Astrology and Mayan Tzolkin for June 1st to June 13th 2016

This is the "Care and feeding of a New World Age" report for Gregorian date of June 1st 2016 and 1 – Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Gemini New Moon, Mercury entering Gemini, and Neptune turning retrograde.

June 1st is 1 – Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint carries the themes of introspection and reflection, sparks of insight, the self-sacrificing healer, the spiritual warrior, the knife that can be used to heal or harm, duality… right or wrong, good or evil, fear or faith, east or west, feasting or fasting, woman or man, us or them, leaders or followers, left or right mindedness. It reminds me of the story of Chiron, the wounded healer, giving up his immortality so that Prometheus could be freed from his eternal bondage of being chained to a rock and having an eagle devour his liver by day and then having it regenerated by night, which was his punishment for bringing fire to humans. The spark that comes from flint. Flint makes us aware of the illusion of our separateness so we can transcend duality. To realize our minds tell us we are this and that, and our hearts tell us that we just are. Boundaries are a construct of the mind… In Lak’ech... I am another you!

Since we begin a new Gregorian month during this trecena, I thought I'd discuss the metaphysics of the upcoming month. June is the sixth month and with the digits for 2016, when added together we get 15, then we add 1 + 5 to tell us that this is a fifteen/six month in numerology. Basic numerology reduces numbers to one through nine, so when we think about that arc the six represents a time of review after gaining insights during the five month. It's about finding balance, by sorting out to determine what we want to keep, and what has fulfilled its purpose and can be released. These qualities are shared by the sign of Virgo, which is the current placement of Jupiter. The six month wants resolutions and harmony. The fifteen/six combination is represented by the Devil and the Lovers in the Tarot cards, which is about facing our bedevilments or problems with tenacity and humor to hone ourselves in relationship to the other. This quote from Bennett W. Goodspeed represents the Devil archetype, "The difference between a comedy and a tragedy, is that in a comedy the characters figure out reality in time to do something about it." This offering from Anais Nin is helpful in understanding the Lovers, "The value of the personal relationship to all things is that it creates intimacy, and intimacy creates understanding, and understanding creates love." These themes are also played out in the planets, as Neptune, unconditional love, and Chiron, healing, slow to turn retrograde during June. So June represents a new series of events and a shift in a new direction on many levels including facing our inner shadow and sharing our light with others.

Before I get into the daily energy for 1 – Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint, on the 1st all the planets appear to be moving forward from our vantage point on Earth, except Mars, Saturn and Pluto which appears to move retrograde or in reverse motion. Remember the themes of retrograde planets are the review the past, re-evaluate, reminisce and we can see these themes being played out. Mars representing drive and aggression, began its retrograde in Sagittarius. Mars then backed into Scorpio, the sign of its traditional rulership on May 27th. While Mars is retrograde in Scorpio the ethics of our actions are reviewed. Retrograde Mars can cause frustration as our energy to get things done is retarded, which can lead to irritability and aggression. Retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius delays success until perseverance and patience are learned. Sagittarius themes are travel, education, adventure, expanding our horizons, and planning for upcoming experiences. Saturn brings the details to the grand overview of Sagittarius. Saturn retrograde is a task master that demands we take responsibility to review our beliefs while in Sagittarius. Pluto the planet of transformation through a death and rebirth cycle, is retrograde, which is about reviewing the past, and is a time of releasing anything from the past that is a burden to our new path. Pluto represents death, completion, and in Capricorn, the breakdown of structures, to bring about transformation.

The big change in the Flint trecena is Neptune in Pisces is slowing to a stop as it prepares to turn retrograde on June 13th. When a planet is stopped it is said to be at the peak of its power, so Neptune at the peak of its power, in its own sign of Pisces, during most of June is seeking transcendence through spiritual experiences. This will be a time to use spiritual practices to keep us grounded as we expand our intuition and consciousness. Both Neptune and Pisces, the sign it rules, tend to be dreamy, imaginative, difficult to nail down due to their qualities of illusion and illumination often without any way to know which is which. They represent compassion and co-dependence, selflessness and loss of self, higher purpose and substance abuse, in their inspiration to transcend the material plane and experience something beyond words and thoughts. Neptune will be in Pisces from 2011 to 2026.

