This
is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian
date of December
16th and 1 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or
Serpent in the Mayan Tzolkin
calendar,
with Mercury entering Capricorn,
Uranus turning direct, the Sun entering Capricorn for the Solstice and New
Moon, and Saturn entering Sagittarius.
December 16th is 1
- Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent
which carries the themes of
unity, flexibility, fluidity,
movement, creation of time, kundalini, bringer of rain, the sky serpents, blood
lightning, passion, the life force that flows through everything, the energy
connecting our primal root electricity to our spiritual expression and the
transcendence of duality, "Samadhi". Serpents are important in many different cultures from kundalini of the
Hindi chakra system and blood lightning in the Mayan tradition to the Greek
serpent eating it own tail, represents life, death and rebirth. Often
associated with Gnosticism, it represents eternity. In China the snake is
replaced with Dragon eating its own tail. In Aboriginal Australia the Rainbow
Serpent is the guardian of life, fertility, water and other precious resources.
And of course the Mayan god Quetzalcoatl, is the feathered or plumed serpent,
the god of wind, the giver of breath and also the creator deity, when he
descended into the land of the dead to gather up precious bones which he
sprinkled with his own blood to create humans. This thirteen day period is an
important time to connect with spirit, to have faith in your journey,
experience gratitude in the moment, and let love guide your actions.
Before I
get into the daily energy for 1 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent trecena, on the 16th all the planets appear to be
moving forward from our vantage point on Earth except Jupiter
and Uranus which appears to move retrograde or
in reverse motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are the review the
past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being played out. Jupiter retrograde in Leo brings a review of opportunities,
faith, religion, beliefs and expansion. Leo is about leadership, creativity,
drama, entertainment, and children. Mostly what I find with Jupiter retrograde,
as with any retrograde cycle there is a review of the past, and with Jupiter
what gets reviewed are missed opportunities. Uranus
in Aries appearing to be stopped at the opening of Chicchan, prior to appearing to move direct or in forward motion
from the perspective of the Earth on December
21st at 12 degrees of Aries, is seeking to shake
our very foundation through the unexpected rebellion of the individual.
Retrograde Uranus in Aries has had people wanting to hurry the process of
getting free. To push the river of revolution whether it be personal or
political. Being an outer planet, Uranus creates events that we
"respond" to. The inner planets effect us personally as individuals,
but the outer planets change the landscape which effects us as a collective and
as individuals within humanity.
The big change during the
Serpent trecena is Uranus changing directions, with Uranus in Aries is slowing
to a stop as it prepares to turn direct at 12 degrees 34 minutes of Aries on
December 21st. When a planet is stopped it is said to be at the peak of its
power, so Uranus is at the peak of its power during December. Obviously this is
a difficult time of upheaval, destruction, death, unexpected change, natural
disasters, violence and war. I think that this is the time of detaching
(Uranus) to act as an unobstructed individual (Aries). When I think of the day Uranus changed signs
moving from Pisces into Aries on March 11 2011, I always remember that was the
day of the Japanese earth quake and tsunami which crippled the Fukushima Nuclear
Power Plants, which are still unstable and spewing radiation to this day. And
of course Uranus rules Uranium... Uranus in astrology forces us outside our
comfort zone so we have to look for possibilities "outside the box."
This is about unplanned experiences that disrupt our perceived and planned life
path in order to move us forward in our spiritual evolution, individually and
globally.
Uranus spends approximately seven years in a sign and leaves Aries for
Taurus in 2018 then retrogrades back to Aries and finally departs for almost 80
years, March of 2019. These seven year cycles are about testing us to adapt to
a new change, and we are currently experiencing the Aries test. Which reminds me of this Krishnamurti quote
"The only hope for humankind is in the transformation of the
individual." Which brings us to the theme of Aries: the self, the
individual, the new beginning... This time particularly impacts people with
personal planets in the signs of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn, and of course Aries,
as these planets become doorways to something unexpected and yet authentic.
