Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for May 6th to May 18th 2016

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of May 6th 2016 and 1 – Eb "eb" or Road in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Taurus New Moon, and Jupiter turning direct.

May 6th is 1 – Eb "eb" or Road carries the themes of destiny, guidance, travel, vessel of time, dew from heaven, abundance, organization, caretaking, empathy, growth, service to others, the ladder that connects heaven and earth, the life-force also known as Prana in the Vedic tradition and Chi in the Chinese culture, harvest, and humility. Ian Lungold described Road as "sometimes referred to as the sign of Grass, which is the most bountiful of all life forms, but is also the most humble." The road of life leads us to our true destiny on the spiritual path we all must travel. This thirteen day period would be a good time to humbly offer to serve others.

Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Eb "eb" or Road, on the 6th all the planets appear to be moving forward from our vantage point on Earth, except Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto which appear to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are the review the past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being played out. With five planets retrograde everything feels like it is moving slowly, patience is its own reward. Mercury turned retrograde April 28th and turns direct on May 22nd, so this trecena would be a good time to avoid signing contracts or other legal papers, making any major purchases, or even taking a new job. If you can postpone these types of activities the terms will be much clearer after Mercury is moving direct. Mercury retrogrades force us to slow down and pay more attention to our lives by making us focus on the details of our daily experience. When looking at a retrograde cycle of any of the personal or inner planets, it provides information about a correction to our present course. Mars representing drive and aggression, is in Sagittarius. Mars will retrograde back into Scorpio, the sign of its traditional rulership on May 27th. Retrograde Mars in Sagittarius has us reviewing our drives related to our beliefs, and in Scorpio the ethics of our actions are reviewed. Retrograde Mars can cause frustration as our energy to get things done is retarded, which can lead to irritability and aggression. Jupiter was the king of the gods, and the planet is about good fortune, opportunities, faith, religion, beliefs and expansion. Jupiter is in Virgo and Virgo is about organization, health, and service. Mostly what I find with Jupiter retrograde, as with any retrograde cycle there is a review of the past, and with Jupiter what gets reviewed are missed opportunities. Retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius delays success until perseverance and patience are learned. Sagittarius themes are travel, education, adventure, expanding our horizons, and planning for upcoming experiences. Saturn brings the details to the grand overview of Sagittarius. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands we take responsibility to review our beliefs while in Sagittarius. Pluto the planet of transformation through a death and rebirth cycle, is retrograde, which is about reviewing the past, and is a time of releasing anything from the past that is a burden to our new path. Pluto represents death, completion, and in Capricorn, the breakdown of structures, to bring about transformation.

The big change in the Road trecena is Jupiter changing directions, as it moves direct on the 9th. Which will bring more opportunities and possibility for expansion. This also helps us as the number of retrograde planets move to four, and then to three, as Mercury turns direct during the Serpent trecena. There has been a lot of hype regarding having five planets retrograde, but this is not an uncommon experiences particularly during the summer months when the outer planets are retrograde.

Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
May 6th is 1 – Eb "eb" or Road: unity experienced through serving your community in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Taurus New Moon as it merges with Venus, the Sun, and Mercury, is in harmony with Neptune, and supported by Jupiter and Pluto, which influences the new moon with people feeling cheerful, warm, gregarious, and wanting to go out and socialize, followed by being very sensitive to the moods of others, then feelings of inner and outer equanimity, followed by feeling on a deeper more intense level, and finally positive energy for integrating our thoughts and moods. The New Moon-Mercury conjunction forms a grand trine with Jupiter and Pluto, which is very positive energy, with no squares or oppositions to the lunation that limit its benevolence. This is a calming New Moon. Taurus is a fixed earth sign which brings grounding energy that wants to find stability. New Moons bring the opportunity to set an intension for manifestation on the following full moon. Look to the house of your astrology chart that contains 16 degrees 41 minutes, almost 17 degrees, Taurus to consider what area of your life is being activated by this new moon. For me that would be my eleventh house of hopes and dreams but also friends and groups, so I would set an intension related to using this energy for furthering dreams and friendships. The new moon in Taurus is about security, practical concerns, money, land, real estate, and our physical bodies.

