This is the "Care and feeding
of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of May 8th 2015 for 1 – Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit or Venus in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Mars moving into Gemini, the Taurus New Moon, and
Mercury turning retrograde.
May 8th is 1 – Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit or Venus which carries the themes of abundance,
playfulness, fertility, growth, ripeness, physical pleasure and spiritual
inspiration, artistry, creation, joy and humor. One Star is also known as One
Rabbit or One Venus. The glyph for Star is the planet Venus which is associated
with death and rebirth as Venus disappears as the evening star and then
reappears as the morning star. Venus is the Morning
Star after the inferior conjunction
(I.C.) when it is in front of the Sun and cannot be seen due to its close
proximity to the Sun which lasts about 8 days and before the superior conjunction (S.C.) when Venus transits behind
the Sun and is not visible for about 50 days. Venus is the Evening Star after the S.C.
and before the I.C. Both the Morning star and
Evening star phases lasts approximately 260 days and of course 260 days is
exactly the length of a Tzolkin round and 1 - Star is the final trecena of the
260 day round, so the next "Care and Feeding" will celebrate a new
round with 1 - Imix or Crocodile on May 21st. I think it's interesting that
modern Mayanologists have emphasized the Venus transit across the face of the
sun in relation to Mayan cosmology, but the Dresden Codex which details precise
knowledge of Venus' full cycle, makes no mention of the transit. This makes me
wonder if this is a modern projection onto the Maya, because although the Venus
transit which occurs twice every 243 years, during the I.C. is remarkable when
viewed from the Earth, it is certainly a lesser energetic force compared to the
S.C. when Venus is hidden behind the Sun and traveling in the same direction.
After all, we westerners love pyrotechnics, but might have missed the boat
regarding the actual energetic as it relates to the spiritual realm. This thirteen day period would be a
time to be grateful for any abundance or harvest in our lives whether it be
food or spiritual insight.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Lamat
"la-maught”, on the 8th all the planets appear
to be moving forward from our vantage point on Earth, except Saturn and Pluto which
appears to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Remember the themes of
retrograde planets are the review the past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can
see these themes being played out. Saturn
retrograde reviews our commitments, plans, what we do for work, and structures
of our lives. This one is a little more complicated than most because Saturn
begins its apparent reverse movement in Sagittarius, but eventually backs into
the final degrees of Scorpio. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands
we take responsibility to review, our beliefs while in Sagittarius and our
ethics while in Scorpio.
When Pluto, the planet of transformation through
a death and rebirth cycle, is retrograde, which is about reviewing the past,
and releasing anything from the past that is a burden to our new path. Pluto in
Capricorn is determined in exposing the darkness, destroying the old order, so
that we can rise up like the Phoenix from the ashes to soar again. Capricorn is
about large structures which includes banks, governments, corporations, and
religions. Pluto is in Capricorn until 2023 where it is destroying and
regenerating the structures that are the foundation of our societies
represented by Capricorn. This is a time of a cosmic course correction for the
entire planet. We cannot continue to harm Mother Earth for the economic gain of
a few. It is the resistance to Pluto's lesson of letting go of the past, that
brings tragedy and pain.
The big change in the One
Star trecena is Mercury changing directions, as it moves retrograde on the 18th
and direct on June 11th, so the end of the month would be a good time to avoid
signing contracts or other legal papers, making any major purchases, or even
taking a new job. If you can postpone these types of activities the terms will
be much clearer after Mercury is moving direct. That may seem impossible, so if
you can avoid these activities a few days before and after Mercury changing
directions on the 18th and June 11th, when the energy is at its most potent,
would be beneficial. Mercury retrogrades force us to slow down and pay more
attention to our lives by making us focus on the details of our daily
experience. When looking at a retrograde cycle of any of the personal or inner
planets, they provide information about a correction to our present course.
During this report period we have Mercury traveling through the first stage of
the retrograde process since 5/4. There are two
important points to be aware of in looking at the cycle. We look at the point
where the planet appears to move backwards and
the point where it appears to move forward again.
The first stage represents the shadow time between passing 4 degrees Gemini,
the point where the planet will eventually begin moving forward again, and the
point where the planet slows, stops, and begins moving in reverse, 13 degrees Gemini.
During the first stage we receive information about needing to adjust our
direction. The second stage is the retrograde
phase and is a time to watch the events that occur related to the information
received in the 1st stage. The 3rd stage begins
when the planet is moving forward again until crossing the line where it
originally turned retrograde. During the 3rd stage we move forward with a
revision to our previous course. We entered into the 1st stage for Mercury on May
4th, so from then until the 18th, we receive information about an adjustment
that needs to be made in our lives. Mercury is
retrograde from 5/18 at 13 Gemini until 6/11 at 4 Gemini which will be
the time when we will notice events that shift our thinking, and from June 11th
to June 27th, we are in the 3rd stage where we
implement the change in direction from the awareness gained through
experiencing this process.
