This is the "Care and feeding
of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of April 23rd 2016
and 1 – Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Mercury turning retrograde, and Venus entering Taurus.
April 23rd is 1
– Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm carries the themes of rain, wind,
lightning, giver of life, the cycles of the moon, the feminine, the warmth of
home while inclement weather rages outside, purification,
nourishment, compassion, emotions, seeing challenges as blessings, healing
through the release of ego, clouds pregnant with rain followed by a flash of
lightning and the release of the storm that cleanses the earth to prepare for
new consciousness. This thirteen day period would be an important time to focus
on what is truly important in life and hold loosely those things that are a
distraction to your essence. Allow the waters of the storm trecena to wash away
the false pride and rigid thinking to create fertile ground for the growth of
your integrated and authentic self.
Since we begin a new Gregorian month during
this trecena, I thought I'd discuss the metaphysics of the upcoming month. May is the fifth month and with the digits for 2016, when
added together we get 14, then we add 1 + 4 to tell us that this is a fourteen/five
month in numerology.
Basic numerology reduces numbers to one through nine, so when we think about
that arc the 5 represents a time of major shifts and breakthroughs as the 5
represents the peak of the numerological cycle such as reaching the top of the
mountain and having a view of the upcoming descent down the other side of the 9
month cycle. Jupiter turns direct on the 9th which brings us opportunities that
are the result of our review of how we are of service and how we have been
organized over the past four months. Mercury turns direct on the 22nd supports
the implementation of a new direction based on the information and experiences
we were exposed to in April. A five month brings new opportunities, options,
and choices through our creativity. The fourteen/five combination are
represented by the Art/Temperance and the Hierophant in the Tarot cards, which
is about integration of opposites to discover the ground that transcends them
both, which we bring forth as teachers, who learn from what we share and the
experience of those who honor us by implementing our guidance in their lives.
This Ken Wilbur quote from No Boundaries provides a description of the
Art/Temperance archetype, "The point is...to unify and harmonizes
opposites both positive and negative, by discovering the ground that transcends
them both." From the Course in Miracles comes this quote for the
Hierophant, "'As you teach so will you learn.' If that is true, and it is
true indeed, don't forget that what you teach is teaching you." So this
May represents a breakthrough on many levels including integrating opposites
and learning through teaching.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm,
on the 23rd all the planets appear to be moving forward from our vantage point
on Earth, except Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto which appear to move retrograde or in reverse
motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are the review the past,
re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being played out. Mars representing drive and aggression, is in Sagittarius.
Mars will
retrograde back into Scorpio, the sign of its traditional rulership on May
27th. Retrograde Mars in Sagittarius has
us reviewing our drives related to our beliefs, and in Scorpio the ethics of
our actions are reviewed. Retrograde Mars can cause frustration as our energy
to get things done is retarded, which can lead to irritability and aggression. Jupiter was the king of the gods, and the planet is
about good fortune, opportunities, faith, religion, beliefs and expansion.
Jupiter is in Virgo and Virgo is about organization, health, and service. Mostly
what I find with Jupiter retrograde, as with any retrograde cycle there is a
review of the past, and with Jupiter what gets reviewed are missed
opportunities. Retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius
delays success until perseverance and patience are learned. Sagittarius themes
are travel, education, adventure, expanding our horizons, and planning for
upcoming experiences. Saturn brings the details to the grand overview of
Sagittarius. Saturn retrograde is a task master
that demands we take responsibility to review our beliefs while in Sagittarius. Pluto the planet of transformation through a death and
rebirth cycle, is retrograde, which is about reviewing the past, and is a time
of releasing anything from the past that is a burden to our new path. Pluto
represents death, completion, and in Capricorn, the breakdown of structures, to
bring about transformation.
The big change in the Storm trecena is Mercury changing
directions, as it moves retrograde on the 28th and direct on May 22nd, so the
end of the month would be a good time to avoid signing contracts or other legal
papers, making any major purchases, or even taking a new job. If you can
postpone these types of activities the terms will be much clearer after Mercury
is moving direct. That may seem impossible, so if you can avoid these activities
a few days before and after Mercury changing directions on the 28th and May 22nd,
when the energy is at its most potent, would be beneficial. Mercury retrogrades
force us to slow down and pay more attention to our lives by making us focus on
the details of our daily experience. When looking at a retrograde cycle of any
of the personal or inner planets, it provides information about a correction to
our present course. During this report period we have Mercury traveling through
the first stage of the retrograde process since 4/14.
There are two important points to be aware of in looking at the cycle. We look
at the point where the planet appears to move backwards
and the point where it appears to move forward again.
The first stage represents the shadow time between passing 14 degrees Taurus,
the point where the planet will eventually begin moving forward again and the
point where the planet slows, stops, and begins moving in reverse, 23 degrees Taurus.
