Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for February 20th to March 4th 2014

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of February 20th 2014 for 1 - Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Mercury turning direct, the Pisces New Moon, and Mars and Saturn turning retrograde.
February 20th 2014 for 1 - Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation carries the themes of death and rebirth, forgiveness, surrender, guidance of women through pregnancy, new beginnings through the release of what no longer serves us, psychic abilities and self actualization. The transformation day sign speaks of a choice to follow our heart's intuition and the wisdom of our ancestors, nature and Mother Earth or the path of ego and the dialogue of our chattering mind. I believe we all chose to incarnate during this time of intense transformation, so it is important that we flow with the cosmic changes. That's the reason for sharing these reports, so that you'll have the information to prepare for difficult time periods but also to savor the times when the energy is allowing an ease in the opening/expansion of consciousness. A reading will dial that in for you on a much deeper personal level, but these reports have good overall information for navigating these uncertain times. There may be growing pains associated with transformation but I believe it is resistance to these evolutionary shifts that creates suffering.
March is the third month and with the digits for 2014, when added together we get 10, then we add 1 + 0 to tell us that this is a one month in numerology, which tells us we are at a point of new beginnings. February was a nine month and March is a one month this year, this is the time of a critical shift with new directions, goals, and purpose. The 10 and the 1 are represented by the Wheel of Fortune and Magician Archetypes in the Tarot cards. The Wheel of Fortune is about prosperity and abundance that comes from being objective, flexible and creative. To quote Ruth Ross "All prosperity begins in the mind and is dependent only upon the full use of our creative imaginations." The 1 card is the Magician which represents the principal of communication, represented by the god Mercury. With his planetary representative turning direct during this trecena.  Words were originally magic. Another quote to illustrate this comes from Starhawk, "Language shapes consciousness, and the use of language to shape consciousness is an important branch of magic." So March represents the beginning of a new cycle which comes into being through our communications leading us towards prosperity by being flexible, objective, and creative. Another thing I find interesting about this year is we had two new moons in January, none in February, and another two new moons in March. This sets powerful new energies in motion that required the numerological nine month of February to release the old and worn out, whether it's aspects of self, life situations, attitudes that no longer work, or concepts, beliefs or perceptions that have out grown their usefulness, so in March we can move forward unencumbered.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1- Transformation, on the 20th all the planets appear to move forward from our vantage point on Earth except Mercury and Jupiter, which appear to move retrograde or in reverse motion.  Jupiter was the king of the gods, and the planet is about good fortune, opportunities, faith, religion, beliefs and expansion. Cancer is about family, home, nurturing, and protection. Mostly what I find with Jupiter retrograde, as with any retrograde cycle there is a review of the past, and with Jupiter what gets reviewed are missed opportunities. In Cancer these are likely to be related to home and family. Jupiter turns direct on March 6th, taking time to build momentum to move forward in expanding the themes of Cancer such as security, home and family, which have been reviewed and revised during Jupiter's retrograde since early November. Mercury turned retrograde February 6th and turns direct on the 28th, so the beginning of this trecena would be a good time to avoid signing contracts or other legal papers, making any major purchases, or even taking a new job. If you can postpone these types of activities the terms will be much clearer after Mercury is moving direct. Mercury retrogrades force us to slow down and pay more attention to our lives by making us focus on the details of our daily experience.