I've discovered that
Mercury retrogrades repeat every 79 years, so look for the reoccurrence of
themes from 1936, 1857 and 1778. Let's see if those were interesting times.
1936 saw Radium E become the first radioactive element to be made synthetically,
Emperor Hirohito orders the Japanese army to arrest 123 conspirators in Tokyo
government offices; after The Imperial Way Faction engineers a failed coup against the Japanese government, The Hoover Dam is

and the rise of unions in the United States with strikes across the country.

racetrack in Savannah, Georgia, for weeks beforehand, James
Buchanan
succeeds Franklin Pierce as President of the United States, in Dred Scott v. Sandford the Supreme Court of the United
States
rules that Blacks are not citizens and slaves cannot sue for freedom, driving
the country further towards the American Civil War, an
earthquake in Tokyo, Japan, kills over 100,000, the End of the Anglo-Persian
War,
the Indian Rebellion of 1857 with the 3rd Light
Cavalry of the British East India Company's army rebels
against its British officers, thus beginning the rebellion and Indian
combatants capture Delhi from the East India Company, followed by the Siege
of Lucknow
and the second massacre at Kanpur, and Delhi was later recaptured in 1857 by British
forces, and the Panic of 1857 begins with speculation in U.S. railroad
shares and collapse on August 24 of the New York City branch of the Ohio Life Insurance and
Trust Company
following widespread embezzlement trigger a financial crisis which will
extend to Europe, in which New York banks close in October and do not reopen
for two months. 1857 was the time period when Neptune
was last in Pisces, as it is currently, which was a time of more
compassion for the suffering of slaves in the United States, but also more
opposition to that compassion. Which has made its way back into the conscious
event field with the awareness of police shooting, strangulation, and death
from spinal injuries of people of color without probable cause, yet white
people can carry military types of weapons in public without incident. Also
this seems to be being played out in the theme of Wealth Inequality, which if
all your income only pays for survival needs then isn't that a form of
enslavement? And of course here in the United States we have millionaire
legislators, who are voting for corporate interests over their constituents'
needs. We are certainly seeing an awakening in the protests regarding Racism
and Climate Change. I was reading recently that the 1% is becoming fearful of
America erupting in a way that is similar to the French Revolution.
1778 saw
the American Revolution continue with the Treaty of Alliance and the Treaty of Amity and
Commerce
signed by the United States and France, signaling official
French recognition of the new republic, with the Battle of Monmouth, the Wyoming
Massacre, Louis XVI of France declaring war on the Kingdom of Great Britain with the First Battle of Ushant: British and French fleets fight to a
standoff. The French invasion of Dominica captures the British fort there before the
latter is aware that France has entered the war in the Franco-American alliance. Also in 1778
brought the Captain James Cook, with ships HMS Resolution and HMS Discovery, explores and maps
the Pacific Northwest coast of North
America
from Cape Foulweather (Oregon) to the Bering
Strait.
In the Hawaiian Islands, Captain James
Cook
becomes the first European to land on Maui. and the Continental Congress passes the first budget of the United
States.
In 1778 the Continental Army becomes a more organized fighting unit.
Interestingly tactics that we look at as carried out by patriots early in the
war, would now be acts of terrorism from our modern viewpoint, such as attaching
a time bomb to the hull of the HMS Eagle or placing cannons on Dorchester
Heights overlooking Boston Harbor. These are themes of the Trickster archetype,
to use cleverness and covert actions rather than attempt to battle a more
powerful adversary on its own terms. Clearly we are looking at cycles within
cycles, the players have changed roles, but the themes of a decaying empire
collapsing under its own weight, with individuals employing tactics of
cleverness over direct confrontation, the oppressive power of fascist
governments, economic decline increasing the chasm between the elite and the
struggling throngs, and the growing compassion for those left without a voice
are the fabric of our times.
If you look at the house
of your astrological chart that contains 4 to 13 degrees of Gemini, you can
find the theme where you will experience revisions, reviews and rethinking of
the characteristics represented by that house. For me it is the twelfth house
of secrets, sorrows and self-undoing, the House of Karma, so I expect this
cycle to provide new information about completions to prepare for new
beginnings. No matter where the Mercury retrograde occurs in your chart, this
often leads to changing choices, goals, and directions. In the world look for
the themes of completion through intellectual review of the past particularly
related to communications about topics like intelligence, adaptability,
responsiveness, short distance travel, curiosity, fickleness, and duality when
Mercury moves through Gemini where it's in the sign of its rulership. All the
Mercury retrogrades in 2015 will be in air signs: Aquarius, Gemini, and finally
Libra.
