This is the "Care and feeding
of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of May 21st for
1 – Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Sun moving into Gemini, and the Sagittarius Full
Moon.
May 21st
is 1 –
Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile which
carries the themes of beginnings,
Mother Earth, protection and trust, nurturing, primordial energy, new
opportunities and information, instincts, primal creativity, water-lily,
abundance, the essence of nature, beauty, receptivity and growth. Much like
other indigenous people who believed that the Earth was carried on the back of
a turtle, the Maya believed that our planet was carried on the back of a
crocodile who would nurture and protect all life forms. They believed that from
this primal force humans received messages and feelings about our connection to
Mother Earth. This thirteen day period would be excellent to spend time in
nature and listen to the subtle messages from Gaia. With One crocodile, we
begin a 260 day Tzolkin round which ends with 13 – Ahau on February 4th 2016.
This being the 1 - Crocodile trecena: unity through nurturing new beginnings
and the beginning of a new Tzolkin round, I thought I would talk about the
Tzolkin Calendar. Which Ian Lungold referred to as the personal calendar of the
Maya. The Tzolkin is a 260 day calendar made of 13 galactic tones numbered 1 to
13 and 20 sacred sun signs. The combination of these two intensions were so
important to the Maya, that their Day Sign was their first name, because it set
their life's intension. For instance my Day Sign is 13 - Imix or Crocodile
which is about moving to the next level through nurturing new beginnings.
That's what I'm here to do. I ascend in consciousness through nurturing others
to have new experiences. If you're interested, Mayan Majix is a great resource
for all things Tzolkin, including my favorite the "Mayan Calendar and
Conversion Codex." This diagram shows the 20 sacred sun signs.
Each sign is colored to show its relationship to the four directions and four
elements. We begin with Crocodile which is red representing east, fire, and birthing. Next is Wind in
white connected to North, air, and the mind. Then Night is blue
representing the west, water and endings, and Seed in
yellow is aligned with the south, earth and the body. As we move around the wheel
the pattern stays consistent, red, white, blue, yellow, red and so on. I find
it interesting that each trecena ends with the same direction it starts with so
the groupings of 13 days follow the same pattern 1 - Crocodile is red, followed
by 1 - Jaguar white, followed by 1 - Deer blue, and 1 - Sun yellow.
If you follow your personal Tzolkin you may know that every 65 days we
experience "burner days" relative to our Day Sign. For instance I am
13 - Crocodile so I experience more intense growth opportunities on the days
leading up to and including 13 - Crocodile, 13-Transformation, 13-Monkey, and
13-Wisdom, which likewise follows the pattern of red, white, blue, and
yellow. The colored halos around the day signs and the squares that
connect them are to demonstrate the five burner sets. I had a question about
the Tzolkin: "Do we still feel the influences of the first day sign of the
trecena for which the 13 day period is named, as strongly later in the cycle as
we do in the first half of the trecena? Or is its influence adjusted by the
procession of its internal signs?" I think both are true... The influence
of Crocodile is the overall energy of this trecena but it's like hearing a hum
when we first walk into a room, the longer we're in the room the more our ears
hear the changing sounds and filter out the humming noise. If we listen closely
on May 30th, we can still feel the influence of Crocodile along with hearing
the dog's melodic howl. But that's just my opinion.
Since we begin a new Gregorian month during
this trecena, I thought I'd discuss the metaphysics of the upcoming month.
June is the sixth month and with the digits for 2015, when added together we
get 14, then we add 1 + 4 to tell us that this is a fourteen/five month in
numerology.