Being an outer planet Neptune is retrograde almost half the year, turning Direct November 19th of 2016. Retrogrades bring a review of the past and turn our perspective inward regarding the themes they rule. So during the next 5 months Neptune retrograde in Pisces has us moving deeper into our spiritual life or our avoiding such experiences. I think it's important to keep up our foundation in the realm of spirit, as we experienced Saturn square Neptune at the end of 2015 and will throughout 2016, peaking in June. Saturn represents structures, limitation, boundaries, foundation, oppression, reality, the status quo... and then challenged by Neptune which dissolves, fogs, casts a veil that obscures. We are moving toward a time of dissolving structures, unclear foundations, limitations that seem obscured and perhaps no longer present, but may be lurking like a rock just below the waves as your boat tries to navigate in the fog. This could also be dreams (Neptune) becoming real (Saturn) through hard work and inspiration. This could be borders between countries (Saturn) disappearing (Neptune), or becoming blurred. Laws and responsibility (Saturn) become unclear and without compassion for all (Neptune). Infrastructures collapse. So using the Neptune retrograde to return to your spiritual roots will be important energy to nurture as we are in the middle of almost have two years of the challenging Saturn square Neptune, dissolving the foundations of what we’ve come to believe is solid. So finding our own peace in our connection to spirit will be an important quality to cultivate now for the tumultuous road ahead.

Ok let's look at the daily vibrational energy for this trecena.
June 1st is 1 – Etznab "etz-nob" or Flint: unity experienced through being introspective in the Mayan Tzolkin calendar, with the Sun square Neptune, which brings a low energy day which seems to take more energy to complete the normal daily tasks. If possible this would be a day have a lighter schedule and more time for rest. Some will feel a little beaten down by this transit, so this is not a good day for work that requires courage or great self confidence. Don't get discouraged, this energy only lasts a day. Also on the 1st the Aries Moon is challenged by Pluto and merges with Uranus, which changes the days emotional energy from having the compulsion to act in ways that may not be good for us in the long run, to later people feeling impulsive and acting rashly, with moods changing quickly and unexpectedly.

The 2nd is 2 – Cauac "cow-ack" or Storm: duality experienced through recognizing the gifts in adversity, with the Taurus Moon in harmony with Neptune and supported by Jupiter which shifts from having greater sensitivity to others' emotions with possible psychic impressions for those who are open, to later people having a pleasant sense of well-being.

June 3rd is 3Ahau "ah-how" or Sun: taking action through honoring the wisdom and memory of our ancestors, while Venus squares Neptune which is an alignment between planet octaves. Venus representing personal love and Neptune representing unconditional and universal love. The romantic imagination is active under this transit, which can lead to unrealistic expectations regarding loved ones. Please remember your partner is a mere mortal, by not holding them to an impossible romantic ideal that no one could or should try to attain. Relationships that are damaged by this transit are not usually based on reality. This is positive for daydreaming that leads to artistic expression. Overall we are likely to feel an expansion in compassion and empathy which benefits activities like meditation, music and art which may seem transcendent, but not such a great day for business on the material plane. Also on the 3rd the Sun opposes Saturn which makes us conscious of limitations in our lives, that have been imposed by others or circumstances. Just knowing that this energy is effecting us is helpful, also knowing that it only lasts a day. This may also be a difficult day for communication, just don't let it drag you down or overwhelm you. This day is about trying to find a way to balance our needs with our obligations. People may not feel effective psychologically, which may make communications more difficult, as folks feel a conflict between the needs of others and self-expression, so it is important to find a balance between your needs and your obligations. Neither is meant to win over the other. If our obligations wins over our self expression, we will feel restless and unfulfilled, but if we ignore our duties to do only as we choose, we will experience conflicts with others. Compromise is the best avenue for the 3rd. This can also affect us psychologically with feelings of isolation and loneliness. Also on the 3rd Venus opposes Saturn which can bring a sense of conflict between our duties and discipline, and our desire for socializing and enjoying friendships. Somehow even if we can get away from our obligations, we can't fully enjoy ourselves. Saturn can be cold, leaving us feeling lonely even in the presence of those we love and enjoy. Don't take these feelings too seriously, this is a short term transit, and only effects us for a few days. Relationships will make us aware of aspects of ourselves that we prefer not face. Also on the 3rd the Moon in Taurus finds support from Pluto, merges with Mercury, and is opposed by Mars, which moves from feeling on a deeper more intense level, followed by positive energy for integrating our thoughts and moods, and finally opposed by Mars which influences people to be more excitable and irritable which can cause problems in our personal lives.

