This
is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian
date of February 19th and
1 – Oc "awk" or Dog in the
Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with Mars, followed by Venus entering Aries, and the
metaphysics of March.
February
19th for
1 – Oc "awk" or Dog which
carries the themes of loyalty,
playfulness, sensuality, team work, protection, generosity, warm-heartedness,
guidance, commitment, justice, fidelity, consistency, family and friends, and
the faithful companion during times of darkness.
William
and Viola of tzolkincalendar.com write "The Yucatec Mayan name for this
sign literally means door, portal or gateway and symbolizes the journey we all
make from one world to the other, not only in death but also as we transform
inwardly and rebirth ourselves. Thus Dog, as our Underworld companion and guide
through darkness, represents faith and loyalty surviving even after
death." I found that dogs seem to be associated with the afterlife across
cultures where the dead were buried. I think that might be because they were
scavengers who would dig up graves and when they consumed the corpse they were
considered to ingest the soul as well as the flesh of the dead. Anubis was the
jackal-headed god of the afterlife in ancient Greece, also portrayed as a black
dog. The Greeks and Romans associated Anubis with star Sirius, the brightest
star in the sky, known in most mythologies throughout the world as the 'Dog Star'.
Cerberus is the three-headed dog who guards the gates of Hades by allowing
people to enter but not leave. The three heads may represent the past, present
and future, or youth, adulthood, and old age. In ancient Irish mythology
references to dogs are numerous which means they were an important symbol to
Celts. The dogs were also magical and could heal people by licking their
wounds. In Norse mythology the world of the dead is overseen by a monstrous
dog, named Garm. In Hinduism and Buddhism there are two dogs, with four eyes
each, which accompany Yama, the lord of the dead. They served Yama by looking
out for those who are about to die. In Aztec mythology, the departed soul
descends to the underworld after death and comes to a river guarded by a yellow
dog. Guardian hounds occur widely in shamanic Otherworldly lore. Archaeological
evidence and mythology has recurring examples of dogs in the role of
'psycopomps', the guides on the paths to the Otherworld, which is the role they
play in Mayan mythology as guides who bare torches to assist humans in their
descent into the dark underworld. This Dog trecena or 13 day period is a great
time to use faith and courage to illuminate any dark areas in our lives and
share our warmhearted guidance to assist others through the door that leads to
the light.
Since we begin a new Gregorian month during
this trecena, I thought I'd discuss the metaphysics of the upcoming month.
March is the third month and with the digits for 2015, when added together we
get 11, then we add 1 + 1 to tell us that this is an eleven/two month in
numerology, which brings a spiritual quality to the month. Basic numerology
reduces numbers to one through nine, so when we think about that arc the 2
represents a time which brings increased contact with new people,
relationships, and cooperative connections, but also highlights the need for
balance. The eleven/two combination is
represented by the Lust/High Priestess tarot cards which is about being in our
strength and in our bodies while experiencing our intuition, independence,
self-trust, and self-resourcefulness. Richard Moss wrote in How Shall I Live:
"To me, wholeness is the key to aliveness. It is more than just a physical
vitality, it is radiance, coming from being at one with yourself and your
experience. Life then flows through you and radiates from you" which is a
nice description of the Strength/Lust energetic. The High Priestess could be
described from this quote from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, "For the self
is a sea boundless and measureless." So March is a month to be in our
bodies and radiance, that in turn empowers our sense of self, while we
cultivate new connections with others.
March also brings us our first eclipse of 2015 on the Equinox, Spring in
the North and Autumn in the South. The time between the Total Solar Eclipse on
the 20th and the third of the Tetrad of Total Lunar Eclipses on April 3rd, we
are experiencing circumstances that step up the action, with a sense that if we
don't launch ourselves in new directions we may be left behind. We begin the
month with the Sun and Neptune in Pisces, joined by Mercury on the 12th, while
Venus and Mars in Aires create tension with Pluto in Capricorn as the energy
builds toward the seventh and final Uranus Pluto square on March 16th.
Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Oc "awk" or Dog, on the 19th all the planets appear to be moving forward
from our vantage point on Earth, except Jupiter
which appears to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Remember the themes of
retrograde planets are the review the past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can
see these themes being played out. Jupiter
retrograde in Leo brings a review of opportunities, faith, religion, beliefs
and expansion. Leo is about leadership, creativity, drama, entertainment, and
children. Mostly what I find with Jupiter retrograde, as with any retrograde
cycle there is a review of the past, and with Jupiter what gets reviewed are
missed opportunities.
Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
February
19th for
1 – Oc "awk" or Dog: unity experienced
through enjoying family and friends, with Mars entering Aries which is the sign of its rulership,
and will transit until March 31st. This brings more energy to individual
pursuits, but becomes discontent having to follow other peoples orders. Folks
may become more courageous, honest and confident under the Aries Martian
influence, but also tactless, blunt, and combative. Venus follows Mars into
Aries on the 20th and merges with Mars on the 22nd, so
the time period between the 19th and the 23rd could bring
more intense interactions regarding our individual needs and the needs of our
relationships, which has potential for arguments but also an opportunity to
address issues left unaddressed until now. Also on the 19th Mercury sextiles Saturn which is great for
constructive criticism that comes from being able to see what can be improved
in our surrounding environment. We are very conscious of flaws, including our
own, so we can use our critical eye to change what should be changed to bring
improvement. This can be very serious in its pursuit of betterment, make sure
your honoring what is positive, so not to get overwhelmed by the many
imperfections that are in view with this transit. Older people may serve as
teachers and mentors at this time. This is nice energy for working carefully on
any mental task from a place of concentration and precision, whereas activities
that require a great scope of vision may be more difficult. This is about the
details, rather than the overall pattern. Difficulty seeing the forest for the
trees. With focus and concentration from Saturn influencing our minds and
communication, Mercury, this transit favors business dealings with practicality
and stability. Also on
the 19th the Moon in Pisces is challenged by Saturn, merges with Neptune, and
harmonizes with Pluto which begins with people feeling lonely or isolated, then shifts to feelings of empathy
for those around us, including the possibility of clairvoyance and telepathic
experiences for those of us who are sensitive by nature, and finally experiencing
deep emotions on a profound level.
The
20th is
2 - Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: duality experienced
through creating something new, with Venus entering Aries continuing to bring energy to
burst forward on a new path, this time it's about our relationships, bringing
new hope or a new lease on life, but also conflicts over individual needs and the
needs of the relationship as Venus is in its detriment in the sign opposite
Libra, which Venus rules.
Also on
the 20th the Aries Moon merges with Venus and Mars which shifts from which feeling cheerful, warm, gregarious, and
wanting to go out and socialize, to later experiencing irritable moods and
critical communications.
February
21st is 3 - Eb "eb" or Road
: taking action through serving your community, while the
Moon in Aries finds support from Saturn and Jupiter, harmonizes with Mercury,
merges with Uranus, and is challenged by Pluto. This is a very busy day with
the emotional influence moving from settling into a
more sober and realistic view of life, followed by lots of chatting with
friends, neighbors, or coworkers, then people feeling impulsive and acting
rashly, with moods changing quickly and unexpectedly, later having the
compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, and
finally having feelings of inner and outer equanimity.
The 22nd is
4
- Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: stability
through maintaining the home, when we have Venus merging with Mars which brings a strong desire
for physical passion and sexual experiences. People may be more aggressive in
finding partnership. This can also cause arguments with people of the opposite
sex. It certainly arouses our creative energy particularly if it has a physical
component to the activity, favoring sculpture over water color painting and
performing music or theater over writing songs or poetry. Also on the 22nd
the Moon in Aries makes no angles
and is void of course until moving into Taurus, which does not favor major
decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this
latest round of energy and experiences.
February 23rd is 5 - Ix
"eesh" or Jaguar: empowerment through enjoying
nature,
while the Sun
squares Saturn which has people feeling unlucky and brings up issues
that are difficult to handle but the effect doesn't last more than a few days.