Basic numerology reduces numbers to one through nine, so when we think about
that arc the 5 represents a time of major shifts and breakthroughs as the 5
represents the peak of the numerological cycle such as reaching the top of the
mountain and having a view of the upcoming descent down the other side of the 9
month cycle. Mercury turns direct on the 11th supports the implementation of a
new direction based on the information and experiences we were exposed to in
May. A five month brings new opportunities, options, and choices through our
creativity. The fourteen/five combination are represented by the Art/Temperance
and the Hierophant in the Tarot cards, which is about integration of opposites
to discover the ground that transcends them both, which we bring forth as
teachers, who learn from what we share and the experience of those who honor us
by implementing our guidance in their lives. This Ken Wilbur quote from No
Boundaries provides a description of the Art/Temperance archetype, "The
point is...to unify and harmonizes opposites both positive and negative, by
discovering the ground that transcends them both." From the Course in
Miracles comes this quote for the Hierophant, "'As you teach so will you
learn.' If that is true, and it is true indeed, don't forget that what you
teach is teaching you." So this June represents a breakthrough on many
levels including integrating opposites and learning through teaching.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile, on the 21st all the planets appear to be moving forward
from our vantage point on Earth, except Mercury, Saturn and
Pluto which appears to move retrograde or in
reverse motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are the review the
past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being played out. Mercury retrograde in Gemini until June 11th
would be a good time to avoid signing contracts or other legal papers, making
any major purchases, or even taking a new job. If you can postpone these types
of activities the terms will be much clearer after Mercury is moving direct.
That may seem impossible, so if you can avoid these activities a few days
before and after Mercury changing directions on the 11th, when the energy is at
its most potent, would be beneficial. Mercury retrogrades force us to slow down
and pay more attention to our lives by making us focus on the details of our daily
experience. When looking at a retrograde cycle of any of the personal or inner
planets, it provides information about a correction to our present course. Saturn retrograde reviews
our commitments, plans, what we do for work, and structures of our lives. This one
is a little more complicated than most because Saturn begins its apparent
reverse movement in Sagittarius, but eventually backs into the final degrees of
Scorpio. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands we take responsibility
to review, our beliefs while in Sagittarius and our ethics while in Scorpio. When Pluto, the planet of transformation through a death
and rebirth cycle, is retrograde, which is about reviewing the past, and
releasing anything from the past that is a burden to our new path. Pluto in
Capricorn is determined in exposing the darkness, destroying the old order, so
that we can rise up like the Phoenix from the ashes to soar again. Capricorn is
about large structures which includes banks, governments, corporations, and
religions. Pluto is in Capricorn until 2023 where it is destroying and
regenerating the structures that are the foundation of our societies
represented by Capricorn. This is a time of a cosmic course correction for the
entire planet. We cannot continue to harm Mother Earth for the economic gain of
a few. It is the resistance to Pluto's lesson of letting go of the past, that
brings tragedy and pain.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
May 21st is
1 – Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile: unity
experienced through nurturing new beginnings in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar. On the 21st the
Sun enters Gemini which illuminates communication, along with Mercury moving
through the sign of the twins, the energy gets very fast, highlighting
intelligence and adaptability as information flows at an increased rate. Also on the 21st Venus opposed by Pluto which will intensify relationships. When Venus dances with
Pluto, it is not uncommon to hear from our past lovers or pine for someone from
your past, usually it's best to leave these old partners where they are, but
some will not be able to resist digging up the dead to be sure of the
relationships' demise. Overall this intensifies experiences in our love lives.
People will seek emotional experiences that transport them out of the ordinary,
which could also lead to indiscretions that lead to problems later on. A new relationship
begun under this transit may have a compulsive nature to it. Watch out for
people wanting to exert power over others through manipulating jealousy, guilt
or another negative emotion. Some will feel irresistibly attracted to someone
who is not good for them. Relationships may struggle due to hidden resentments
and tensions rising to the surface, just being conscious of that and choosing
your words carefully, so they are not interpreted as destructive, can provide
an opportunity for growth in partnership. Also on the 21st the Cancer Moon finds support from Neptune, merges with
Venus, is opposed by Pluto. and challenged by Uranus. The day begins with fantasies and daydreams distracting us
from accomplishing routine tasks, followed by feeling cheerful, warm,
gregarious, and wanting to go out and socialize, with deep emotions rising to
the surface, and finally people are likely to act hasty and jump to
conclusions.
The 22nd is 2 – Ik "eek" or Wind: duality experienced through
communication, with the Sun opposing Saturn
which makes us conscious of limitations in our lives, that have been imposed by
others or circumstances. Just knowing that this energy is effecting us is
helpful, also knowing that it only lasts a day. This may also be a difficult day
for communication, just don't let it drag you down or overwhelm you. This day
is about trying to find a way to balance our needs with our obligations. People
may not feel effective psychologically which may make communications more
difficult, as folks feel a conflict between the needs of others and
self-expression, so it is important to find a balance between your needs and
your obligations. Neither is meant to win over the other. If our obligations
wins over our self expression, we will feel restless and unfulfilled, but if we
ignore our duties to do only as we choose, we will experience conflicts with
others. Compromise is the best avenue for the 22nd.
