Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin November 8th to November 20th 2013

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of November 8th 2013 for 1 - Ik "eek" or Wind in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, also Mercury and Neptune turning direct, and the Taurus Full Moon.
November 8th 2013 is 1 - Ik "eek" or Wind which carries the themes of air, breath, life force, prana, chi, that which animates life, inspiration, imagination, the spark of creativity and spirit, communication, and the dissemination of seeds and ideas. The day glyph for wind is a T shaped cross that represents the Mayan god of wind but is also symbolic of trees which restore the life energy to the air. I love the connection between Wind being about communication and the planet of Communication being at the peak of its power during this trecena. This thirteen day period would be a good time to communicate your inspiration and connect with the life force that makes you unique.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1 - Ik "eek" or Wind trecena, on November 8th 2013 all the planets appear to move forward from our vantage point on Earth except Mercury, Jupiter, Chiron, Uranus, and Neptune which appear to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Mercury is retrograde until November 10th so the beginning of the trecena would be a good time to avoid signing contracts or other legal papers, making any major purchases, or even taking a new job. If you can postpone these types of activities the terms will be much clearer after Mercury is moving direct. Mercury retrogrades force us to slow down and pay more attention to our lives by making us focus on the details of our daily experience. When looking at a retrograde cycle of any of the personal or inner planets, it provides information about a correction to our present course. During the first few days of Ik, while Mercury retrogrades, is a time to watch the events that occur related to the information received in October. Then on the 10th when the planet is moving forward again until the 27th when Mercury crosses the line where it originally turned retrograde , we move forward with a revision to our previous course.
I've discussed in depth the implications of the other planets moving retrograde in the past reports, so I'll just keynote each one. Jupiter was the king of the gods, and the planet is about good fortune, opportunities, faith, religion, beliefs and expansion. Cancer is about family, home, nurturing, and protection. Mostly what I find with Jupiter retrograde, as with any retrograde cycle there is a review of the past, and with Jupiter what gets reviewed are missed opportunities. In Cancer these are likely to be related to home and family. Retrograde Chiron has us reviewing our wounds so that they can be released, by having the courage to open our hearts to any fear or pain associated with our past. Retrograde Uranus in Aries is seeking to shake our very foundation to shock us to awaken and forces us to embrace our new way of living through reversals and unexpected events. Retrograde Neptune in Pisces is seeking transcendence through spiritual practices to keep us grounded as we expand our intuition and consciousness, while we are in the middle of four years of the unexpected rebellion of the individual (Uranus in Aries) challenging the decaying power structure (Pluto in Capricorn).
The big change for the 1 - Ik "eek" or Wind trecena begins with Neptune appearing to be stopped at the opening of this thirteen day period prior to appearing to move direct or in forward motion from the perspective of the Earth on November 13th. Neptune is at a standstill as it prepares to turn direct, which brings spirituality and creativity, but also delusions while the lord of the sea is at the peak of his power. Neptune at the peak of its power in its own sign of Pisces during November is seeking transcendence through spiritual experiences. This will be a time to use spiritual practices to keep us grounded as we expand our intuition and consciousness. This will be important energy to nurture as we are in the middle of four years of the challenging Uranus Pluto squares that have been affecting us as a collective and as individuals. These squares between Uranus and Pluto will continue to shake our very foundation through the unexpected rebellion of the individual (Uranus in Aries) challenging the decaying power structure (Pluto in Capricorn). Obviously this will be a difficult time of upheaval, destruction, death, unexpected change, natural disasters, violence and war, so finding our own peace in our connection to spirit will be an important quality to cultivate now for the tumultuous road ahead. Neptune pushes us to transcend the physical world to connect with our higher purpose and spiritual transformation, but also encourages escapism as some will seek unconsciousness while others to awaken.
