Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for October 9th to October 21st 2016

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of October 9th 2016 and 1 – Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit or Venus in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Aries Full Moon, and Venus entering Sagittarius.

October 9th is 1 – Lamat "la-maught" carries the themes of abundance, playfulness, fertility, growth, ripeness, physical pleasure and spiritual inspiration, artistry, creation, joy and humor. One Star is also known as One Rabbit or One Venus. The glyph for Star is the planet Venus which is associated with death and rebirth as Venus disappears as the evening star and then reappears as the morning star. Venus is the Morning Star after the inferior conjunction (I.C.) when it is in front of the Sun and cannot be seen due to its close proximity to the Sun which lasts about 8 days and before the superior conjunction (S.C.) when Venus transits behind the Sun and is not visible for about 50 days. Venus is the Evening Star after the S.C. and before the I.C. Both the Morning star and Evening star phases lasts approximately 260 days and of course 260 days is exactly the length of a Tzolkin round and 1 - Star is the final trecena of the 260 day round, so the next "Care and Feeding" will celebrate a new round with 1 - Imix or Crocodile on October 22nd. I think it's interesting that modern Mayanologists have emphasized the Venus transit across the face of the sun in relation to Mayan cosmology, but the Dresden Codex which details precise knowledge of Venus' full cycle, makes no mention of the transit. This makes me wonder if this is a modern projection onto the Maya, because although the Venus transit which occurs twice every 243 years, during the I.C. is remarkable when viewed from the Earth, it is certainly a lesser energetic force compared to the S.C. when Venus is hidden behind the Sun and traveling in the same direction. After all, we westerners love pyrotechnics, but might have missed the boat regarding the actual energetic as it relates to the spiritual realm. This thirteen day period would be a time to be grateful for any abundance or harvest in our lives whether it be food or spiritual insight.

Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Lamat "la-maught" on the 9th all the planets appear to be moving forward from our vantage point on Earth, except Chiron, Uranus, and Neptune, which appears to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are the review the past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being played out. Chiron retrograde has us reviewing our wounds so that they can be released, by having the courage to open our hearts to any fear or pain associated with our past. If you find yourself recalling painful events or situations between now and when Chiron turns direct November 30th, it is advisable remain conscious while dealing with these uncomfortable feelings as they will reveal the path to healing and letting go of what no longer serves a purpose in our upcoming journey. Uranus in Aries retrograde, is seeking to shake our very foundation through the unexpected rebellion of the individual. Uranus in Aries will have people wanting to hurry the process of getting free. To push the river of revolution whether it be personal or political. Uranus in astrology forces us outside our comfort zone so we have to look for possibilities "outside the box." This is about unplanned experiences that disrupt our perceived and planned life path in order to move us forward in our spiritual evolution, individually and globally. Neptune retrograde is seeking transcendence through spiritual experiences. This will be a time to use spiritual practices to keep us grounded as we expand our intuition and consciousness. Both Neptune and Pisces, the sign it rules, tend to be dreamy, imaginative, difficult to nail down due to their qualities of illusion and illumination often without any way to know which is which. They represent compassion and co-dependence, selflessness and loss of self, higher purpose and substance abuse, in their inspiration to transcend the material plane and experience something beyond words and thoughts.

Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
October 9th is 1 – Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit or Venus: unity experienced through being grateful for abundant relationships in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, while the first quarter Moon in Capricorn is challenged by the Sun and Uranus, and harmonizes with Venus, which changes from having challenges to following a daily routine, followed by wanting to be with friends and the people we love, and finally folks acting hasty and jumping to conclusions that may not be correct.

The 10th is 2 – Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: duality experienced through appreciating creation, with the Aquarius Moon supported by Mercury and Jupiter which shifts from feeling in touch with our emotions and expressing them to others, to later people have a pleasant sense of well-being.