This can also affect us psychologically with feelings of isolation and
loneliness.
Also on the 22nd the Leo Moon
harmonizes with the Sun and is supported by Saturn which shifts from feeling balance between our inner and outer
worlds, to later settling into a more sober and realistic view of life.
May
23rd is
3 – Akbal "awk-bol" or Night: taking action
through contemplating the stars, while the Moon in Leo harmonizes with Mars and
Mercury which moves from having the desire to work independently from others, followed by lots of
chatting with friends, neighbors, coworkers.
The 24th is 4 - Kan "con" or
Seed or Lizard: stability through planting seeds and making new connections,
with the Leo Moon merging with Jupiter and stimulated by Uranus which begins
with good feelings and
generosity towards others, followed by having the impulse to engage in
activities that make us feel more alive.
May 25th is
5 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent: empowerment
through being flexible, with Venus square Uranus has folks seeking excitement in their love relationships,
this can include picking a fight to experience a different aspect of
interacting. The end of May is intense as we have the planet of love, but also
money in Cancer being challenged by the "Winds of Change". Because
Uranus is involved this is unpredictable. Themes of this energetic might be an
unexpected stock market drop, a change in spending due to scarcity, or a
currency change in oil markets where the dollar had been the preferred measurement
of value. On a personal level folks are looking for something exciting, out of
the ordinary, and so if your relationship has become dull or predictable this
is the time to inject it with a new experience, rather than have it erupt into
a fight about "how we never do anything interesting..." Basically the
less flexibility in a relationship during this transit, the more damaging this
alignment is likely to be. Also on the 25th expect intellectual conflicts where folks try to convince
each other of their personal "truth" while
Mars is squaring Neptune which can be difficult because it brings up a
sense of doubt and discouragement. This also brings energy for confrontations
where people feel inadequate and try to avoid challenges that they hoped would
just go away. People also question what they are doing with their lives.
Recognize that this will last a few days so it's best not to get lost in any
hopeless feelings. Neptune can also diminish our energy and decrease our
self-confidence represented by Mars. Also on the 25th the first quarter Virgo Moon is challenged by Saturn and the
Sun which moves from people
feeling lonely or isolated, to later having challenges to following a daily
routine.
The 26th is 6 – Cimi
"key-mee" or Transformation: being in the flow through releasing what
no longer serves us, while Venus trine Chiron helps to release old wounds and heal
disagreements, particularly related to relationships. Also on the 26th the Moon in Virgo is opposed by Neptune,
challenged by Mars and Mercury, supported by Pluto, and harmonizes with Venus
which begins with feelings of empathy for
those around us, including the possibility of clairvoyance and telepathic
experiences for those of us who are sensitive by nature, then people feeling
irritable which could lead to needless disputes, followed by our moods
influencing our ability to think rationally, then later feeling on a deeper
more intense level under the influence of Pluto, and finally wanting to be with
friends and the people we love under Venus' influence.
May 27th is
7
- Manik "man-eek" or Deer: reflection
through being of service to others, with Mercury is conjunct Mars
which should be handled with care because folks are more argumentative and take
their egos too seriously for a few days. There could be information that
activates circumstances with the need to take action. With Mercury retrograde,
past conversations and thoughts are more likely to trigger anger that rises up
from the shadows.
Also on the 27th the Libra Moon
harmonizes with Saturn which brings realistic expectations through being calm and reflective.
The 28th is 8Lamat
"la-maught" or Star or Rabbit: balance through being grateful for
abundant relationships, with the Moon in Libra finding support from the Sun,
Mercury, and Mars which moves from feeling a sense of inner harmony which is mirrored in the outside
world, followed by feeling in touch with our emotions and expressing them to
others, and finally feeling a little more confident than usual with the ability
to assert ourselves in a positive manner.