The big change for the Cimi trecena is that Mars turns retrograde on March 1st, followed by Saturn on March 2nd. Mars appears to move in reverse on the 1st. Of course planets don't really move backward. It's more like when you are in a car, passing a slower car, that car appears to move backwards relative to distant landmarks on the horizon. So during this trecena, Mars appears to slow down, stop and begin to move in reverse, which is called retrograde by astrologers. When a planet appears stopped, it is said to be at the peak of its power. During this report period Mars, representing drive and aggression, is in Libra. Mars is in its detriment in Libra because it is opposite Aries, the sign of Martian rulership, and is traditionally considered to have difficulty operating positively in Libra. Because of its retrograde cycle Mars will spend 8 months in the sign of the scales. Typically Mars spends two months in a sign so this placement for most of the year is uncomfortable and monotonous. Mars agitates and in Libra it's about relationships and can lead to social anger. This may cause us to see an increase in passive aggression, which I personally despise. Mars has been in Libra for several months and I've already seen folks competing for love. They are willing to fight for a partner. People are becoming aggressive in their quest for romantic love. As much as Mars is unhappy in Libra, it's also very unhappy retrograde. This is a really difficult time to access our drive and aggressive energy. Mars began the 1st stage of offering us a course correction on 12/26/13 when it first crossed the point in the zodiac where it will eventually begin moving forward again at 9 Libra, from then to 3/1/14 we are gathering information and energy related to an upcoming change of course. On the 1st Mars begins the 2nd stage which lasts until 5/19/14, where the retrograde movement has us going back over the details from the 1st stage, as we have experiences that give us an indication of what needs to change in our lives. As an aside, sexual relationships that begin during a Mars retrograde cycle may be less than satisfying. Mars turns direct on 5/19 and begins the 3rd stage which lasts until 7/21 which is the time to implement the course correction that we will become aware of through this process. To understand how you will personally be impacted, look at the area governed by the house of your astrological chart that contains the arc between 9 and 27 degrees Libra. Mythological Mars, is the Roman counterpart to Aries, the Greek god of war, bloodshed, and violence. Homer portrayed him as moody and unreliable, and representing the chaos of war, where as Athena was the goddess of military strategy and skill. Mars seems to be more of a berserker than a soldier. Retrograde Mars in Libra has us reviewing our partnerships, new relationships and friendships, particularly to get them moving in the correct direction.

Then on the 2nd Saturn turns retrograde. Saturn appears to be slowing down at the opening of this thirteen day period prior to appearing to move retrograde or in reverse motion from the perspective of the Earth on March 2nd at 23 degrees of Scorpio. So during the beginning of the 1 - Transformation trecena, Saturn is stopping and at the peak of its power. Themes of Saturn in Scorpio are loss, depression, failure, fear, the shadow, betrayal, the stuff that goes deep. Superficial just won't cut it with Saturn in Scorpio. This is very different than Saturn in Libra. In Libra, Saturn had people trying to determine whether they can make a deeper commitment in their relationships or cut their losses before Saturn in Scorpio turns an annoyance into excruciating pain. Now people who did not make a commitment one way or the other in their relationships, are finding they are being forced to face the music and address the unpleasant issues they have been avoiding. These can be very difficult and often painful decisions. For me following my strategy and authority from my Human Design chart has been an amazing tool in making any decision during this time of uncertainty, where the consequences of choice will effect years to come. Saturn takes 29 years to make a complete orbit so we're talking several decades to fix some of these decisions. But that will be plenty of time to really understand the repercussions of choice for good or ill.