As we began the trecena Mercury slows down and turns retrograde at 13 degrees
Gemini on the 18th. When a planet slows down to a stop from our perspective
here on earth, that planet is considered to be at the peak of its power and
Mercury being at the peak of its power reminds me that the Greek god Hermes,
who the Romans renamed to Mercury, was also the trickster god. He was the messenger of the Gods and if you weren't on his
good side you might not get your message or it might be altered to mean
something different than was intended. In
mythology the trickster is a god, goddess, woman, man, animal or spirit that creates
mischief by playing tricks and acting outside of the accepted rules of their
community. I do want share this quote from Joseph Campbell "Almost
all non-literate mythology has a trickster-hero of some kind. . . . And there’s
a very special property in the trickster: he always breaks in, just as the
unconscious does, to trip up the rational situation. He’s both a fool and
someone who’s beyond the system. And the trickster represents all those
possibilities of life that your mind hasn’t decided it wants to deal with. The
mind structures a lifestyle, and the fool or trickster represents another whole
range of possibilities. He doesn’t respect the values that you’ve set up for
yourself, and smashes them. . . . The fool is the breakthrough of the absolute
into the field of controlled social orders." And that is a great
description for Mercury retrograde. It also contains a formula for confronting
a much more powerful foe. Being cunning over fighting on their terms.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
May 8th is 1 – Lamat
"la-maught" or Star or Rabbit or Venus: unity experienced through being grateful for abundant relationships in the Mayan
Tzolkin calendar, while the Capricorn Moon harmonizes with Neptune, merges with
Pluto, finds support from the Sun, and is challenged by Uranus, which shifts
from being very sensitive to the moods of others, to having
more intense moods rising to the surface from deep in our psyches, followed by having
a sense of harmony within ourselves and supports any type of group activity and
relationships with the opposite sex, and finally people are likely to act hasty
and jump to conclusions.
The
9th is 2
– Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: duality experienced through appreciating creation, with the first of three Mercury square Neptune which
can confuse communication but also favors creative and spiritual activities.
Watch out for exaggeration and boasting, and some will cross over into outright
lying. Mercury is also communication, and in aspect to Neptune for a day or so
we have potential for confusion about the details of mundane daily events but a
wonderful potential to connect with spiritual realms through being in nature,
meditating, and engaging in inner work. Overall it's best to carefully
formulate exactly what you wish to communicate, because if it could be
misunderstood, it probably will. Daydreaming is to be expected under this
influence. Not a great day for negotiations or signing contracts as these
activities will not be clear under the Neptunian fog. Also on the 9th the
Moon finds support from Mars and harmonizes with Saturn which moves from feeling a little more confident than usual with
the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner, to later wanting to be
alone in our thoughts and feelings.
May
10th is
3 – Oc "awk" or Dog: taking action
through enjoying family and friends, while
the Aquarius Moon finds support from Mercury and is opposed by Jupiter which
shifts from feeling in touch with our emotions and
expressing them to others, to later folks expressing feelings of generosity.
The 11th is 4 - Chuen "shoe-in"
or Monkey: stability through creating something new, while Mars
enters Gemini which brings an intellectual quality to sexual attraction,
where affairs begin in the mind before they become reality. A mental adventure
that eventually leads to physical passion. Aggression likewise will have an
intellectual quality and maybe scene as more covert forms like manipulation and
passive aggression than overt violence. Also on the 11th the Sun sextiles
Chiron illuminating old wounds to release what has been stuck or unconscious to
allow healing.
Also on the 11th the last quarter Moon is stimulated by Uranus, and challenged
by the Sun and Mars which moves from pleasant yet restless energy that desires emotional excitement,
followed by encountering challenges to our daily routines, and finally the
potential for people to be irritable and have needless disputes.
May 12th is 5 - Eb "eb" or Road:
empowerment through serving your community, while the
Pisces Moon is challenged by Saturn and Mercury, supported by Venus, and Merges
with Neptune which shifts from people feeling lonely
or isolated, to later enjoying pleasant feelings and social interactions,
followed by feelings of empathy for those around us, including the possibility
of clairvoyance and telepathic experiences for those of us who are sensitive by
nature, and finally our
moods influencing our ability to think rationally.
The
13th is
6 - Ben
"ben" or Reed
or Corn: being in the flow through maintaining
the home, with the Moon in Pisces in harmony with Pluto and the Sun which
influences folks to have deep emotions finding their
way to the surface and felt on a profound level, followed by feeling balance
between our inner and outer worlds.
May 14th is 7 - Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: reflection through enjoying nature, while the Aries Moon harmonizes with Mars
and Mercury, is supported by Saturn, and challenged by Venus which moves from having the desire to work independently from others, to having
a sober realistic view of life, then later pleasant energy for being with the others
we want to know better, and finally lots of chatting with friends, neighbors,
coworkers and being social with others.