It really brings up two questions. What do you owe others? and what do you owe
yourself? This is a conflict between self gratification and duty to others.
This tension between two poles may seem limiting and depressing, as we want to
break out of this rut, but find that the restrictions are holding us back from
being ourselves. Folks will not want to go to work or school or interact with
people they prefer not associate with. This can bring resentments as obstacles
interfere with our wishes to do what we want. Under this influence people make
assumptions without checking the facts, which is not favorable for
relationships with authority figures. The best use of this transit is to
channel the energy into self discipline. Often others are not holding us back,
but we are projecting our internal restraint outwards onto people in our
immediate environment. This is a low physical and psychological energy transit,
so you may feel the weight of the world is to heavy. It may also bring up
questions that we have been avoiding answering and negative thoughts. This
transit shows our vulnerabilities and weaknesses, and gives us an idea about
what we can work on to gain greater confidence.
Also on
the 23rd the Taurus Moon harmonizes with the Sun and Neptune, is challenged by Mercury
and Jupiter, and finds support from Pluto, which brings an emotionally changing
day that moves from feeling balance between
our inner and outer worlds, to being very sensitive to the moods of others,
followed by our moods influencing our ability to think rationally, then feeling
on a deeper more intense level under the influence of Pluto, and finally having
benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment.
The
24th is 6 - Men "men" or Eagle:
being in the flow through seeing from a
higher perspective,
with Venus trine
Saturn brings some reliability, stability
and a clearer perspective on our relationships. People will recognize their
loved one as human, and as long as we live up to our obligations they will
likely do the same. Venus is also about money so this may have folks being more
conservative with their limited resources. Relationships begun under this
transit tend to be stable and sobering, more practical than romantic. Also on the 24th
the Moon in Taurus makes no angles
and is void of course until moving into Gemini, which does not favor major
decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this
latest round of energy and experiences.
February 25th is 7 - Cib
"keeb" or Wisdom: reflection through introspection, meditation and forgiveness, with Mars trine Saturn, with
Saturn's support Mars finds patience and the willingness to do difficult and
precision work. This is a rare time when Mars' usual erratic and impulsive
energy can be focused and concentrated on a task that demands constant
attention, even if the job is not rewarding or glamorous. Also on the 25th
we have the Sun
conjunct Neptune which is about expanded consciousness, awareness of unseen
energies, intuition, and greater sensitivity are themes for the next month,
with the Sun transiting the sign of mysticism. When the Sun merges with
Neptune, there are two distinct sides of this transit, but being Neptune, it
will be difficult to grasp which one we are experiencing. The first is that our
awareness gets stimulated, which often brings difficulty thinking rationally.
It brings a heightened sensitivity and people will feel like they know each
other more intuitively. Which increases our compassion. It's as if our
separateness dissolves and we become them somehow. Which reminds me of the
Mayan saying "In Lak’ech" which means "I am another you".
Overall this energy is great for helping people. It also favors an interest in
the occult or spiritual activities in hopes of understanding the deeper truths
hidden behind the veil of the mundane world. The down side of this transit is
all that sensitivity may lead folks to feel psychologically exhausted, wanting
to avoid interactions in our daily world and instead engage our private inner
world, with the possibility of daydreaming on one end of the spectrum to
avoiding reality through alcohol and/or drug usage. Our bodies are more
sensitive during this transit so the effects of substances may be more
difficult to control. Meditation and quiet contemplation would be better
channels for this energetic. Also on the 25th the first quarter Gemini Moon
harmonizes with Mars and Venus, is opposed by Saturn, challenged by the Sun and
Neptune, and finds support from Mercury. A day that is very busy under the
emotional lunar influence moving from having the desire to work independently from others, while feeling
lonely and isolated, followed by wanting to be with friends and the people we
love, then encountering challenges to our daily routines, with daydreams and
fantasies feeling more important than reality, and finally being more in touch with our feelings and able
to share them with others.