During the first stage we receive information about needing to adjust our
direction. The second stage is the actual retrograde
phase and is a time to watch the events that occur related to the information
received in the 1st stage. The 3rd stage begins
when the planet is moving forward again until crossing the line where it
originally turned retrograde. During the 3rd stage we move forward with a
revision to our previous course. We entered the 1st stage for Mercury on April
14th, so from then until the 28th, we receive information about an adjustment
that needs to be made in our lives. Mercury is
retrograde from 4/28 at 23 Taurus until 5/22 at 14 Taurus which will be
the time when we will notice events that shift our thinking, and from May 22nd
to June 8th, we are in the 3rd stage where we
implement the change in direction from the awareness gained through
experiencing this process.
If you look at the house
of your astrological chart that contains 14 to 23 degrees of Taurus, you can
find the theme where you will experience revisions, reviews and rethinking of
the characteristics represented by that house. For me it is the twelfth house
of secrets, sorrows and self-undoing, the House of Karma, so I expect this
cycle to provide new information about completions to prepare for new
beginnings. No matter where the Mercury retrograde occurs in your chart, this
often leads to changing choices, goals, and directions. In the world, look for
the themes of completion through intellectual review of the past particularly
related to communications about topics like dependability, security, wealth,
love, stubbornness, patience, and being practical when Mercury moves through
Taurus. In
Taurus Mercury slows down communication and stabilizes thinking to be more
practical and constructive. All the remaining Mercury retrogrades in 2016 will be
in earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, and finally Capricorn.
At the end of April, Mercury slows down and turns retrograde at 23 degrees
Taurus on the 28th. When a planet slows down to a stop from our perspective here
on earth, that planet is considered to be at the peak of its power and Mercury
being at the peak of its power reminds me that the Greek god Hermes, who the
Romans renamed to Mercury, was also the trickster god. He was the messenger of the Gods and if you weren't on his
good side you might not get your message or it might be altered to mean
something different than was intended. In
mythology the trickster is a god,
goddess, woman, man, animal or spirit that creates mischief by playing tricks
and acting outside of the accepted rules of their community. Joseph Campbell
expressed that "Almost all non-literate mythology has a trickster-hero of
some kind. . . . And there’s a very special property in the trickster: he always
breaks in, just as the unconscious does, to trip up the rational situation.
He’s both a fool and someone who’s beyond the system. And the trickster
represents all those possibilities of life that your mind hasn’t decided it
wants to deal with. The mind structures a lifestyle, and the fool or trickster
represents another whole range of possibilities. He doesn’t respect the values
that you’ve set up for yourself, and smashes them. . . . The fool is the
breakthrough of the absolute into the field of controlled social orders."
And that is a great description for Mercury retrograde. It also contains a
formula for confronting a much more powerful foe. Being cunning over fighting
on their terms.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
April 23rd 2016 is 1 – Cauac
"cow-ack" or Storm: unity
experienced through recognizing the gifts in adversity in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Scorpion Moon the
harmony with Pluto and opposed by Mercury bring the environmental emotional
energy that changes from having deep emotions finding their way to the surface and felt on
a profound level, to later some feeling a real conflict between feelings and
reason and others having fruitful expressions of their deeper awareness either
internally or with another.
The
24th is
2 – : duality
experienced through "ah-how" honoring the wisdom and memory of
our ancestors, while the Sagittarius Moon makes no
angles, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use
for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences.
April 25th is 3 – Imix
"e-meesh" or Crocodile: taking action through nurturing new beginnings, while the Moon in Sagittarius
merges with Mars and Saturn, and is challenged by Neptune and Jupiter,
activating the Mutable T-Square with the energy moving from experiencing irritable moods and critical communications,
to later daydreams and fantasies feeling more
important than reality, followed by benevolent
and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, and
finally wanting to be alone in our thoughts and
feelings.
The 26th
is 4 – Ik
"eek" or Wind: stability through
communication, while the Sagittarius Moon finds support from Uranus and Venus
which shifts from having the impulse to engage in
activities that make us feel more alive, to later enjoying pleasant feelings and social interactions.
April 27th is 5 – Akbal "awk-bol" or Night:
empowerment through contemplating the stars, with the
Capricorn Moon supported by the Sun and Jupiter, and in harmony with Neptune
which changes from feeling a sense of inner harmony
which is mirrored in the outside world, to later having a greater sensitivity to others' emotions with possible
psychic impressions for those who are open, and finally people having a pleasant sense of well-being.
The 28th is 6 – Kan "con" or Seed or Lizard: being in the flow through planting seeds and making new connections, while Mercury turns retrograde at 23 degrees Taurus.