Saturn entered into its retrograde shadow period on November 26, 2013 when it reached the point it will eventually turn direct at 16 degrees Scorpio, which brought us a period of time where we received information regarding our commitments that comes up for review under Saturn's retrograde period from March 2nd to July 20th in 2014. This ultimately will yield a change in course regarding these themes during the period from July 20th to October 25th. This retrograde will also intensify the connection between Saturn and Pluto, with Saturn in Pluto's sign of Scorpio and Pluto in Saturn's sign of Capricorn, we have mutual reception between the two planets. Mutual reception means that Pluto and Saturn are strengthening and supporting each other while Saturn remains in Scorpio. That's the next three years. When I think of Saturn and Pluto teaming up the words "karmic judgment" come to mind. To understand how you will be personally impacted, look at the area governed by the house of your astrological chart that contains the arc between 16 and 23 degrees of Scorpio. For me that is my sixth house of health and service, so Saturn wants me to seriously work on how I can better serve people and make choices to increase health. Saturn is the Roman counterpart to the Greek god Cronus. Something interesting about Saturn, he underwent a metamorphosis in his meaning in the pantheon of gods. Originally he was the god of generation, dissolution, plenty, wealth, agriculture, renewal and liberation, which are themes currently more associated in astrology with Jupiter, who is Saturn's son. Saturn's reign was depicted as a golden age of peace and plenty, and was associated with Roman festivals of feasting, free speech, gift giving and revelry, while with his consort Rhea. But when he was associated with the goddess who received bloodied weapons of enemies destroyed in war, Lua, we see the more familiar saturnian qualities of limitation and restriction. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands we take responsibility to review the scorpionic themes such as motives, ethics, and intensions. If we have not been clear on these subjects we are likely to feel our burden is heavier than the load we had previously chosen.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena. February 20th 2014 for 1 - Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation: unity experienced through releasing what no longer serves us, as the Scorpio Moon finds support from the Sun, Neptune, and Jupiter, and is in harmony with Pluto. The day's emotional influence moves from feeling a sense of inner harmony which is mirrored in the outside world, to fantasies and daydreams distracting us from accomplishing routine tasks, then later feelings of inner and outer equanimity, and finally experiencing deep emotions on a profound level. The 21st is 2 - Manik "man-eek" or Deer: duality experienced through being of service to others, as the Moon in Scorpio is challenged by Mercury, in harmony with Venus, and merges with Saturn, which moves from our moods influencing our ability to think rationally, to wanting to be with friends and the people we love, and finally wanting to be alone in our thoughts and feelings. February 22nd is 3 - Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit: taking action through being grateful for abundant relationships, while the Sagittarius last quarter Moon is challenged by the Sun and Neptune, and finds support from Uranus. The day goes from encountering challenges to our daily routines, to daydreams and fantasies feeling more important than reality, and finally having the impulse to engage in activities that make us feel more alive. The 23rd is 4 - Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: stability through appreciating creation, with the Sun conjunct Neptune which with Neptune in the early degrees of Pisces, it feels like he is there to welcome the other planets to his watery realm in the sign ruled by the lord of the seas. Expanded consciousness, awareness of unseen energies, intuition, and greater sensitivity are themes for the next month, with the Sun transiting the sign of mysticism. When the Sun merges with Neptune, there are two distinct sides of this transit, but being Neptune, it will be difficult to grasp which one we are experiencing. The first is that our awareness gets stimulated, which often brings difficulty thinking rationally. It brings a heightened sensitivity and people will feel like they know each other more intuitively. Which increases our compassion. It's as if our separateness dissolves and we become them somehow. Which reminds me of the Mayan saying "In Lak’ech" which means "I am another you". Overall this energy is great for helping people. It also favors an interest in the occult or spiritual activities in hopes of understanding the deeper truths hidden behind the veil of the mundane world. The down side of this transit is all that sensitivity may lead folks to feel psychologically exhausted, wanting to avoid interactions in our daily world and instead engage our private inner world, with the possibility of daydreaming on one end of the spectrum to avoiding reality through alcohol and/or drug usage. Our bodies are more sensitive during this transit so the effects of substances may be more difficult to control. Meditation and quiet contemplation would be better channels for this energetic. Also on the 23rd the Moon in Sagittarius harmonizes with Mercury which brings lots of chatting with friends, neighbors, coworkers... and so on. February 24th is 5 - Oc "awk" or Dog: empowerment through enjoying family and friends, with Venus sextile Saturn pleasantly encourages us to look at our responsibilities in our relationships in a positive way, as there is a sense of gratification in being of service to our loved ones. What's