The
15th is 8 Men "men" or Eagle:
balance through seeing from a higher perspective,
with Mars opposing Saturn
which prompts us to take responsibility for our actions which will emerge as a
new beginning on the Taurus New Moon on May 18th. Mars in a tense relationship
with Saturn can be cruel, as people will hold in their anger after being
wronged, rather than express that the other has wounded them in some way, it's
best to relax and avoid situations and people that produce meaningless tension
in our lives.
Also on the 15th the Moon in Aries finds support from Jupiter, is challenged by
Pluto and merges with Uranus which begins with people having a pleasant sense of wellbeing, followed by having
the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, and
finally people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with moods changing quickly
and unexpectedly.
May
16th is 9 - Cib "keeb" or Wisdom:
patience experienced through introspection,
meditation and forgiveness, while Venus trines Neptune. Venus finding support from her higher octave planet
Neptune is pleasant, romantic, creative, but not necessarily good for getting
things done. This is a supportive relationship between the planet of romantic
love and her higher octave the planet of unconditional love. This might be a
time when we experience universal love through our personal relationships. I
think this will be excellent energy for practices and studies that raise
consciousness like yoga, mysticism, spiritualism, and occult metaphysics as a
way to ground other worldly energy in the here and now. This is also very
creative and imaginative energy, that seeks and appreciates beauty. Exposure to
art, music, or poetry could help renew our consciousness during the pleasant
dreamy fog of this transit. This is excellent for any type of creativity that must
be conceived mentally prior to being brought into physical form. For the more
highly evolved this is experienced as great compassion and tenderness, as this
transit induces selflessness and spiritual love.
This is a good day to indulge in daydreams and fantasies. Also on the 16th
the Taurus Moon harmonizes with Neptune and Venus which brings greater sensitivity to others' emotions with
possible psychic impressions for those who are open, followed by having
pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones.
The
17th is
10 - Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: manifestation
through gratitude for Mother Earth, with the
Moon in Taurus challenged by Jupiter and supported by Pluto which moves from benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate
environment, to Pluto bringing out intense emotions and stimulating
sensitivity, which also favors sexual relationships.
May 18th is 11 – Etznab
"etz-nob" or Flint:
resolution through being introspective, with the Taurus New Moon as it merges with
the Sun and Mars, is opposed by Saturn, and challenged by Neptune, which
influences the new moon with some feeling lonely and isolated, followed by experiencing
irritable moods and critical communications, and finally daydreams and
fantasies feeling more important than reality. Taurus is a fixed earth sign
which brings grounding energy that want to find stability. New Moons bring the opportunity to
set an intension for manifestation on the following full moon. Look to the
house of your astrology chart that contains 26 degrees 56 minutes, almost 27
degrees, Taurus to consider what area of your life is being activated by this
new moon. For me that would be my twelfth house of secrets, sorrows, and self
undoing, but is also the most mystical of all the houses and is linked to
psychic powers, so I would set an intension related to using this energy. The
new moon in Taurus is about security, practical concerns, money, land, real
estate, and our physical bodies. Also on the 18th Mercury turns retrograde at 13 degrees Gemini. Even
folks who don't follow astrology are aware of Mercury's retrograde effect on
communication, technology and travel. This begins a time that shifts our review
of information below the surface, with a focus on Mercury’s sign of rulership
Gemini which is very fast
energy that will speed up communications and interest in a wider variety of
topics for the rest of the month, through June and into July. From
the 18th to June 11th would be a good time to avoid signing contracts or other
legal papers, making any major purchases, or even taking a new job. If you can
postpone these types of activities the terms will be much clearer after Mercury
is moving direct. The retrograde cycle provides information about a change or
correction in our cosmic course. In the context of the retrograde cycle I think of Mercury
retracing it's steps back in Gemini to gather information that will be needed
to support the tasks and projects that move forward during the peak
numerological five month of June when Mercury is direct. Being flexible will be
key to adapting to the ever shifting information of Mercury in Gemini. Those
with a high need for control will be especially challenged. This will be an
interesting day as the Taurus New Moon seeks stability and retrograde Mercury
in Gemini needs flexibility. It reminds me of bamboo that is stable because its
flexible.
The
19th is 12 - Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm:
understanding through recognizing the gifts in adversity,
with the Gemini Moon merging with Mercury, and harmonizing with Jupiter and
Uranus, which begins with positive energy for
integrating our thoughts and moods, then later feeling in the flow and
having a sense of wholeness, and finally having pleasant yet restless feelings craving emotional
excitement to do something outside the daily routine.
May
20th is 13 - : movement to the next stage through
"ah-how"
honoring the wisdom and memory of our ancestors, while Moon
in Gemini makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Cancer, which
does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to
assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Star trecena, take
some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a
sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment
through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is
a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the
performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe
the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a
human experience.