May 29th is
9
- Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: patience
experienced through appreciating creation, while the second Mercury squares Neptune which brings
considerable confusion to communications and thinking. This will be a time to
carefully choose words to avoid being misunderstood. In order to avoid
confrontations, folks will be more likely to keep secrets and withhold
controversial information. This is not recommended as it will only add to the
confusion. This is a day to be careful in business dealings as people may be
misrepresenting what they have to offer. Overall we should strive to keep
thinking and communications clear, factual, and rooted in reality, otherwise
this is likely to lead to unpleasant experiences. This is positive for studying
anything religious, spiritual or mystical, just don't get lost down the rabbit
hole. Also
on the 29th the Moon in Libra
challenged by Pluto and Venus, harmonizing with Jupiter, and opposed by Uranus
which shifts from having the compulsion to
act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, to feeling in the flow
and having a sense of wholeness, then later folks are emotionally excitable and
impulsive, and finally having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved
ones.
The 30th is 10 - Oc "awk" or Dog: manifestation through enjoying
family and friends, with the Sun conjuncts
retrograde Mercury which prior to
turning retrograde Mercury appears to be way out in front of the Sun, then
retrogrades back to conjoin the Sun, and then falls behind the Sun. Prior to
mechanized warfare Generals would send their cavalry ahead of the infantry to
scout out the enemy's location, find possible resources, as well as the lay of
the terrain to move the troops with maximum efficiency, safety and to their
strategic advantage. I like to think of Mercury when it is stretching out in
front of the Sun as gathering intelligence to report back to our consciousness'
during its conjunction to the Sun. Using these two
markers connected with a rubber band, I am hoping to illustrate this
pattern. When Mercury, represented by the black marker, is in front of the Sun, represented by the red marker, it
becomes easier to be overwhelmed by the increase in new information that seems
to have no place to be deposited. This can increase our anxiety and the sense
of losing control. As Mercury retrogrades
the tension decreases until it merges with the Sun, which occurs on May 30th,
finding the destination for the intelligence it has gathered. Once behind the Sun, Mercury feels as though it is
creating drag that retards the possibility of implementing the new data until
it regains forward motion in its pursuit of
the Sun on June 11th.
Also on the 30th the Scorpio Moon makes no angles which does not favor major
decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this
latest round of energy and experiences.
May 31st is 11 – Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: resolution through
creating something new, while the Sun square Neptune, which brings
a low energy day which seems to take more energy to complete the normal daily
tasks. If possible this would be a day have a lighter schedule and more time
for rest. Some will feel a little beaten down by this transit, so this is not a
good day for work that requires courage or great self confidence. Don't get
discouraged, this energy only lasts a day. Also on the 31st the Moon in Scorpio is supported by Neptune, harmonizes with
Pluto, and is challenged by Jupiter which begins with our innermost subconscious fantasies and
daydreams confusing reality, which may not be great for accomplishing much work,
followed by having deep emotions finding their way to the surface and felt on a
profound level, and finally benevolent and generous feelings for those in our
immediate environment.
June
1st is 12 - Eb "eb" or Road: understanding
through serving your community, with the Moon supported by Venus and merging
with Saturn which shifts from enjoying pleasant feelings and social interactions, to later
wanting to be alone in our thoughts and feelings.
The 2nd is 13
- Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: movement to
the next stage through maintaining the home, with the Sagittarius Full Moon at 11
degrees 23 minutes opposing the Gemini Sun, Mars, and Mercury, challenged by
Neptune, and supported by Jupiter. Full moons are a time of tension as the Sun in Gemini is about
balancing thought, self expression, which can include imposing a point of view
on another, with the Moon in Sagittarius, representing a wider perspective of
philosophy and mental expression. We do have Mercury in opposition to this
lunation which can bring some people feeling a real conflict between feelings
and reason and others having fruitful expressions of their deeper awareness
either internally or with another. Moon challenged by Neptune influences us with daydreams and fantasies
feeling more important than reality. Opposed by Mars which influences people to
be more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives.
Moon supported by Jupiter brings feelings of inner and outer equanimity with
people having a pleasant sense of wellbeing.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Crocodile trecena,
take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a
sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment
through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is
a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the
performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe
the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a
human experience.