Even folks who don't follow astrology are aware of Mercury's retrograde effect
on communication, technology and travel. This begins a time that shifts our
review of information below the surface, with a focus on Mercury in Taurus slows down communication and stabilizes thinking to
be more practical and constructive. From the 28th to May 22nd would be a good
time to avoid signing contracts or other legal papers, making any major
purchases, or even taking a new job. If you can postpone these types of
activities the terms will be much clearer after Mercury is moving direct. The
retrograde cycle provides information about a change or correction in our
cosmic course. In the context of the retrograde
cycle I think of Mercury retracing it's steps back in Taurus to gather
information that will be needed to support the tasks and projects that move
forward during the peak numerological five month of May when Mercury turns
direct. Also on the 28th the Moon in Capricorn merges with Pluto, is challenged
Uranus, and finds support from Mercury, which moves from having more intense moods rising to the surface from deep in our
psyches, followed by folks acting hasty and
jumping to conclusions that may not be correct, and finally being more in touch with our feelings and able to share
them with others.
April 29th is 7 Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent: reflection through
being flexible, with the last Quarter Moon challenged by Venus and the Sun, and
in harmony Mars, which shifts from having pleasant
energy for being with the others we want to know better, to later stimulating the desire to work independently from others,
and finally we encounter challenges to our daily
routines.
The
30th is 8 – Cimi
"key-mee" or Transformation: balance through releasing what no longer serves us, while Venus enters Taurus which is beneficial because Taurus is more affectionate and
sensual than Aries and is one of the signs Venus rules. Being an earth sign
there is the realization about the damage a bad relationship can bring, so
there is also a caution about entering into love too quickly. This could be a
passionate energy that wants to please the significant other or lover. This is
also about enjoying the arts and music along with fine food that nourishes body
and soul over the next 3 plus weeks. The shift of Venus from Aries to Taurus
favors comfort with soothing calm social interactions. Also on the 30th the Aquarius
Moon harmonizes with Saturn and Uranus, and is challenged by Mercury, which
changes from realistic expectations through being
calm and reflective, followed by pleasant yet
restless feelings craving emotional excitement to do something outside the
daily routine, and finally has folks being
critical in their communications particularly with the people they have
intimate relationships with.
May 1st is 9 – man-eek" : patience
experienced through being of service to others, with the Sun sextiles Neptune
which lowers the demands of our egos allowing us to sense other people's energy
and circumstances and makes us more willing to help out. This could be positive
for fund raising for a charitable organization. This also encourages spiritual
and mystical knowledge and experiences through spending time alone in a
meditative state, particularly given that energy for physical activities will
be lowered. Also on the 1st the Pisces Moon harmonizes the Venus, and is
challenged by Mars which moves from wanting to be
with friends and the people we love, to later people
feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes.
The 2nd is 10 – Lamat
"la-maught" or Star or Rabbit: manifestation
through being grateful for abundant
relationships, with
Mercury sextile Chiron brings understanding to and communication about our
healing processes. Also on the 2nd the Moon in Pisces
merges with Neptune, harmonizes with the Sun and
Pluto, is opposed by Jupiter, and challenged by Saturn, which brings a busy
emotional day which shifts from feelings of empathy for those around us,
including the possibility of clairvoyance and telepathic experiences for those
of us who are sensitive by nature, to feelings of inner and outer equanimity, followed
by feelings of generosity, and later people feeling lonely or isolated, and
finally experiencing deep emotions on a profound level.
May
3rd is 11 – Muluc "moo-luke"
or Offering: resolution through appreciating creation, while the Sun trines Jupiter,
which is one of the most positive transits
bringing enthusiasm and optimism, it can have the effect of people feeling
lazy, but I would encourage folks to use this energy to accomplish something
good for yourself. This is a day to project positive energy into the
environment that can have some influence on your affairs and accomplishing
something you desire. Some will see this as "dumb luck", but this
transit has its roots in something that was done in the recent past. This is
great energy for making changes in your life without feeling a sense of loss.
This is also good for studying something of interest to you, particularly
subjects that help us to see the world as a whole. Also on the 3rd the Moon in
Pisces harmonizes with Mercury which has people feeling chatty and
having numerous conversations.
The 4th is 12
– Oc "awk" or Dog: understanding through enjoying family and friends,
while the Moon in Aries finds support from Mars and Saturn, and is challenged
by Pluto which changes from feeling
a little more confident than usual with the ability to assert ourselves in a
positive manner,
to later having a sober realistic
view of life,
and finally having the compulsion to
act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run.
May 5th is 13
– Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey:
movement to the next stage through
creating something new, with the Moon in Aries merging with Uranus which may
have people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with
moods changing quickly and unexpectedly.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Storm trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the
planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the
stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being
with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to
distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world
stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part.
Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