The 4th is 4 – Imix "e-meesh" or Crocodile: stability through nurturing new beginnings, with the Gemini New Moon. New moons are times of new beginnings and in Gemini is about shifting and changing our thinking and communications. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, which turned direct last week, the new moon brings a push to implement the course change we became aware of during the retrograde period with new ideas, new perspective, and new information beckoning us to learn about ourselves and our environment. New Moons bring the opportunity to set an intention for manifestation on the following full moon. Look to the house of your astrology chart that contains 14 degrees 53 minutes Gemini, almost 15 degrees, to consider what area of your life is being activated by this new moon. For me that would be my twelfth house of secrets, sorrows, and self undoing, but is also the most mystical of all the houses and is linked to psychic powers, so I would set an intention related to using this energy spiritually. The Moon is tightly conjunct to Venus, separated by 0 degrees 29 minutes. It is also challenged by Neptune and Jupiter, and opposed by Saturn, activating the Mutable Grand Cross that is challenging us for this entire report period. The Moon challenged by Neptune can bring illusion as daydreams and fantasies feeling more important than reality. The Moon opposed by Saturn can have people feeling lonely and isolated. Moon challenged by Jupiter bring benevolent and generous feelings for those in our immediate environment, and merging with Venus feels cheerful, warm, gregarious, and wanting to go out and socialize. This can be interpreted many ways, and usually is. The Mutable Grand Cross with the Moon, Sun, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune has many people caught up who have planets in the middle degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and/or Pisces. Neptune can bring a mystery, that limits, Saturn, our progress, Jupiter, costing us something we value, Venus. On the other hand the tight conjunct of the lunation to Venus, is very positive for this new moon, and could bring a blessing to the house of your astrology chart that encompasses the mid-degrees of Gemini. Overall this is a social new moon focused on birthing new information, and communications. Also on the 4th the Sun squares Jupiter which can be very useful for moving ahead with something you desire as long as you avoid excess and remain disciplined. Many will feel the urge to take on more than they can handle or have the resources to accomplish. Being overly optimistic and exuberant, we need to be careful of being extravagant, so this is best approached with restraint. This can also create difficulties with others, because many will express its influence as arrogant self righteousness. Since you're aware of this possibility you might want to approach those folks by looking for common ground and compassion for their point of view. Also on the 4th Venus squares Jupiter is a nice transit. The energy of this square is usually agreeable, in that folks feel good and enjoy social interactions. A great day for doing something you enjoy, not so good for doing something you have to do, as it is low for self discipline. It's tough on dieters, because people may feel the urge to indulge in rich or sweet foods, with a caution about eating and drinking too much under this influence. This also applies to shopping as we will have a tendency to overspend on non essentials.

June 5th is 5 – Ik "eek" or Wind: empowerment through communication, with the Moon in Gemini stimulated by Uranus which brings pleasant yet restless feelings craving emotional excitement to do something outside the daily routine.

The 6th is 6 Akbal "awk-bol" or Night: being in the flow through contemplating the stars, while the Sun conjuncts Venus is wonderful for self expression in relationships, and a certain amount of assertiveness to gain the attention of those we love. This is a good time to socialize, make new contacts, friends and even possibly a new love interest. This is also favorable for financial activities, just avoid being extravagant or self indulgent. The negative of this is some people will think they are the most fascinating and interesting person in the world, which others interpret as being a vain fool. Also on the 6th the Cancer Moon supported by Neptune and in harmony with Jupiter changes from our innermost subconscious fantasies and daydreams confusing reality, which may not be great for accomplishing much work, to later feeling in the flow and having a sense of wholeness.

June 7th is 7 Kan "con" or Seed or Lizard: reflection through planting seeds and making new connections, while the Moon in Cancer is opposed by Pluto, challenged by Uranus, in harmony with Mercury, and supported by Mars, which shifts from deep emotions rising to the surface, to later folks acting hasty and jumping to conclusions that may not be correct, followed by people feeling chatty and having numerous conversations, and finally brings the energy for asserting ourselves in a positive manner and standing our ground if necessary.

The 8th is 8 – Chicchan "chee-chan" or Serpent: balance through being flexible, with the Moon in Cancer makeing no angles and is void of course until moving into Leo, which does not favor major decisions or purchases, but is good to use for resting to assimilate this latest round of energy and experiences.