Which sets the stage for the epic seven challenging squares with Pluto in
Capricorn that we've been discussing since 2012. As the individuals (Aries)
revolting (Uranus) against the decaying power (Pluto) structures (Capricorn),
which we can see this in almost every corner of the Earth as the individuals
and groups protest oppression from the global elite. I believe the uprisings
will be successful in overthrowing the old regimes and patriarchy, but it's an
uphill fight for some time to come. Interestingly, the last time there were
Uranus Pluto squares, was 1932 to 1934, Uranus was in Aries as it is now, and
as we have talked about before the Mercury retrograde cycles repeat every 79
years, so we are currently repeating the 1935 Mercury cycle which brings
forward similar aspects that we see being played out in the event field. That
was a time of great upheaval with events such as the Dust Bowl, which was
caused by farming practices that stripped the soil, which when the weather
changed destroyed the landscape. Today we are seeing the soil destroyed and
crops becoming unhealthy to humans by farming practices like the use of Roundup
and GMO seeds. The mid-1930s was also the time of the Great Depression with
international power struggles, leadership changes, and financial adjustments,
such as the New Deal programs, under F.D.R. in the U.S. from 1933 to 1936, as a
safety net for the poor and unemployed, which are the same programs that the
U.S. government is currently trying to dismantle. And we see these themes being
played out in many other countries at that time as well.
In thinking of the many environmental events we are facing whether
manmade or natural, I was reminded that Uranus was one of the original gods to
the Greeks. He was the sky god and the husband of the earth goddess Gaia. He was
born out of the primordial chaos, and came every night to cover the earth and
mate with Gaia. Unfortunately he hated the children she bore him and killed or
imprisoned most of them, until his son Cronus or Saturn ambushed his father,
castrated him, and cast the severed testicles into the sea, which then became
Aphrodite or Venus the goddess of love. After being disposed the sky no longer
covered the earth at night and instead held its place above the earth. Which I
guess was the beginning of being able to study the movements of the planets and
stars in the night sky. Uranus rules astrology.
Of course Uranus in Aries has been playing out these really difficult
squares with Pluto in Capricorn over the last few years, including April's
cardinal grand cross with Mars in Libra and Jupiter in Cancer. And although
Jupiter and Mars are no longer challenging the Uranus Pluto square, we
currently have the Venus, then Mercury, and the Sun, moving through Capricorn
and activating a square by conjuncting Pluto and squaring Uranus during
December and into January. Given that these heavenly bodies transiting
Capricorn are moving quickly they do trigger some challenging days throughout
the month, and we just had the sixth of seven Uranus Pluto squares on December
15th. This is not as tense as it was a in April, but it still feels like an
very uncomfortable amount of tension.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
December 16th is 1 - Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent: unity
experienced through being
flexible in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Mercury entering into Capricorn, which adds momentum as planets begin to
cluster in the sign of business, government, industry, and finance, where Pluto has been focused on breaking down these systems
since 2008. Mercury in the sign of the goat-fish is serious in its
communications and thinking. This begins a good period for business and
thinking about goals for 2015. Also on the 16th the Libra
Moon is opposed by Uranus, challenged by Pluto, and in harmony with Jupiter,
which begins the day with folks
acting emotionally excitable and impulsive, and having the
compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, then
later feeling in the flow and having a sense of wholeness.
The 17th is 2 -
Cimi "key-mee" or
Transformation: duality experienced through releasing what no longer serves us,
with the Moon in harmony with the Sun and Mercury, and finding support from
Neptune which moves from feelings of inner and outer equanimity, to
later folks being very
social and having lots of conversations, and finally fantasies
and daydreams distracting us from accomplishing routine tasks.
December 18th
is 3
- man-eek" : taking action through being of service to others, while
the Scorpio Moon harmonizes with Venus and Pluto, and is challenged by Mars in
which the day’s emotional energy shifts from wanting to be with
friends and the people we love, to later people feeling irritable which could
lead to needless disputes, and finally experiencing deep emotions on a profound
level.
The 19th is 4 -
Lamat "la-maught" or Star
or Rabbit: stability through being grateful for abundant relationships, with the Moon in
Scorpio challenged by Jupiter and merging with Saturn which moves from benevolent
and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, to later wanting
to be alone in our thoughts and feelings.