October 11th is 3 – Oc "awk" or Dog: taking action through enjoying family and friends, while Mercury conjuncts Jupiter has us looking at the larger issues in life. It helps our comprehension by seeing the bigger perspective and incorporating new information. This also brings more tolerance of the view points of others. This is a time of evaluating our hopes and dreams along with our overall plans for the future. This can be quite optimistic and particularly good for business and commercial transactions, contract negotiations, and dealings with the law, especially if we recognize that we get what we want by helping others fulfill their needs. Encouragement comes naturally during this transit. We are likely feel our communications are expensive not only in quantity but also in scopes of topics. Also on the 11th Mars sextiles Neptune bringing a time when the ego takes a back seat to seeing the world with greater sensitivity and heightened intuition. It brings a perspective when looking at friends and the folks we interact with, with greater compassion and the desire to help out. Great energy for activities like walking meditations, yoga or tai chi, or something that links physical activity with spiritual experiences and creative projects. Also on the 11th Venus trine Chiron will help heal the old wounds that we've become aware of from the interactions of the planet of love and money. We are likely to have healing conversations and relationships with others, helping address rough areas in relationships and increase our sense of self-worth. Also on the 11th the Moon in Aquarius Moon in harmony with Mercury has people feeling chatty and having numerous conversations.

The 12th is 4 Chuen "shoe-in" or Monkey: stability through creating something new, while the Moon in Aquarius makes no angles and is void of course until moving into Pisces, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences.

October 13th is 5 – Eb "eb" or Road: empowerment through serving your community, while Mercury squares Mars, has people feeling touchy and irritable, with almost any communication interpreted as a challenge. Hard to imagine that someone doesn't get set off by the implied attitude of this transit. People will feel the drive to defend their ideas, from a simple debate to and all out fight. This time it would be important to realize beliefs and thoughts can change and to not indentify our ego with them. This transit that indicates the potential to be involved in accidents. This particularly likely for someone who trying to suppress their anger. Also on the 13th the Pisces Moon merges with Neptune, harmonizes with Mars and Pluto, and is challenged by Saturn, which moves from having feelings of empathy for those around us, including the possibility of clairvoyance and telepathic experiences for those of us who are sensitive by nature, to later brings the desire to work independently from others, followed by people feeling lonely or isolated, and finally having deep emotions finding their way to the surface and felt on a profound level.

The 14th is 6 Ben "ben" or Reed or Corn: being in the flow through maintaining the home, with Mercury sextiles Saturn which is great for constructive criticism that comes from being able to see what can be improved in our surrounding environment. We are very conscious of flaws, including our own, so we can use our critical eye to what should be changed to bring improvement. This can be very serious in its pursuit of betterment, make sure your honoring what is positive, so not to get overwhelmed by the many imperfections that are in view with this transit. Older people may serve as teachers and mentors at this time. This is nice energy for working carefully on any mental task from a place of concentration and precision, whereas activities that require a great scope of vision may be more difficult. This is about the details, rather than the overall pattern. Difficulty seeing the forest for the trees. Also on the 14th the Moon finds support from Venus, and is opposed by Jupiter which changes from enjoying pleasant feelings and social interactions, to later people having feelings of generosity.

October 15th is 7 Ix "eesh" or Jaguar: reflection through enjoying nature, while the Sun opposes Uranus, which brings a day that is quite different from the norm. This could be experienced as restlessness in close relationships, through one or the other feeling impatient and unwilling to put up with something, which could lead to arguments. In business partnerships this may require a radical change due to some unexpected new information or situation. This will be a time of surprise or upset related to parts of yourself that have not received adequate expression in the past. This is a time to figure out what you want and later on figure out if it's practical. For those that do not find conscious expression of this energy, they may find they are more accident prone under this influence. Over all, the winds of change are blowing us in the direction we are now aware of, due to Pluto's deeper perspective. Also on the 15th Mercury squares Pluto which may have folks can be obsessing about some thought or idea, so it's important in conversations to be open to others' view points and not be forceful in getting others to agree with our beliefs. This may be a time where we experience one thought that dominates the day and leaves little room for anything else. This energy can easily provoke arguments over things that won't seem important in a few days. If you use this energy to explore your inner world, it can bring light to something that was hidden in the depths of our psyches. Great energy for studying subjects that deal with covert or hidden aspects, such as psychology, magic, or the occult, as well as meditation or yoga, to unveil other possibilities of human potential. Also on the 15th the Aries Moon challenged by Mars and Pluto, supported by Saturn, opposed by Mercury, and merging with Uranus which shifts from people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes, to having a sober realistic view of life, followed by some feeling a real conflict between feelings and reason and others having fruitful expressions of their deeper awareness either internally or with another, later having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, and finally people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with moods changing quickly and unexpectedly.