June 9th is 9 – Cimi "key-mee" or Transformation: patience experienced through releasing what no longer serves us, with Mercury opposes Mars, a time to use caution because the influence of aggressive and irritable Mars on our speech and behavior (Mercury) which can be very forthright where folks tell each other exactly what they think of them with little or no editing or filtering. People can be very combative in word and action under this influence. Being conscious of what you are projecting into your environment is one way to avoid conflicts, and of course the other, is to realize that others may not be acting as consciously and treat them with compassion and forgiveness. Ultimately this transit is about releasing ego energies that aren't usually so obvious. You might want to keep your opinions to yourself if you wish to avoid arguments. Also avoiding rash or impulsive behaviors is recommended as this energetic is also associated with accidents. Also on the 9th Mercury sextile Chiron is harmonious energy for reaching a deeper understanding of healing old wounds, which will eventually grow into wisdom. People also might be communicating about their healing processes, by expressing their wounding in the past and become aware of these past experiences to allow healing through talking through what is now conscious and ready to be released. Also on the 9th Mars trines Chiron is supportive for taking action to heal wounds, especially those related to sex and aggression. It can also bring courage to release the past through forgiveness. Also on the 9th the Leo Moon supported by Saturn and Uranus, and in harmony with the Sun and Venus, which shifts from having a sober realistic view of life, to later feeling balance between our inner and outer worlds, followed by having pleasant energy to be with friends and loved ones, and finally Uranus brings a desire for emotional excitement to engage in activities outside our daily routine.

The 10th is 10 – Manik "man-eek" or Deer: manifestation through being of service to others, with the Moon in Leo challenged by Mars and Mercury which moves from people feeling irritable which could lead to needless disputes, to later folks being critical in their communications particularly with the people they have intimate relationships with.

June 11th is 11 – Lamat "la-maught" or Star or Rabbit: resolution through being grateful for abundant relationships, with the Virgo Moon opposed by Neptune, challenged by Saturn, merging with Jupiter and supported by Pluto, which changes from feeling sensitive emotionally but confused regarding the accuracy of what's being felt, to later people feeling lonely or isolated, followed by good feelings and generosity towards others, and finally Pluto bringing out intense emotions and stimulating sensitivity, which also favors sexual relationships.

The 12th is 12 – Muluc "moo-luke" or Offering: understanding through appreciating creation, with Mercury enters Gemini which is beneficial because Mercury rules Gemini. This is very fast energy that will speed up communications and interest in a wider variety of topics for the rest of the month. While in Gemini, Mercury brings spontaneity to socialization in life. Also on the 12th Venus sextiles Uranus, which for a day people will seek excitement outside of our daily routines, stimulates new interactions with people who can fascinate us, but be aware romances begun under this transit may not be long lasting even though at this time they seem pleasantly electrifying. Great energy for a fling with friends or a party. Folks will be more freedom seeking in their relationships, during this transit. That does not favor being clingy, possessive, or jealous. Allow loved ones more leeway and flexibility, and this could greatly broaden your understanding of partners and friends, and in doing so bring new insights into yourself. Also on the 12th the first quarter Moon is challenged by the Sun and Venus, stimulated by Mars, and supported by Mercury which changes from encountering challenges to our daily routines, to later feeling pleasant energy for being with the others we want to know better, followed by having the desire to work independently from others, and finally feeling in touch with our emotions and expressing them to others.

June 13th is 13 – Oc "awk" or Dog: movement to the next stage through enjoying family and friends, with Neptune turning retrograde which brings spirituality and creativity, but also delusions while the lord of the sea is at the peak of his power and in the sign of Pisces, which he rules. Neptune pushes us to transcend the physical world to connect with our higher purpose and spiritual transformation, but also encourages escapism as some will seek unconsciousness, while others to awaken. If you have planets at 11 to 13 degrees Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces, Neptune virtually standing still at 12 degrees during this report period, which could bring confusion, inspiration, insanity, feeling drained, a longing to escape, or any combination of these during its months of fog. Also on the 13th Venus square Chiron could make us aware of our wounds and old emotions regarding how we relate to others and/or what we value. It makes us more conscious through our current interactions in our personal relationship to allow healing of a pattern that we may have forgotten. Also on the 13th the Libra Moon harmonizes with Saturn which brings realistic expectations through being calm and reflective.

So no matter what energies are affecting you during this 1 Flint trecena, take some time to be in the flow of the planet by being in nature, watching a sunrise or sunset, communing with the stars, being conscious of the moment through introspection, meditation or being with someone you love. Every day is a blessing no matter what dramas beckon to distract us. We are all giving the performance of a life time on this world stage, just take some time to observe the play as well as act your part. Remember you are a spiritual being having a human experience.