December
20th is 5
- Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: empowerment through appreciating creation, with Mercury sextile Neptune, which is very
positive for stimulating the imagination and also brings a greater sensitivity
to the more subtle energies and psychic information. This could be a period of
dreaminess where folks spend more time fantasizing. Withdrawal from life is not
bad, and is often important for feeding the world within through inspiration,
as the intangible reality is as important as the material world. This may be a
times where we are more aware of what's going on in the minds of others, which
often makes it difficult to keep intuitions organized. Clarity and detail are
not favored at this time.
Also on the 20th Venus square Uranus and conjunct Pluto, which activates the Uranus Pluto square for a few days before and
after the 20th, and Venus square Uranus has folks
seeking excitement in their love relationships, this can include picking a
fight to experience a different aspect of interacting. The middle of December
is intense as we have the planet of love, but also money in Capricorn being
challenged by the "Winds of Change". Because Uranus is involved this
is unpredictable but also can be drastic with Pluto in concert. Themes of this
energetic might be an unexpected stock market drop, a change in spending due to
scarcity, or a currency change in oil markets where the dollar had been the
preferred measurement of value. On a personal level folks are looking for
something exciting, out of the ordinary, and so if your relationship has become
dull or predictable this is the time to inject it with a new experience, rather
than have it erupt into a fight about "how we never do anything
interesting..." Basically the less flexibility in a relationship during
this transit, the more damaging this alignment is likely to be. Venus conjuncts Pluto,
which is active for a few days before and after the 20th. When we merge the
energy of romantic love with the energy of death and rebirth, we get contacted
by ex-lovers or we contact them. Typically if the relationship had problems
before, thus becoming ex-lovers, re-connecting to a past romantic interest does
not yield a sustainable relationship. So I encourage folks to fight the urge to
merge with the ex. Regardless this does intensify love experiences. Some feel
insecure in their relationship which can lead to feeling possessive or jealous.
Venus transits are relatively quick so be careful not to do or say something
that cannot be corrected. We no longer have Jupiter in orb of the Uranus Pluto
square, so we have lost that level of protection. Also on the 20th Mars sextiles Uranus, which is rather impatient and restless, not great for the
daily routine, because it desires new experiences and activities. Expect people
to be more unpredictable for a day or so, this doesn't have to be disruptive if
we view it as a time to get out of a rut rather than feeling as though our
expectations are not being met. This can bring new insights, stimulating
experiences, and a new level of acceptance for people with different
perspectives. During
this time Mars is in Uranus' sign Aquarius and Uranus is in Mars' sign of Aries, we have mutual reception between the two planets. This can
be seen as the planets are allies and strengthen each other. I would keynote
these forces as unexpected action and aggressive upheaval, but also as
assertive ingenuity and humanitarian drive. Also on the 20th the Sagittarius
Moon is challenged by Neptune, stimulated by Mars, and finds support from
Uranus, which begins with bringing our dreams into the day's vibration, then
later brings the desire to work independently from others, with having the
impulse to engage in activities that make us feel more alive.
The
21st is 6
– Oc "awk" or Dog: being in the flow through enjoying family and friends, while the Sun enters into Capricorn bringing us the Solstice, Winter in the North and Summer in
the South. Solstice and Equinox charts have long been used as predictors of the
coming season. In the north this begins a time of turning inward during the
winter, and to evaluate the growth and manifestations that were planted during
the spring equinox in March. In the south this is a time of cultivating the
intension planted during the spring equinox in September. When considering the
Solstice chart, I look at the dominant alignments, which the Uranus Pluto
square is very strong but we've discussed it at length as being the force for
transformation through rebellion. On the solstice the Moon is applying towards
the conjunction to the Sun in Capricorn with new moon occurring two and a half
hours after the Solstice. Mercury in harmony with Neptune in the chart is
imaginative, dreamy, and spiritual, which implies that spiritual and creative
pursuits will be helpful during the upcoming season. Venus squaring Uranus and
merging with Pluto, could bring challenges over the next three months related
to financial and aesthetic themes, with unpredictable and transformative
results with the final Uranus Pluto square days before the Equinox. Mars
stimulated by Uranus in mutual reception in the Solstice chart will bring more
world events of aggressive revolt, even if the media does not cover what we all
know is occurring. Overall the next few months have opportunities for business
and challenges at home, and potentially aggressive rebellion in the streets. Also on the 21st Uranus turns direct
after being retrograde since July, which brings us into a time of awakening. In
concert with the Solstice and Capricorn New Moon. With Uranus moving forward at
12 degrees Aries, we slowly realize the powerful energetic that stimulates us
to live our lives more authentically. This adds more weight to the seeking
freedom side of the equation. Also on the 21st The Capricorn New Moon at 0 degrees 6 minutes on the
21st, supported by Jupiter, merging with the Sun, and in harmony with Neptune.
Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, this new moon represents new beginnings related
to work, commitments, discipline, elders, which might begin as a limitation or
obstacle that must be overcome or at least bypassed, so that the new energy can
precede. This lunation trine
Jupiter brings people a pleasant sense of wellbeing and feelings of inner and
outer equanimity, and the sextile to Neptune influences us with greater
sensitivity to others' emotions with possible psychic impressions for those who
are open.
New Moons bring the opportunity to set an intension for manifestation on the
following full moon. Look to the house of your astrology chart that contains 0
degrees 6 minutes of Capricorn to consider what area of your life is being
activated by this new moon. For me that would be my 7th house of Partnership
and Marriage, but also any one to one relationship, so I would set an intension
related to using this energy, such as finding new ways to relate to the folks
with which I have a one to one relationship, whether romantic or business through
making a deeper commitment or overcoming some limitation. Pluto also in
Capricorn brings in
transformational elements into the new moon, so there is a transformative
purpose aligned with the new opportunities that are opening up. This New Moon is particularly potent for making big changes
through taking a leap of faith, during this numerological One month of new
beginnings, leading us into 2015. Certainly releasing outdated limitations,
like removing your mask at the masquerade new year's party, to reveal a greater
awareness of our authentic true self, our new direction, and purpose.
December 22nd is
7
– Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey:
reflection through creating
something new, with the Capricorn Moon in harmony with Neptune, merging with
Mercury, Pluto, and Venus, and challenged by Uranus, which brings a busy day of
emotional energy that starts with being very sensitive to the
moods of others, then shifts to having positive energy for integrating our
thoughts and moods, then later people are likely to act hasty and jump to
conclusions, while we have more intense moods rising to the surface from deep
in our psyches, and finally feels cheerful, warm, gregarious, and wants to go
out and socialize.
The 23rd is 8 Eb "eb" or Road : balance through serving your community, while Saturn enters Sagittarius,
which delays success until perseverance and patience are learned. Sagittarius
themes are travel, education, adventure, expanding our horizons, and planning
for upcoming festivities. Ruled by Jupiter, represents faith, confidence and
abundance. Sagittarius resists responsibility and confinement, seeking to
remain free. This brings more focus on discovering new ideas, philosophy, being
at the right place at the right time and overall a quality of optimism. Saturn
brings the details to the grand overview of Sagittarius. The proverb “He who travels slowly, travels far and gets there safely” is a great
description of Saturn in Sagittarius. Sag rules higher education and Saturn
brings hardship, so folks may find they are educated at the "school of
hard knocks." With Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn moving out of mutual
reception, we a likely to see more limitations on travel particularly to places
where Ebola is present, as Pluto rules plagues. Saturn in Scorpio has slowed
the decay and collapse of governments, banks, and corporations (Pluto in
Capricorn), moving into Sagittarius means that the mutual reception no longer
protects those entities. Saturn will eventually square Neptune in Pisces which
will further dissolve structures and rules. You might want to recall what was
going on in your life from November 1985 to February 1988, when Saturn was last
in Sagittarius
to consider how this shift might affect you
over the next few years. Also on the 23rd the Aquarius
Moon harmonizes with Saturn which brings realistic expectations through being
calm and reflective.