The 16th is 8 – Men "men" or Eagle: balance through seeing from a higher perspective, with the Aries Full moon opposed by the Sun, with no other major aspects to this lunation. Full moons are a time of tension as the Sun in Libra is about balancing needs of those we have relationships with and our own personal emotional needs as individuals, represented by the Moon in Aries. This is called the Full Hunter’s Moon, the Blood Moon, the Sanguine Moon, or the Full Harvest Moon by Native Americans as leaves fall from trees, the deer were fattened, fox could be seen in the fields gleaning fallen grain from the harvest, this was a time of storing meat for the long winter ahead. This moon was traditional celebrated as a feast day by Native American tribes and also in Western Europe.

October 17th is 9 – Cib "keeb" or Wisdom: patience experienced through introspection, meditation and forgiveness, while the Taurus Moon harmonizes with Neptune, and finds support from Mars and Pluto which moves from greater sensitivity to others' emotions with possible psychic impressions for those who are open, to later feeling a little more confident than usual with the ability to assert ourselves in a positive manner, and finally feeling on a deeper more intense level under the influence of Pluto.

The 18th is 10 – Caban "kah-ban" or Earth: manifestation through gratitude for Mother Earth, with Venus moves into Sagittarius which brings the spirit of adventure to our love affairs. First attractions may seem very romantic, but the happy wanderer is not sure about sacrificing freedom for the relationship. Anyway this is outgoing energy for social engagements, travel and spirited friendships. Venus is also about money, as well as romance and socializing, so until November 11th when Venus enters Capricorn, folks may feel as though money is more abundant with Venus in Sagittarius. Also on the 18th the Gemini Moon is opposed by Venus which brings pleasant energy for enjoying sensual experiences and rich food with a caution against overindulgence.

October 19th is 11 – Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint: resolution through being introspective, while Mars conjuncts Pluto which can bring a few days where we feel a surge of power and more awareness of our deeper darker desires, but also severe conflicts of ego that may lead to disruptive and potentially violent interactions. This connection between the traditional and modern rulers of Scorpio and an alignment between planet octaves. Mars representing our desires and personal will and Pluto is the transcendent will of the Universe and the empowerment of the authentic self. Mars merging with Pluto effects us for a few days before and after the 19th, which would be a good time to channel this energy into physical activities rather than allow it to build up as anxiety and irritability. Also on the 19th the Moon in Gemini is supported by Jupiter and Mercury, is challenged by Neptune, opposed by Saturn, and stimulated by Uranus which changes from feelings of inner and outer equanimity, to daydreams and fantasies feeling more important than reality, followed by feeling lonely and isolated, later being more in touch with our feelings and able to share them with others, and finally pleasant yet restless energy that desires emotional excitement.

The 20th is 12 – Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm: understanding through recognizing the gifts in adversity, with Mercury is opposed by Uranus which is another example of planet octaves with Mercury representing personal thought and communication along with short distance travel and Uranus representing long distance travel, and transpersonal thoughts and communication. There is tension in this opposition as people will think and speak hastily. They may impulsively say things they don’t mean. Important information may be overlooked as folks are too much in a hurry. This may leave them feeling scattered, nervous, and undisciplined. This could also be a time for "brainstorming" as people will feel mentally stimulated where they understand information much more quickly, whatever the experience, it will need to stand the "test of time" before we are clear. As with most transits involving Uranus, this favors new types of adventures and is repelled by the daily mundane routine. Also on the 20th the Gemini Moon finds support from the Sun which brings a sense of harmony within ourselves and supports any type of group activity and relationships with the opposite sex.

October 21st is 13 – Ahau "ah-how" or Sun: movement to the next stage through honoring the wisdom and memory of our ancestors, while the Cancer Moon is challenged by Jupiter, supported by Neptune, and opposed by Pluto and Mars which shifts from having benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, to later our innermost subconscious fantasies and daydreams confusing reality, which may not be great for accomplishing much work, followed by brings deep emotions rising to the surface, and finally opposed by Mars which influences people to be more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives.

So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Star trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