good for the group is more important today and people work to further those ideals even if it means some level of self denial. This is a good time to talk with a loved one about your expectations from each other. This is practical energy which favors business affairs and commerce, particularly with art or other things of beauty. This is also good for creativity that demands close attention to details. Also on the 24th the Moon harmonizes with Mars, Neptune, and the Sun, which influences our emotions from having the desire to work independently from others, to being very sensitive to the moods of others, and then feeling balance between our inner and outer worlds. The 25th is 6 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: being in the flow through creating something new, as the Capricorn Moon is challenged by Uranus, opposes Jupiter, merges with Pluto, and harmonizes with Saturn, which moves from people likely to act hastily and jump to conclusions, while having feelings of generosity, then later we have more intense moods rising to the surface from deep in our psyches, and finally realistic expectations through being calm and reflective. February 26th is 7 - Eb "eb" or Road: reflection through serving your community, with Jupiter square Uranus which continues the ramping up of the infamous Uranus Pluto square into the cardinal Grand Cross in April. Which has a wide swath of possibilities from an unexpected "out of nowhere" lucky change of fortune to a major disruption in life that brings sudden restlessness and the impatience that leads to effort to become free. Whatever the scenario we find in our path, change is the only option. Freedom is the overall theme to this transit, so we should consider the direction we want to take, rather than just make a change to relieve some form of pressure. If we avoid acting impulsively, we are likely to experience some opportunity that leads to freedom from something that has caused us to feel restricted. This alignment will have some folks feeling impatient and frustrated as both planets seek freedom, but from different perspectives. Also on the 26th Pluto sextiles Chiron which brings deep hidden and sometimes forgotten wounds to the surface to be recognized and healed, while the Moon in Capricorn merges with Venus and is challenged by Mars which moves from feeling cheerful, warm, gregarious, and wanting to go out and socialize to later people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes. February 27th is 8 - Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: balance through maintaining the home, with the Aquarius Moon harmonizing with Uranus, merging with Mercury, and challenged by Saturn, this influences us emotionally from pleasant yet restless feelings craving excitement to do something outside the daily routine, to later having positive energy for integrating our thoughts and moods, and finally people feeling lonely or isolated. February 28th is 9 - Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: patience experienced through enjoying nature, with the Sun trine Jupiter which is one of the most positive transits bringing enthusiasm and optimism, it can have the effect of people feeling lazy, but I would encourage folks to use this energy to accomplish something good for yourself. This is a day to project positive energy into the environment that can have some influence on your affairs and accomplishing something you desire. Some will see this as "dumb luck", but this transit has its roots in something that was done in the recent past. This is great energy for making changes in your life without feeling a sense of loss. This is also good for studying something of interest to you, particularly subjects that help us to see the world as a whole. Mercury turns direct on the 28th at 18 degrees Aquarius heralding a time to implement the revision to our previous course that we have become aware of from the information and experiences we had during the retrograde cycle. It will take a few days to gain momentum, but over the next few days we'll feel the invisible attraction to begin our new journey. Also on the 28th the Moon finds support from Mars and merges with Neptune which goes from having the energy for asserting ourselves in a positive manner and standing our ground if necessary, to later feelings of empathy for those around us, including the possibility of clairvoyance and telepathic experiences for those of us who are sensitive by nature. March 1st is 10 - Men "men" or Eagle: manifestation through seeing from a higher perspective, while we have the Pisces New Moon at 10 degrees, supported by Jupiter and Saturn, merging with the Sun, and in harmony with Pluto, this new moon represents new beginnings related to illuminating the intuitive unseen realms inspiring spiritual and psychic experiences, but also brings the fog of illusion. Jupiter in a favorable relationship to this lunation and finds people having a pleasant sense of wellbeing. Harmonizing with Pluto has folks having deep emotions finding their way to the surface and felt on a profound level. And supported by Saturn brings people to settle into a more sober and realistic view of life. New Moons bring the opportunity to set an intension for manifestation on the following full moon. Look to the house of your astrology chart that contains 10 degrees 39 minutes of Pisces to consider what area of your life is being activated by this new moon. For me that would be my tenth house of career and public standing, so I would set an intension related to using this energy, such as finding new ways to share my love of mystical subjects and spiritual growth with the outer world to create new career opportunities. Pluto brings in transformational elements into the new moon, so there is a transformative purpose aligned with the new opportunities that are opening up. This New Moon is particularly potent for making big changes through taking a leap of faith leading us deeper into 2014 as we begin a numerological 1 month. Certainly releasing outdated limitations, to reveal a greater awareness of our authentic true self, our new direction, and purpose.  