December 24th
is 9
- Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: patience
experienced through maintaining
the home, with Mercury in Capricorn challenged by Uranus in Aries which is a stressful alignment that
pits the traditional thinking against rebellious new views on the 24th. Since
the outer planets tend to have more power, I believe that any rigid
conservative ideas will be attacked, and transformed or released to make way
for more innovative concepts. This could also be a time of increased protests
with potential recklessness and violence. Personally, this can be quite
stimulating bringing fascination for new phenomenon. Flexibility is the key
with this transit, because the more rigid our thinking the more nerve wracking
the effect. Expect the unexpected, surprises and upsets, and you will have the
best chance to go with the flow, which may mean that plans for the day do not
work out as expected. Epiphanies are more likely, so you may want to capture
your genius thoughts in some form of record keeping, to reexamine in the days
that follow. The pace is fast which can lead to sloppiness. A day to be careful
of making sudden unexpected moves as accidents are more likely under this
influence. Also on the 24th the Moon in Aquarius is
stimulated by Uranus and merges with Mars which moves from pleasant yet
restless energy that desires emotional excitement, to later experiencing
irritable moods and critical communications.
The
25th is 10
- Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: manifestation through enjoying nature, with Mercury conjunct Pluto,
which intensifies mental activity and a
penetrating quality to communications along with having a critical eye for what
needs to be transformed in our environment. This could be challenging for folks
celebrating the holidays, with increasing intensity. On a mental level there is
a penetrating quality to go deep in discovering the "truth" in which
superficiality does not cut it. This also indicates a capacity to influence
others, and to speak with a persuasive voice. People will present opinions as
facts, believing they are right and the others is wrong. Be careful of who you
engage with under this transit, as many with make statements with no regard for
the feelings of the listener, which they may interpret as threatening. This can
also bring more acute powers for penetrating analysis of human nature, which is
best not shared without an invitation to do so. Let's not forget that this
transit is effecting everyone so we are as likely to be the recipient of these
behaviors from others, as well as being the perpetrator. Probably the best use
of this transit is to get preoccupied with a project or idea that you work on
independently from others and you wait until another day to share. Also on the 25th
the Moon is opposed by Jupiter and challenged by Saturn which shifts from feelings
of generosity, to later people feeling lonely
or isolated.
December 26th is 11 - Men "men" or Eagle: resolution through seeing from a higher perspective,
with
the Capricorn Sun harmonizing
with Neptune which brings
a pleasant flow between our conscious world and our spiritual world through
intuition, imagination, meditation, and creativity. This also brings
sensitivity to the energies of people and circumstances in your environment. We
are more compassionate to the needs of others and also more willing to help
them than usual. Neptune lowers the ego demands of Sun, which allows us to be
more open to the expressions of others. Service brings satisfaction under this
transit. Spiritual and mystical aspects of life grab more of our attention
during this period. Great energy to take space out of your normal routine to
meditate or spend time in nature. This transit tends to lower energy, so this
is not a good day to start some herculean new project. Do something that
improves your spiritual wellbeing. This is the like the energy that transformed
Ebenezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol." Also
on the 26th the Pisces Moon harmonizes with the Sun and Pluto, and
merges with Neptune, which begins with feeling balance between our inner and
outer worlds, then later feelings of empathy for those around us, including the
possibility of clairvoyance and telepathic experiences for those of us who are
sensitive by nature, and finally having deep emotions finding their way to the
surface and felt on a profound level.
The 27th is 12 - Cib "keeb"
or Wisdom: understanding
through introspection, meditation and
forgiveness, while the Moon in Pisces is in harmony with Mercury and Venus,
which shifts from lots of chatting with friends, neighbors,
coworkers, to later having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones.
December 28 is 13 - Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: movement to the
next stage through gratitude
for Mother Earth, with the first quarter Aries Moon finds support from Saturn,
is challenged b the Sun, and merges with Uranus, with the day beginning with having
a sober realistic view of life, then later we encounter challenges to our daily
routines, and finally people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with moods changing
quickly and unexpectedly.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Serpent trecena,
take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a
sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment
through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is
a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the
performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe
the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a
human experience.