The 7th is 2 – Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: duality experienced through maintaining the home, while the Sun trines Pluto which brings very intense and powerful experiences which may illuminate our deepest psychology and darkest normally unseen mental realms. This is great transformational energy for investigation into what parts of our lives should be reformed. This transit illuminates our motives and is great for studying our inner workings. People are more likely to express themselves more forcefully which can make an impact on someone, but be careful of folks who use this energy for ruthless or selfish purposes. The best use of this energy is for your own personal growth and evolution. Also on the 7th the Gemini Moon is opposed by Mars which influences people to be more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives.

May 8th is 3 Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: taking action through enjoying nature, while the Moon in Gemini is challenged by Neptune and Jupiter, and opposed by Saturn, which activates the mutable t-square. Which influences people emotionally beginning with daydreams and fantasies feeling more important than reality, followed benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, and finally feeling lonely and isolated.

The 9th is 4 – Men "men" or Eagle: stability through seeing from a higher perspective, with the Jupiter turns direct, meaning that it begins moving forward from our perspective here on Earth, after appearing to move in reverse since early January. Retrogrades are times of reviewing and Jupiter is about opportunities, so this will be a shift from people looking back on missed opportunities as they move forward into a more expansive future. In Virgo this will begin a time of expansion to service and organization, as well as opportunities for healthy changes. Also on the 9th Venus sextile Neptune, inspiring creative and romantic imagination, and is very nice energy between the planet of romantic love and her higher octave the planet of unconditional love. This might be a time when we experience universal love through our personal relationships. This is also very creative and imaginative energy, that seeks and appreciates beauty. Exposure to art, music, or poetry could help renew our consciousness during the pleasant dreamy fog of this transit. Also being in a pleasant environment such as beautiful spot in the country, a lovely garden, or looking at a majestic view will be very powerful during this transit. Neptune may give us a deeper sensitivity to the feelings and needs of our loved ones, which we are more than likely going to want to satisfy. Some may have the feeling of a soul union with another during this alignment. This is a good day to indulge in daydreams and fantasies. Also on the 9th the Sun conjuncts retrograde Mercury which prior to turning retrograde Mercury appears to be way out in front of the Sun, then retrogrades back to conjoin the Sun, and then falls behind the Sun. Prior to mechanized warfare Generals would send their cavalry ahead of the infantry to scout out the enemy's location, find possible resources, as well as the lay of the terrain to move the troops with maximum efficiency, safety and to their strategic advantage. I like to think of Mercury when it is stretching out in front of the Sun as gathering intelligence to report back to our consciousness' during its conjunction to the Sun. Using these two markers connected with a rubber band, I am hoping to illustrate this pattern. When Mercury, represented by the black marker, is in front of the Sun, represented by the red marker, it becomes easier to be overwhelmed by the increase in new information that seems to have no place to be deposited. This can increase our anxiety and the sense of losing control. As Mercury retrogrades the tension decreases until it merges with the Sun, which occurs on May 9th, finding the destination for the intelligence it has gathered. Once behind the Sun, Mercury feels as though it is creating drag that retards the possibility of implementing the new data until it regains forward motion in its pursuit of the Sun on May 22nd. Also on the 9th the Moon in Gemini stimulated by Uranus brings pleasant yet restless feelings craving emotional excitement to do something outside the daily routine.

May 10th is 5 – Men "men" or Eagle: stability through seeing from a higher perspective, with Venus trines Jupiter, which is one of the best transits except for its short duration, as it brings ease, grace, and pleasant social interactions. As with any Jupiter Venus transit, this can bring laziness and self indulgent behavior. Most will experience this as a needed break from the "daily grind". This is great energy for social interactions, entertainment, and amusements. Romance and financial interests are favored under this transit, along with traveling or taking a vacation the begins at this time as it indicates that the journey will be fun, enlightening, and rewarding. Due to the low energy of this transit, this is not the best time to start any enterprise that requires a great deal of energy. Also on the 10th the Cancer Moon supported by Neptune, in harmony with Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury, and opposed by Pluto which changes from our innermost subconscious fantasies and daydreams confusing reality, which may not be great for accomplishing much work, to wanting to be with friends and the people we love, followed by feeling in the flow and having a sense of wholeness, and later brings deep emotions rising to the surface, and finally people feeling chatty and having numerous conversations.