Chiron is also at a standstill as it prepares to turn direct on the 19th. Chiron turned retrograde on June 16th. Chiron retrograde in Pisces is about releasing stuck emotional energy so that we can return to the natural flow of life. Chiron is the wounded healer in Greek mythology. He was a teacher, healer, and astrologer to the Gods. He was abandoned at birth because his mother objected to her son being half man and half horse, which was his first wound. When he was teaching Hercules to use Hydra's blood as poison, Hercules mistakenly hit Chiron in the leg with a poisoned arrow, but because Chiron was immortal he didn't die. He suffered the pain of his wounds every day of his life. Chiron eventually traded his life to have Prometheus released from his imprisonment for stealing fire and giving it to the human race. Retrograde Chiron has us reviewing our wounds so that they can be released, by having the courage to open our hearts and confront any fear or pain associated with our past. While Chiron is in Pisces people are willing to sacrifice their individual pain in hopes of finding bliss in Universal consciousness. At its worst this can manifest as folks justifying their victimhood as some form a martyrdom. This should be transcendence and surrender with losing ourselves in the experience. The last time Chiron was in Pisces was from 1961 to 1968,  which was also the time that Uranus and Pluto were merged in Virgo, planting the seeds for the squares between Pluto and Uranus that we are currently experiencing. At that time there was a growing drug culture, as people were looking for a shortcut to transcendence. The retrograde aspect brings a longing for lost loves and the memories of our losses, encouraging us to return to look at our core wounds and bring them to the surface so they can be healed. Another trap of Chiron in Pisces is codependent relationships where we focus on healing others rather than ourselves. Chiron will turn direct in November, so this time of exploring the depths of our psyche will be with us for months to come.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena. November 8th 2013 is 1 - Ik "eek" or Wind: unity experienced through communication, as Mercury sextile Venus is very interesting to me, because I usually think of alignments happening in odd numbers. 1,3,5, and rarely 7, but this alignment happens twice, with the second occurrence on the 27th. Basically Mercury in Scorpio is in higher degrees than Venus in Capricorn, even during most of its retrograde period of time. Then a few days before it turns direct it makes a 60 degree angle with Venus, and once direct races to catch her again at the end of the month. Mercury in harmony with Venus brings a light hearted energy to the day. This is nice for using our minds for leisure, like reading for pleasure, going to an art show or concert, playing a game you enjoy, or just talking with friends. This is a day where we get a break from the heavier concerns of life. This is also excellent for communicating our feelings to the people we love. So tell someone you love them today. Express your appreciation and gratitude and I suspect it will come back to you in kind. Also an excellent day to appreciate beauty, so you may want to put yourself in a beautiful environment whether it's a home, museum, or a day in the country, with the Moon opposed by Jupiter and challenged by Mercury, the day's emotional energy moves from feelings of generosity, to later folks being critical in their communications particularly with the people they have intimate relationships with and our moods influencing our ability to think rationally. The 9th is 2 - Akbal "awk-bol" or Night: duality experienced through contemplating the stars, while Mars sextile Saturn is great for projects that require diligence and planning. Saturn gives focus to Mars' high energy, so this is not flamboyant like some other Martian alignments. This is a great energetic for a sustained effort particularly on tasks that require attention to detail. This is a day of putting effort towards a goal that will be fulfilled in the future. It's practical and does not mind deferring the results to another day. This gives people discipline and self restraint, as long as the gratification of the day's labor is not delayed indefinitely. Also on the 9th and again on the 11th Mercury trines Neptune, which is interesting in the context of Mercury retrograde, because the point where Mercury is at a 120 degree angle to Neptune is very close to the point where Mercury turns direct November 10th, so Mercury will exactly trine Neptune on November 9th and 11th. With both of these planets stopped as they prepare to move forward, this will be a very powerful alignment that is in effect from the 7th to the 13th. Mercury supported by Neptune stimulates creative imagination and brings a deeper sensitivity to the world around us. This energetic leads to daydreaming and would be well spent listening to music or reading or writing poetry or romantic literature. Conversations will also not revolve around the practical, but will be more suited to discussions of other worldly spiritual topics and our fantasies, hopes and dreams. Not great energy for accomplishing work, but wonderful for empathy and selfless compassion with the offer to help others without interest to gain ourselves. This is also very good energy for studying art, religion, music, poetry, spiritual, and occult subjects, as we are able to transcend the limitations of our normal