Also on the 1st Mars turns retrograde highlighting our assertive and aggressive energy and beginning a time when more effort is required to achieve the same results. March 2nd is 11 - Cib "keeb" or Wisdom: resolution through introspection, meditation and forgiveness, Saturn turns retrograde or appears to as if it is moving backwards from our perspective on Earth, which begins reviewing past plans to look for practical solutions. This is no small task given the Sun, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces and Mercury are returning to Pisces on the 17th, whose influence wants to flow, fortunately Saturn is in the water sign of Scorpio so it can support the energy of the fishes as it looks at our motives and ethics, as Saturn is looking for us to take responsibility for our values. Also on the 2nd Venus squares Mars which tends to arouse interest in the opposite sex that is physical and perhaps sexual in nature, but this energy can also lead to discord if there are hidden tensions in a relationship. Healthy relationships should not have difficulties during this transit, whose function is to test the pairing. It's basically about on one side engaging in what's pleasurable for you and your partner and on the other side where are the tensions that lead to disputes that comes from unexpressed sexuality. The amount of love energy will determine which way the dice will fall. This creates difficulty for couples trying to keep interactions nice and easy, while not expressing the drives that Mars is known for. Relationships begun under this transit tend to be based only on physical attraction. Also on the 2nd we have the Moon in Pisces in harmony with Venus which is about having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones. The 3rd is 12 - Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: understanding through gratitude for Mother Earth, while the Sun sextiles Pluto which empowers us make changes in our immediate environment and reform the aspects of our lives that have brought us unhappiness over time. Embrace the opportunities on the 3rd that can be used for the improvement of the general good. This is good energy for cleaning up a situation that has become confused or disordered, such as getting clear on a difficult personal situation or even cleaning house. This also brings us deeper in our thoughts with a feeling that superficial aspects are no longer adequate. Investigations should be thorough, leaving no stone unturned. Subjects such as psychology, occult, yoga, and other transformative techniques are favored for study under this influence. Also on the 3rd the Aries Moon is challenged by Jupiter and Pluto, merges with Uranus, and in harmony with Mercury, which moves us from benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, with people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with moods changing quickly and unexpectedly, then later having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, and finally being very social and talkative. March 4th is 13 - Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint: movement to the next stage through being introspective, while the Sun conjuncts Chiron, which illuminates our past wounds so we can engage in conscious healing. While the Moon is opposed by Mars, challenged by Venus, and in harmony with Neptune, which influences people to be more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives, to later pleasant energy for being with the others we want to know better, and finally greater sensitivity to others' emotions with possible psychic impressions for those who are open.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Transformation trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.

I'll be discussing the astrology of March 2014, and providing short Human Design readings to the participants on the "Earth needs Rebels" show on Orion Talk Radio on March 3rd. We are currently thinking of streamlining these videos by covering planetary astrology and the Tzolkin, but dropping the daily lunar activity with the exception of New and Full Moons. Let us know what you think. As always I invite you to contact me at newworldbirth@yahoo.com if you have any questions or wish to schedule a reading. I am providing readings and wish to make this service available to the greatest amount of folks, so I’ve created three options with three levels of compensation. These readings are designed to provide information to help you navigate these difficult times. At the basic level we will look at your human design chart to help you understand how to use your individual strategy and authority in making life decisions based on your unique design. I include the next three months of astrological transits as they relate to your natal and progressed astrology charts, along with the human design reading at the middle level. At the top level the human design and astrological transit reading will be recorded and sent to you as an MP3 file to be downloaded to your computer. So if you've been thinking about getting a reading, please contact me, as I would like to provide you a reading during these uncertain times. You will need to be able to either call me in Maine in the U.S.A. or connect with Skype to receive your reading. We are also accepting donations to keep these reports freely available. As always I am blessed that you've taken the time to connect with my passion for these ancient mysteries and their application to our journey during this incarnation.