The
26th is 8 Caban "kah-ban" or Earth:
balance through gratitude for Mother Earth, with
Moon in Gemini harmonizing with Uranus and Jupiter which shifts from having pleasant yet restless feelings craving emotional excitement
to do something outside the daily routine to later feeling in the flow and
having a sense of wholeness.
February 27th is 9 - Etznab
"etz-nob" or Flint: patience experienced through being introspective, with the Cancer Moon is challenged by Mars
and supported by Neptune which moves from people
feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes to later our innermost
subconscious fantasies and daydreams confusing reality, which may not be great
for accomplishing much work.
The 28th is 10 - Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm:
manifestation through recognizing the gifts in adversity,
while the Moon in Cancer is challenged by Venus and Uranus, finds support from
the Sun, and is opposed by Pluto, which begins with having
pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones, and feeling a sense of inner
harmony which is mirrored in the outside world, then later folks acting hasty
and jumping to conclusions that may not be correct, followed by deep emotions
rising to the surface.
March 1st is 11 -
"ah-how"
:
resolution through
honoring the wisdom and memory of
our ancestors, while
Mercury sextiles Uranus and opposes Jupiter. Mercury
sextile Uranus, which brings new discoveries and new people into our lives with an overall sense of excitement and innovation as
Mercury interacts with its higher octave planet Uranus. Flexibility is helpful
to experience this transit with its excitement and interest, if you find this
disruptive you may want to examine your attitude regarding deviating from the
preordained plan of the day. This is good for looking at old problems, that
have troubled you in the past, with fresh eyes. Challenges may be approached as
new puzzles to solve as thinking becomes more inspired. Not a day where you
will be content to follow your usual routine, so leave some room for
spontaneity with new ideas and experiences being the reward of going with the
flow. Mercury opposing Jupiter which expands information and communication, this also can
bring a day or two of good feelings and an optimistic outlook. With care this
can be helpful in contractual negotiations, planning meetings, discussions and
conferences. Because Jupiter is influencing Mercury, the caution is to be aware
of grandiose thinking, where the whole is much clearer than the parts. Read
details carefully with regard to the fine points, because we often lose
precision and clarity, so read the small print. Thoroughness lead to success.
In communicating with others, the influence of this transit my come off as
arrogance or cockiness, so it's important to be flexible and open to another's
point of view. Some will want to engage in debating today, just try not to take
any intellectual jousting too seriously. Plans made now, or previously and
executed now will be furthered by this transit, as long as we take the care to
make accurate and perceptive judgments. Also on the 1st the Moon in Cancer makes no angles and is void of course until
moving into Leo, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good
to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences.
The 2nd is 12
- Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile: understanding through nurturing new beginnings, with the Leo Moon is supported by
Saturn, Mars, Venus, and Uranus, and merges with Jupiter. This is a very busy
day with the emotional influence moving from having a
sober realistic view of life, then feeling a little more confident than usual
with the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner, followed by enjoying
pleasant feelings and social interactions, and finally having the impulse to
engage in activities that make us feel more alive, along with good feelings and
generosity towards others.
March
3rd is 13 - Ik "eek" or Wind:
movement to the next stage through
communication, with
retrograde Jupiter trine Uranus which brings the
desire for expression by doing something outside of the normal routine. Folks
will want to experience a new type of freedom and to discover aspects of living
that until now were unknown. The inner effect is to explore metaphysical and
philosophical matters for inner truth, and outwardly through some new activity.
People are more open to new ideas which may lead to diverting from the path
that has turned into a rut. This transit can bring a sudden surprise
opportunity or some sort of new chance that can be beneficial. Also on the 3rd
the Moon in Leo is opposed by Mercury which may have some feeling a real conflict between feelings
and reason and others having fruitful expressions of their deeper awareness
either internally or with another.
So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Dog trecena, take
some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a
sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment
through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is
a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the
performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe
the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a
human experience.