rational thinking, while the Aquarius Moon is stimulated by Uranus, and challenged by Saturn which moves from pleasant yet restless feelings craving emotional excitement to do something outside the daily routine, to later people feeling lonely or isolated. November 10th is 3 - Kan "con" or Seed or Lizard: taking action through planting seeds and making new connections, with Mercury turning direct on the 10th at 2 degrees Scorpio heralding a time to implement the revision to our previous course that we have become aware of from the information and experiences we had during the retrograde cycle. It will take a few days to gain momentum, but over the next few days we'll feel the invisible attraction to begin our new journey. We also have the First Quarter Moon in Aquarius challenged by the Sun at 1 am EST, which brings challenges to following a daily routine, and makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Pisces at 9:30 pm EST, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences. The 11th is 4 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent: stability through being flexible, with the third of three Mercury trine Neptune. The second occurred two days earlier and continues to be in effect from the 7th to the 13th. This is also very good energy for studying art, religion, music, poetry, spiritual, and occult subjects, as we are able to transcend the limitations of our normal rational thinking. The 11th the Pisces Moon finding support from Mercury and Saturn, merging with Neptune, and harmonizing with Venus and Pluto. The day's emotional energy moves from being more in touch with our feelings and able to share them with others while also feelings of empathy for those around us, including the possibility of clairvoyance and telepathic experiences for those of us who are sensitive by nature, then having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones, later experiencing deep emotions on a profound level, and finally having a sober realistic view of life. November 12th is 5 - Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation: empowerment through releasing what no longer serves us, while the Sun is trine Jupiter which is one of the most positive transits bringing enthusiasm and optimism, it can have the effect of people feeling lazy, but I would encourage folks to use this energy to accomplish something good for yourself. This is a day to project positive energy into the environment that can have some influence on your affairs and accomplishing something you desire. Some will see this as "dumb luck", but this transit has its roots in something that was done in the recent past. This is great energy for making changes in your life without feeling a sense of loss. This is also good for studying something of interest to you, particularly subjects that help us to see the world as a whole, as the Moon in Pisces is opposed by Mars, and finds support from the Sun and Jupiter. The day begins with people being more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives, then shifts to feeling a sense of inner harmony which is mirrored in the outside world, and people having a pleasant sense of wellbeing. The 13th is 6 - Manik "man-eek" or Deer: being in the flow through being of service to others, when Neptune turns direct which will not be noticeable for the most part because of the nature of Neptune particularly in its own sign of Pisces. Usually I look at retrograde planets as operating on us internally and direct planets affecting our environment which we then respond to. I don't see this as strongly with Neptune, although in direct motion we may hear more about Neptune subjects, such as marijuana legalization, spiritual and occult subjects, and the disillusionment of the citizens under corrupt systems of government, while the Aries Moon is challenged by Venus and Pluto and merges with Uranus. The day's emotional energetic has pleasant energy for being with the others we want to know better, with people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with moods changing quickly and unexpectedly, and having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run. November 14th is 7 - Lamat "la-maught" or Star: reflection through being grateful for abundant relationships, with Venus square Uranus activating the Uranus Pluto square for a few days before and after the 14th, and has folks seeking excitement in their love relationships, this can include picking a fight to experience a different aspect of interacting. The middle of November is intense as we have the planet of love, but also money in Capricorn being challenged by the "Winds of Change". Because Uranus is involved this is unpredictable but also can be drastic with Pluto in concert. Themes of this energetic might be an unexpected stock market drop, a change in spending due to scarcity, or a currency change in oil markets where the dollar had been the preferred measurement of value. On a personal level folks are looking for something exciting, out of the ordinary, and so if your relationship has become dull or predictable this is the time to inject it with a new experience, rather than have it erupt into a fight about "how we never do anything interesting..." Basically the less flexibility in a relationship during this transit, the more damaging this alignment is likely to be. Venus sextile Chiron brings an opportunity to heal through our social interactions and romantic relationships. Also on the 14th we have the Moon in Libra square Jupiter which brings benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment. The 15th is 8 - Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: balance through appreciating creation, and Venus conjunct Pluto, which is active for a few days before and after the 15th. When we merge the energy of romantic love with the energy of death and rebirth, we get contacted by ex-lovers or we contact them. Typically if the relationship had problems before, thus becoming ex-lovers, re-connecting to a past romantic interest does not yield a sustainable relationship. So I encourage folks to fight the urge to merge with the ex. Regardless this does intensify love experiences. Some feel insecure in their relationship which can lead to feeling possessive or jealous. Venus transits are relatively quick so be careful not to do or say something that cannot be corrected. We no longer have Jupiter in orb of the Uranus Pluto square, so we have lost that level of protection, while the Taurus Moon is in harmony with Neptune and opposed by Mercury which moves from being very sensitive to the moods of others to some folks feeling a real conflict between feelings and reason and others having fruitful expressions of their deeper awareness either internally or with another. November 16th is 9 - Oc "awk" or Dog: patience experienced through enjoying family and friends, with the Moon in Taurus finding support from Pluto, Venus, and Mars, and is opposed by Saturn which starts the day with feeling on a deeper more intense level under the influence of Pluto, with enjoying pleasant feelings and social interactions, to later feeling lonely and isolated, and finally feeling a little more confident than usual with the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner. The 17th is 10 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: manifestation through creating something new, while we experience the Taurus Full Moon opposing the Sun in Scorpio and in harmony with Jupiter. Full moons are a time of tension and this one's about balancing the Scorpio Sun's desire for spiritual and emotional transformation, with the needs-grounded material world, represented by the Moon in Taurus. With this lunation sextile Jupiter, the day brings good feelings and congenial social interactions. Events pull us into the material world and require that we make important decisions. Moon in Taurus then makes no angles and is void of course at 10 am EST until moving into Gemini at 7 pm EST, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences. November 18th is 11 - Eb "eb" or Road: resolution through serving your community, with the Gemini Moon challenged by Neptune and stimulated by Uranus, which begins the day by bringing our dreams into the day's vibration, and later shifts to pleasant yet restless feelings craving emotional excitement to do something outside the daily routine. The 19th is 12 - Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: understanding through maintaining the home, while Mars sextile Jupiter is a positive transit. Jupiter brings opportunities for activities and favors beginning new enterprises, Jupiter may bring confidence in relation to Mars. With this much Martian energy exercise may be helpful to release the surge of drive in a positive activity. This is positive for negotiations, with objectives and goals clearer than usual, which enables intelligent dealings. This is a time of personal growth by expanding the range of our experiences and activities. Chiron turns direct which takes the internal healing work that we've been engaged in since June, and presents us with experiences in our environment where we can see the results of our inner transformation, with the Moon in Gemini challenged by Mars which has people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes, and then the Moon turns void of course at 11 am EST the rest of the day which is best to avoid making major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences. November 20th is 13 - Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: movement to the next stage through enjoying nature, as Mercury sextiles Pluto with Mercury turning direct after its retrograde cycle, this is the third of three Mercury sextile Pluto alignments. This energetic loves the mysterious and wants to know what cannot be known. Our minds are active in penetrating below the surface in a search for core knowledge and real knowledge in our search for truth. This is great energy for studying psychology, astrology, occult subjects, and healing techniques that are aimed at regeneration. Folks may be certain of their "truths" and engage in trying to convince others who are also certain of their personal truth, so this pairing might be better to focus on our own investigation and save persuading others for another day. Also on the 20th Mercury is trine Chiron which will have folks being conscious of and talking about their wounds so they can continue the healing process, as the Cancer Moon finds support from Neptune with our innermost subconscious fantasies and daydreams confusing reality, which may not be great for accomplishing much work.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Wind trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.

  1. Astrology is characterized as, "the divination of the alleged impacts of the stars and planets on human undertakings and earthly occasions by their positions and perspectives." There's a well-known axiom that things are "written in the stars," and for adherents of astrology,
