decisions by listening to the pros and cons. Sometimes this weighting of options turns into indecision. Mercury is social in Libra and does not wish to stir up controversy, so I'd expect to have more friendly and possibly sympathetic conversations with others over the next 25 days. Also on the 2nd the first quarter Moon is Sagittarius is challenged by Neptune and the Sun, and finds support from Jupiter and Uranus. The days emotional energy begins with bringing our dreams into the day's vibration, then we encounter challenges to our daily routines, later people having a pleasant sense of wellbeing, and finally brings a desire for emotional excitement to engage in activities outside our daily routine.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Star trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