The 11th is 6 Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: being in the flow through gratitude for Mother Earth, while the Moon in Cancer in harmony with the Sun and challenged by Uranus which moves from feeling balance between our inner and outer worlds, to later folks acting hasty and jumping to conclusions that may not be correct.

May 12th is 7 Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint: reflection through being introspective, with Mercury trine Pluto, which can bring concern about the deeper issues in life. This has people wanting to dig below the surface to uncover mysteries. On a personal level this can be excellent for inner work, so it might be a good day for some "alone time" to discover some of the deeper dimensions of your psyche. Communications may seem rather serious and profound. Thoughts will be more focused and gain insights about important developments. Also on the 12th the Leo Moon finds support from Mars and Saturn, and is challenged by Venus, which shifts from feeling a little more confident than usual with the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner, followed by having a sober realistic view of life, and finally having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones.

The 13th is 8 – Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm: balance through recognizing the gifts in adversity, while Mercury conjunct Venus which stimulates our appreciation of beauty, whether it be art, poetry, music, people, or nature. In Taurus people may be more likely to be practical in expressing their love for others. This is a merging of the mental and emotional realms within ourselves, so folks may experience concepts with emotions or express feelings in an intellectual manner. This is wonderful for creativity or any type of artistic expression. This transit can be favorable for financial and business dealings, along with scientific research by seeing patterns in the universe and appreciating them aesthetically. Also on the 13th Venus trines Pluto which is a day when we might hear from or contemplate contacting a former lover. With Pluto involved this intensifies our emotional expression, as emotions come to the surface that can now be meaningfully expressed to your loved ones. This alignment deepens our emotions and can make relationships intense. It's quite likely people will feel love more strongly under this transit and express those feelings to the object of their affection. Sexual desires also increase under the Venus Pluto connection. This is not an intellectual experience, but rather love expressed through mind, body, and emotions. This transit can produce profound insights that reveal the inner workings of our relationships. Beginning a relationship during this transit indicates that the connection will feel quite intense as if being drawn together by some magical power. This can be a good relationship as long as the couple recognizes that the compulsive quality will wear off before the pairing solidifies into a long term relationship. This transit is great for artistic work because the emotional intensity characteristic can be harnessed in work that reveals the inner depth of the artist's soul. Also on the 13th the first quarter Moon in Leo is challenged by Mercury and the Sun, and supported by Uranus, which changes from folks being critical in their communications particularly with the people they have intimate relationships with, to later having the impulse to engage in activities that make us feel more alive, and finally we encounter challenges to our daily routines.

May 14th is 9 – Ahau "ah-how" or Sun: patience experienced through honoring the wisdom and memory of our ancestors, with the Virgo Moon challenged by Mars which brings the potential for people to be irritable and have needless disputes.

The 15th is 10 – Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile: manifestation through nurturing new beginnings, with the Sun sextiles Chiron which illuminates wounds to allow healing. Also on the 15th the Moon in Virgo is opposed by Neptune, merges with Jupiter, is challenged by Saturn, and supported by Mercury, Pluto, and Venus, which brings a busy day of emotional stimulus that begins with feeling sensitive emotionally but confused regarding the accuracy of what's being felt, then moves to good feelings and generosity towards others, followed by people feeling lonely or isolated, then later feeling in touch with our emotions and expressing them to others, followed by feeling on a deeper more intense level, and finally enjoying pleasant feelings and social interactions.

May 16th is 11 –  Ik "eek" or Wind: resolution through communication, while the Moon is supported by the Sun, and stimulated by Mars which shifts from feeling a sense of inner harmony which is mirrored in the outside world, to later brings the desire to work independently from others.

The 17th is 12 – Akbal "awk-bol" or Night: understanding through contemplating the stars, with the Libra Moon in harmony with Saturn which influences people to wanting to be alone in their thoughts and feelings.

May 18th is 13 – Kan "con" or Seed or Lizard: movement to the next stage through planting seeds and making new connections, with the Moon in Libra challenged by Pluto and opposed by Uranus which begins with having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, then later changes to folks acting emotionally excitable and impulsive.

So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Road trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
